The system, which has been developed by Valeo, will be coupled with the HDi diesel engines from the Peugeot and Citroen ranges and will be features on both manual and automated manual transmissions models, with the carmaker having targeting to equip one million vehicles with the system by 2013.
Xebec’s PSA was purchased by PT Indo Raya Kimia, a leading producer of carbon disulphide (“CS2″) in Asia Pacific. Xebec’s PSA will upgrade lower quality natural gas used as a feed stock in the production of CS2.

“This is Xebec’s first sale of an M-3200 PSA for natural gas upgrading in South East Asia, following our successful installations at both offshore and on-shore gas processing facilities in California. We aim to build on this first project in Indonesia to expand our PSA sales in the gas process market across South East Asia,” said Andrew Hall, Xebec Vice President for Asia/Pacific.

“In many countries in South East Asia, including Indonesia, the quality of commercial natural gas is quite variable, and gas supplies can be contaminated with carbon dioxide as new lower-quality gas wells and fields are brought on stream. Xebec’s M-3200 PSA is a compact, reliable and cost effective solution to remove carbon dioxide from sub-quality natural gas, increasing the methane content to meet the stringent specifications required by industrial consumers of natural gas. In this specific application, Xebec’s PSA will assist our customer to increase the productivity and reduce the maintenance downtime of their CS2 synthesis process,” said Hall.

NYeC, which recently received $27 million in stimulus funding associated with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) to assist New York state providers in adopting EHRs to improve patient care outcomes, chose Eclipsys based on the company’s strong track record in preparing clients to meet the expected “Meaningful Use” requirements of ARRA.

“When researching options for inclusion in our preferred provider program, we sought companies with a proven track record in the HIT market, with solid experience serving clients in the state of New York,” said Paul Wilder, Director of Healthcare IT Adoption at NYeC Regional Extension Center. j0400270 211x315 eclipsys“With numerous healthcare organizations in the state utilizing Eclipsys clinical solutions, the company has clearly demonstrated success in supporting New York-based physicians in achieving deep physician adoption of technology — a key requirement for meeting meaningful use — while also leveraging an industry-leading, open technology platform to meet current and future needs in a dynamic healthcare environment.”

Allscripts’ Tullman will be CEO of the combined company while Eclipsys CEO Phil Pead will be chairman.

The deal has been approved by both companies’ boards of directors and is subject to shareholder approval of both companies.

Separately, the British information services company Misys PLC will reduce its almost 55 percent stake in Allscripts to 10 percent through an underwritten secondary equity offering of its Allscripts shares and by selling shares to Allscripts.

Misys acquired a 54.5 percent stake in Allscripts for $330 million in 2008.

In a separate deal in the healthcare technology field, Cardinal Health Inc. said Wednesday it is buying Healthcare Solutions Holding LLC for $517 million, in a move to expand its tools and services for health care data and claims management.

UBS, Barclays Capital and J.P. Morgan acted as financial advisors to Allscripts in the Eclipsys deal.

Allscripts expects its buyout of Eclipsys to boost net income, excluding charges, in 2011. The company expects its fiscal year net income in 2010 to reach the high end of its 64 cents to 65 cents per share guidance, excluding charges, on revenue between $700 million and $705 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect net income of 65 cents per share on $702.3 million in revenue.

The fiscal year ends in May. After the buyout closes, Allscripts expects to report financial results on a calendar year basis.

McDonald’s recalls 12 million toxic Shrek glasses
McDonald’s is recalling 12 million drinking glasses it is selling to promote the new “Shrek” movie because painted designs on the cheap collectables contain the toxic metal cadmium.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission warned consumers to immediately stop using the glasses; McDonald’s said it would post instructions on its website next week regarding refunds.03254e55b550496c mcdonalds

The glasses, which are being sold for about $2 (ÂŁ1.30) each as part of a promotional campaign for the movie Shrek Forever After, were available in four designs depicting the characters Shrek, Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots and Donkey. The animated comedy, featuring the voices of Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, has been number one at the box office since it opened on May 21.

The CPSC noted in its recall notice that “long-term exposure to cadmium can cause adverse health effects.” Research has shown it can cause problems to the kidneys and can cause bone softening. d7b08cdba7nalds1 mcdonalds

I always feel bad going to airports because I know that I’m going to be increasing my carbon footprint. There’s no denying that the whole “flying” process generates a ton of carbon emissions, whether it’s from the airplanes consuming fuel or the airport generating massive amounts of energy for passengers. I’d love to be able to buy carbon offset credits for every flight that I take, but I can barely afford the ticket!

