49ers add two huge offensive linemen to mix
Singletary expects first-round picks to start
SANTA CLARA — Mike Singletary’s offensive line received a major makeover in a matter of 30 minutes.
The San Francisco 49ers made sure they got their men, all right: first, Rutgers offensive tackle Anthony Davis at No. 11 in Thursday’s NFL draft, then fellow offensive lineman Mike Iupati out of Idaho six picks later.
Both will compete to be starters as rookies come training camp this summer, Davis at right tackle and Iupati at left guard.
“Do I expect them to start? Yes I do,” Singletary said. “We’re hoping that soon they can work their way in there. That’s why we brought them in here.”
The Niners pulled off a trade with the Denver Broncos to move up two spots and secure Davis, one of the top lineman prospects.
Davis had a good feeling about the 49ers from the moment he visited team headquarters earlier this month. He had dinner with Singletary, who went 8-8 last season in his first full year in charge and ended a franchise-worst stretch of six straight losing seasons.
“(It felt) a lot different. That’s why I was so big on the 49ers going through the process,” Davis said on a conference call.
“But of course I had to keep it to myself. Great people, the whole staff, the team, a tight-knit group. I like what Singletary’s building over there. I can’t wait to be a part of it, win some games.”
Davis was joined by some 20 family members, along with former coaches and teammates in a private room at a New Jersey restaurant.
Singletary called him with the news just before the pick was made.
“Best feeling in my life, man, best feeling ever,” Davis said.
San Francisco also traded its fourth-round pick, No. 113 overall, to the Broncos to move up and snare the 20-year-old Davis — an aggressive move by new personnel chief Trent Baalke. He took the reins for the draft after the abrupt departure of general manager Scot McCloughan last month.

Tim Tebow headed to Broncos after big surprise in NFL draft JACKSONVILLE — It looks like Tim Tebow’s first game as a pro football player will, indeed, be in his hometown of Jacksonville.He’ll be on the visiting sideline.
The Denver Broncos, who chose the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner with the 25th selection overall of the NFL draft on Thursday night, will visit the Jaguars on Sept. 12 on the opening week of the NFL’s regular season.

And the Broncos paid a strong price to get Tebow, giving up a second, third and fourth round draft pick to move up.
“That will be exciting to be honest,” Tebow said of his pro career starting in the area he became a high school legend. “I’m just going to compete, go in there and get some playing time and just get better. Be part of a franchise and a great organization. That’s what I’m excited about.”
Tebow said he wasn’t surprised Jacksonville passed on him.
“I had only met with them one time and it was an interview at the combine,” Tebow said. 
“I hadn’t done a workout for them or had a visit. We hadn’t actually really talked to anybody from the Jaguars from the combine so I didn’t really think that they were that interested.”
Tebow chuckled when asked about his number coming available and said, “If they want me to wear 15, I’ll wear 15.”
That was Tebow’s uniform at UF and just came open when Denver star receiver Brandon Marshall departed for the Miami Dolphins.
A little after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the hearts of Jaguars football fans collectively skipped a beat when the Buffalo Bills selected C.J. Spiller with the ninth pick of the NFL Draft. But Jacksonville, picking 10th, took Cal defensive tackle Tyson Alualu. Tebow would have been a reach. Alualu may have been just as far of a stretch, however, with the No. 10 selection.
But the Broncos new quarterback seemed thrilled where he landed. Denver has Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn already on the roster.
Tebow said he talked with Gators coach Urban Meyer almost right away and he called his mentor, “Excited.”
Tebow said Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, who called him with the news, was a great fit.
“I’m excited just to pick his brain and go out there and just start grinding,” Tebow said.
The former Florida quarterback said being selected in the first round wasn’t important, but having a team with faith in him was.

Lions Receive Tony Scheffler from Denver, Send Ernie Sims to Philadelphia in Three-Team Trade
Just when you thought things were quieting down as we get closer to the draft, a three-team trade involving the Lions has emerged. The details of the trade, as first reported by Adam Schefter and later followed up on by Chris Mortensen, are as follows:
* Lions receive tight end Tony Scheffler and a seventh-round pick from the Broncos
* Eagles receive linebacker Ernie Sims from the Lions
* Broncos receive a fifth-round pick from the Eagles
My first reaction is wow. I certainly did not see another trade coming involving the Lions before the draft, and I definitely did not expect Ernie Sims to be involved. I figured the Lions were content with Sims going forward and were happy to not have a major need at linebacker. As it turns out, though, you can put linebacker at the top of the list of needs and take tight end off the list altogether.
Tony Scheffler is a good receiving tight end that will be a nice complement to Brandon Pettigrew and another target for Matthew Stafford. It has been no secret just based on who the Lions were bringing in for pre-draft visits that tight end was a need, but I didn’t think it would be addressed via a trade of this magnitude.
In addition to receiving Scheffler from the Broncos, the Lions are also going to get a seventh-round pick, giving them four total selections in the seventh round. You would have to think the Lions will consider packaging some of those picks together to move up into the sixth round or something. Only three are tradeable since one is a compensatory selection, but I kind of have a hard time believing the Lions are just stockpiling seventh-round picks for the hell of it.

Thousands of Americans are discussing or rather gossip mongering online and according to reports it has become one of the most visited licentious places where one can get not only to read some of the hottest gossips that are doing the rounds in the campus but also some juicy campus videos and photos of the persons involved.
The website provides freedom to its user to create contents. The contents can be related to anybody and everybody. While the website was launched with an aim to provide opportunity to college buddies to discuss their college life and also share their experiences with each other, it has turned out that the users have found out some other uses of the website. Some sources allege that the website has now turned into a place for sexting and contains maximum sexual content. However, the website does not allow uploading of photos of minors.

The AFC East is getting yet another high-profile receiver.
The Broncos agreed to trade Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins, ESPN, the Denver Post and NFL.com reported. The Dolphins will surrender two second-round picks (including the 43rd overall selection in next week’s draft).
Marshall was a restricted free agent who signed his contract tender on Tuesday. That cleared the way for the Broncos to trade him.
ESPN said Marshall is expected to sign a contract extension that will be among the largest in league history.
If completed, Marshall will be the second big-name receiver to join the AFC East this week. The Jets acquired Santonio Holmes, the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII, from Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Marshall’s tenure in Denver was marked by controversy. The team suspended him during the preseason last year after he acted inappropriately at a preseason workout.
He has made the Pro Bowl the past two years and has caught at least 101 passes in each of the past three seasons. — Sean Leahy

“I can’t say anything other than Josh and I mutually agreed to part ways,” Mike Nolan.
Mike Nolan , the former 49ers head coach, and McDaniels got off to a hot start with the Broncos. The team started 6-0 and surrendered just 16 points through its first three games. But the Broncos imploded down the stretch.
They lost their final four games and surrendered an average of 30.5 points per game in those four losses. But overall, the Broncos’ defense improved from 29th in 2008 to seventh this season.
