Spider Man on broadway is casting for new female leads

Spider Man
TrendPK.com: Broadway’s $70 million “Spider Man: Turn off the Dark” actually started performances in mid November 2010, if you recall. Coming up on the year anniversary, two leads from the show are being re-cast. Presumably, Jennifer Damiano and TV Carpio, respectively Mary Jane and Arachne, are leaving since a casting call has gone out for their replacements. Additionally, a casting call went out for a new Peter Parker to understudy the role while Reeve Carney goes off to shoot a biopic about late singer songwriter Jeff Buckley. Sources say the new Mary Jane and Arachne should have their first performances in mid November.
That’s around the same time Carney will exit for 8 weeks. “Spider Man,” like most of Broadway, is having a tough fall at the box office. After its wild winter and spring, the troubled musical finally opened on June 14th. Between kids being out of school and mordbid curiosity, the musical played to fairly full houses through Labor Day. But now it’s doing about 79% business, and offering all kinds of discounts. On the bright side, there don’t seem to be reports of injuries anymore among the flying actors.

Matthew Morrison’s fiancée Chrishell Stause called off their engagement after suspecting the actor was cheating on her with his Broadway pal Lea Michele.
The 31-year-old actor, who now co-stars with Michele in hit TV show Glee, proposed to All My Children star Stause in 2006 after dating for two-and-a-half years. However, their romance hit a stumbling block in June, 2007 when tabloid reports suggested Morrison was enjoying a fling with Michele.
The pair both dismissed claims of a romance, and while Stause insists it was a “false rumor,” she admits Morrison did little to calm her fears of his infidelity – and she dumped him in September, 2007, just months before they were due to exchange vows.

She tells Star magazine, “I decided to break off our engagement because I believed he was seeing other people and just wasn’t ready to fully commit.” Stause went public with the love split on her official website a month later, blasting Morrison for his wandering eye. She wrote, “This is obviously a serious matter, but laughter makes it easier. Besides, it’s not Matthew’s fault that he thought MONOGAMY was a type of tree!”
However, Stause has since come to terms with the break-up and insists she wishes nothing but the best for her ex, who has shot to stardom with the TV musical.
She tells the publication, “I am really happy for Matthew and his success. I still love and adore him. It’s been a long time since we ended our relationship, and looking back, it was for the best. Everything happens for a reason.”
Michele, 23, who is now dating American Idiot theatre star Theo Stockman, recently attempted to put a stop to the Morrison romance rumors once and for all, saying: “I’ve known Matt for years. He’s been a friend of mine from New York. People are going to make things up. I think it’s just because we really are so close.”

Each weekday morning, BDL serves up a handful of NBA-related stories to digest with your big bag of baby carrots.
Gary Washburn, Boston Globe: “Silence and confusion were the coherent themes in the Cavaliers locker room following their 120-88 Game 5 loss to the Celtics. A team so primed for success, so ready for a title run and so geared to cruise to the Eastern Conference finals is now one game from elimination. No one in the Cleveland locker room at Quicken Loans Arena expected to approach abject failure, especially so soon. The No. 1-seeded Cavaliers were supposed to be done with Boston and preparing for a rematch with Orlando. But getting to the Magic will take consecutive wins. After last night’s performance, it seems the Cavaliers aren’t capable of such feats. The 20,562 in attendance may have witnessed (now that’s a nasty word in Cleveland) LeBron James’s(notes) final home game. If the Cavaliers fall short, the team could be completely dismantled, starting with James, who will exercise his opt-out clause and become a restricted free agent. James refuses to acknowledge that his right elbow is hindering his performance, but it’s difficult to believe he’s completely healthy. He is 17 for 47 from the field in the three losses to Boston and last night there were times he wanted nothing to do with scoring or spearheading a comeback. The repercussions of losing this series could be catastrophic to the city of Cleveland and Cavaliers basketball. Although Quicken Loans won’t be confused with Richfield Coliseum of the early 1980s, the Cavaliers could be LeBron-less and without an identity next season.”
Brian Windhorst, Cleveland Plain Dealer: “In the shell-shocked silence at The Q Tuesday night, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert sat stoically in his baseline courtside seat less than 10 feet from LeBron James, who passed the time of the neverending final minutes on the last seat of the bench. The scene on the floor and the silence in the emptying building wasn’t what either of them had planned for this ‘all in’ season, which is now down to Thursday’s Game 6 after the Cavs lost, 120-88, to the Celtics. The oldest and last Ziegfeld girl died today. Her name was Doris Eaton Travis. She was 106.
One of the most thrilling moments in putting together my book, Historic Photos of Broadway, was writing the page I devoted to Eaton Travis. I even acquired the 8×10 glossy of her, age 16 or so, right after she joined the Ziegfeld Follies. How can you resist that image on the left? That’s about 1920.
Talk about an amazing life. She has earned her rest, admiration and love.
Here’s a statement from the PR firm Boneau/Bryan-Brown, which represents Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the organization to which Eaton Travis was so good, remarkably so, for so long. I shall sing “A Pretty Girl Is Like a Melody” tonight — and think only of her.

