Toonpur director clears the air on controversies surrounding the film

With Toonpur Ka Superrhero and Tees Maar Khan slated to release this Friday, fans can only ponder over which film would rip the box-office open this week. So would Ajay’s swagger attract spectators again with him having another winning streak, or will Katrina shine in all her glory and sway the audiences with her youthfulness? Besides releasing on the same day, the films have something else in common, they both have garnered their fair share of controversies, the latest being the animation hybrid Toonpur Ka Superrhero.
The first controversy to hit TKS was that the makers on Ra. One claimed that apparently both the films have the same plot, Kireet Khurana director of the film said, “It’s possible that they might have a similar story, I don’t know what Shah Rukh’s script is about but our script is not inspired by anyone, it’s an original script.”
The second argument to hit the makers of TKS is regarding Guppy, one of the characters in the film who constantly harasses The Devtoons by breaking out into a jingle. This apparently, has not gone down well with veteran composer Bappi Lahiri who believes the character is trying to make fun of his real life personality. The singer-music composer is in fact taking legal action for defamation.
Kireet Khurana, director of the film, who was in Hyderabad, came home to find a legal notice in his inbox, appalled he said, “I don’t think that there are any marked similarities but for the record, Guppy wears an Elvis type getup and as an animator we derive inspirations from various sources. Like the lights on Guppy’s outfit has been inspired from the Amitabh Bachchan song ‘Saara Zamaana’ from the film Yaarana.” Kireet also sheds light on the characters cacophonic singing skills which is all attributed from Astrix.
“Were getting tremendous response, I got back from R Mall in Mumbai, and everywhere, kids and their families were applauding the film.” Kireet remarks excitedly waiting for the films release. “I think things are looking very good, it’s very over whelming,” says the debutant director.
Akshay – Ash fly to Dubai for Action Replayy premiere

Things are heating up for Diwali releases. The lead pair of Action Replayy, Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai, are in Dubai today. There would be a glittering premiere of the film tonight which would be followed by a round of celebrations.
Akshay and Ash would be back tomorrow to further pump up the promotion leading to Friday’s release of the film.
Confirms Vipul, “Both Akshay and Ash have a huge fan base in the overseas and it was imperative for them to travel for the premiere.”
Vipul stayed back in Mumbai to oversee the promotional activities within the country. He was in Ahmedabad on Monday to show the film to Indian cricket team which was stationed there in advance as they play a test match against New Zealand starting tomorrow.
“Yes, there was a special show organised for them on Monday. Of course the team has liked the film a lot. However, I am now waiting for all-India audience to pass their verdict once the film opens on Friday”, says Vipul.
His anxiety is understandable. After all, Diwali releases come with huge expectations and with another major film Golmaal 3 releasing on the same day, it has to be seen if it turns out to be double dhamaka for the makers of both the films.

Ghai reached settlement with 20th Century Fox to clear release of Hello Darling

Bollywood films being inspired by Hollywood movies is a phenomenon as old as the hills. However, in the recent past, more and more filmmakers are going the right way and procuring legal rights to remake rather than blatantly plagiarising Hollywood films.
Mukta Arts’ production Hello Darling which released last Friday also found itself in a soup few days prior to its release when 20th Century Fox claimed that the film is a copy of the 1980′s Hollywood film Nine to Five (9 to 5). Both the films apparently deal with 3 working women out to teach their perverted, sex-starved boss a lesson. 20th Century Fox would have stopped the release of Hello Darling; however a timely intervention and an out of court settlement by Subhash Ghai helped the film release on its scheduled date.
When we contacted Mr. Subhash Ghai, he didn’t deny the news, “Yes we’ve had a settlement with 20th Century Fox. When our team of writers started writing Hello Darling there was no deliberate intention to take references from any particular film. However, when I saw the first cut of the film last month, I did notice that it was similar to some extent to the 1980′s Hollywood film Nine to Five. That’s when I spoke to the people at 20th Century Fox. Since the film was nearing release, there was no question of acquiring rights at that point of time. However, we mutually decided to arrive at a settlement so that the release is not affected. They were kind enough and as scheduled our film released on the said date i.e. Aug 27.”

MUMBAI INDIA: Singer Akon got a traditional Indian welcome from Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor during a press meet in Mumbai.
The Smack That singer is on a three-day visit to Mumbai to compose and record a song for Shah Rukh’s latest movie Ra. One with composer duo Vishal-Shekar.
The movie is being directed by Anubhav Sinha. In fact, it was Sinha’s idea to rope in Akon for the film, whose title sounds similar to that of Mani Ratnam’s film Raavan starring Abhishek Bachchan and his wife Aishwarya.
When asked about this, Shah Rukh said both the films are extremely different. “Raavan is a modern version of a mythology while ours is a superhero film,” he added.
Shah Rukh did not wanted to discuss the movie as it is in the initial stages. But he did add that, ‘It is a genre that has not been tried before. Red Chillies and my team would like to try and I hope we succeed. I am doing this film for my kids and if you guys have kids, they will like it too,” he said.

NEW DELHI: Bollywood’s most stylish and promising actress Kareena Kapoor will be next seen in two ambitious projects Kurbaan opposite beau Saif Ali Khan and 3 Idiots opposite good friend Aamir Khan.
Both the films and Kareena’s characters are creating a lot of buzz in the market. And now Kareena is confused about how she should manage the promotion of both these films.
Sometime back Katrina Kaif too faced a similar dilemma. She had to choose between either promoting Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani or De Dana Dan. And it’s noteworthy that Kat chose Ranbir over Akshay.
Here Ritesh Deshmukh emerged as a winner, when he managed two of his films’ promotion perfectly. The actor was seen in the press conference of Do Not Disturb and the very next day he appeared for Aladin.
B-town babes should learn this balancing act from our Aladin!
