Dreamworks 3D animation ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ has debuted at the top of the US box office charts following its first weekend on release.
The Paramount-Dreamworks adventure took a healthy $43.3 million in its box office debut to fly to the top of the charts, with fellow 3D release Alice in Wonderland dropping to second.
Dreamworks Animation believe the upcoming Easter weekend could see the box office fortunes of How to Train Your Dragon flourising in the coming weeks.
MGM comedy Hot Tub Time Machine, starring John Cusack, was the only other entry in the US top ten, debuting in third with $13.7 million.