Doris Eaton Travis passed away today at the age of 106. Ms. Travis was one of the legendary Ziegfeld Follies Girls and a longtime friend of Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS having made many memorable appearances in their annual EASTER BONNET COMPETITION.
In a statement on behalf of the family, Joe Eaton, Jr., Doris’ nephew, said, “Doris and her brother, my father Joe, had been working with Arthur Murray just after the war. She met Paul Travis in Detroit. They married in 1948. The work with Arthur Murray Dance Studio franchises really took off then and for the next 25 years. In 1972 they retired to Norman, Oklahoma and began Travis Ranch, a horse farm. But Doris always continued to dance, teaching privately, performing at local benefits and parties. She was thrilled when first invited by Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS to participate in the opening number of the first EASTER BONNET COMPETITION to be produced at the New Amsterdam Theatre where she had appeared in the Ziegfeld Follies over 70 years before. Doris loved coming back to Broadway for the event every year after – 12 times altogether. From 1998 – 2010, she only missed it in 2007. It became the highlight of her life. She adored dancing with the young dancers, seeing new shows and the incredible response from the Easter Bonnet audience and Broadway community. Life came full circle for her again and again and she said each year how much she loved everyone at BC/EFA for making it possible. Just this past weekend, she was talking about what she wanted to do next year. I know she’ll be there in spirit. Even from heaven, she wouldn’t miss it.”
In a statement, Tom Viola, Executive Director of BC/EFA, said, “Doris Eaton Travis was beloved at Broadway Cares. Since first meeting her in 1998 at the very young age of 94 when she appeared at the 12th edition of the EASTER BONNET COMPETITION at the New Amsterdam Theatre through the 24th edition which was held two weeks ago at the Minskoff – no matter her age when the stage lights hit Doris, she was instantly and forever young. Whether leading 30 Broadway dancers in a conga, playing sassy in a tux with the Cagelles, celebrating her 100th birthday on the New Amsterdam stage where she first appeared at the age of 16, teaching Sutton Foster “the Black Bottom,” or showing the young ballerinas from Billy Elliott the “Ballin’ the Jack” – a number she had introduced in 1921, Doris was simply a delight. Broadway loved her, giving her a standing ovation just two weeks ago that I know she took to heart and I’m certain has taken with her. Doris taught us all a little bit about how to celebrate the past and live for today. We will miss her forever.”

After many centuries of philosophical debate, we learned empirically that Cowboys are better than Detectives. We saw a re-enactment of the trench warfare of World War I. Perhaps more terrifyingly, we saw Brent and Caite re-enact the same fight on five continents — “You’re dumb!” “You’re dumb!” “You’re a towel!” “No, YOU’RE a towel!” We saw just how easy it was to lose one coconut — For want of a coconut, the race was lost.
And now, the 16th race around the world is over, and only one team reigns supreme.
SPOILERS APLENTY after the jump…
If we assume that CowBros Jet and Cord represented Good, and Dating Models Brent and Caite represented Evil, then… well, chaos reigns, because brothers Jordan and Dan managed to come out on top.
I’m still trying to decide how I feel about JorDaniel’s line-cutting at the Shanghai airport. Sure, it’s all in the game, but that seemed like a uniquely dishonorable move. That being said, Dan’s ability to sweet-talk the flight attendant was probably more important, in the end.
As a Bay Area native, I was pretty stoked about all the San Francisco challenges, and I think they just about covered all the essential monuments.
Coit Tower? Check. Candlestick park? Check. George Lucas? Check.
I was even more stoked that we got one last little volley in theBrandy vs. Caite war of words.
What did you think of the finale, viewers? Did the cowboys walk away with a moral victory, or should they have gotten a bit more down and dirty for the last leg? Did Caite prove once and for all that she’s not as think as we dumb she is? And seriously, who called JorDaniel for the victory

Barbara Walters said she will have surgery later this week to replace a faulty heart valve and take the summer off from “The View” to recuperate.
Her co-hosts got the news Monday morning shortly before viewers did. “I thought it best not to talk about it too far in advance,” Walters said.
The recovery process is expected to take one to three months. With a break in July and hiatus in August, Walters and her doctor decided that now was a good time to take care of business. Walters said she’s known about the problem for “many months
Walters says she plans to recover from her operation during the show’s summer hiatus and then come “roaring back” to “The View.” She said recovery time for an operation of this stature can take between one to three months.
She said her condition would be a surprise to many friends. “But I thought it best not to talk about it too far in advance.”

Walters said she had not felt any symptoms from the narrowing of the heart valve, which can worsen and restrict the flow of blood to the heart.
Whoopi Goldberg, her co-host on ABC’s “The View,” asked Walters if she is scared.
“Look, nobody wants to have this kind of surgery,” Walters said, but added that it has become more commonplace and done safely.