Don’t worry, there’s good news for us passengers who care about how we’re impacting the environment when we fly. If we can’t be green in the air then we can be green in the airport, thanks to the green efforts of airports around the world! More airports today are using solar panels and wind turbines, they’re recycling their waste and they’re building with renewable resources. sorce /greenopolis.com/

e4f3381f5200x231 bp ceoIn between the “We’re sorrys” and “It’ll be alrights,” BP CEO Tony Hayward finally got around to what we’ve all been waiting for: outlining its long-term plans for the Gulf. In short, BP is laying the groundwork for a sustained damage-control operation — one aimed at the Gulf, its business and its public image.

At which point, you’d be perfectly justified in asking: What took him so long?

Here are a few of the more revealing items that came up in the conference call.

Isolating BP’s disaster operations
BP will reorganize its the Gulf of Mexico disaster operations into a new division. No word yet on what the unit will be called, although there will be plenty of sarcastic suggestions from the locals and media. Bob Dudley, a BP exec — well-respected one, according to the Guardian — who used to manage the company’s Russian TNK-BP unit, will head this new Gulf of Mexico division. On a sidenote: TNK-BP’s subsidiary RUSIA Petroleum filed for bankruptcy Thursday, following a long and unprofitable plan to sell Russian natural gas to China.

Hayward didn’t give specifics on what this “separate, stand alone organization” will look like, making it ambiguous enough to mean many things. Hayward cast the move as a way to keep the focus on the oil spill disaster without distracting BP from its other operations.
3178ce32b3oil bp ceo
Most likely, this is an accounting move that will allow BP to put its toxic oil spill assets in one place and then make a massive impairment write down. Whether Hayward thought of this weeks ago, isn’t clear. But the timing of it — the day after Moody’s BP execs are proving to be Wizards from Oz hunkered behind the curtain bellowing. And when we pull the curtain back, there is nothing but the worst Lilliputian leaders lingering there.

Let’s shift to the context of the world of the university. Eisenhower briefly served as president of Columbia University after the end of WWII and before the political tugs of a military leader of his stature led him to become U.S. President. Suppose professors at a major university report concerns to their president and senior officials about the potential for a leak of radiation from a lab. The president and leadership team bring in an outside consultant as BP did (let’s hope there is no Halliburton in academe) to assess things and make a temporary fix. There follows a radiation leak into the surrounding campus and neighborhood that goes on for days, maybe weeks. How long would that university president remain in the leadership post? Methinks not long.

jim joyce blown call

bdf219cc0cix6xnl jim joyce blown callDETROIT – Armando Galarraga squeezed the ball in his mitt, stepped on first base with his right foot and was ready to celebrate the first perfect game in Detroit Tigers’ history.

What happened next will be the talk of baseball for the rest of this season and likely a lot longer.

Umpire Jim Joyce emphatically called Cleveland’s Jason Donald safe and a chorus of groans and boos echoed in Comerica Park.

But Jim Joyce’s blown call with two outs in the ninth inning of Armando Galarraga’s perfect game was the story of the night. The story was so big, even the Yankees players that were on the field when it took place were well aware of what had happened by the time we walked into the clubhouse.

“That’s crazy,” Hughes said. “I saw the replay. That’s tough. I feel bad for Galarraga. That’s got to be tough for him, and I’m sure Joyce feels terrible, too. What are you going to do? He saw it the way he saw it. It will be interesting to see what happens from here.”

“It’s unfortunate, because Jimmy Joyce is a very good umpire,” Joe Girardi said. “It’s something baseball should look at. If they do change (the call), it doesn’t affect the game or the outcome. I know it would be the first time that’s ever happened, but you’re talking about a very unusual circumstance here.”

While Girardi seemed to be in favor of Major League Baseball stepping in and changing the final call, he didn’t go so far as to suggest a change to the instant replay system, which currently allows umpires to review borderline home run calls.

“I don’t want to open up a can of worms,” Girardi said.

Curtis Granderson was sympathetic to Joyce, saying he didn’t believe instant replay ought to be expanded in baseball despite the blown call.

But New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi think it’s worth a second look.

“I think it’s something that baseball should look at possibly because if they do change it, it doesn’t affect the game. It doesn’t affect the outcome.” he said after a 9-1 win over Baltimore. “I know it will be the first time that it’s ever happened but you’re talking about a very unusual circumstance.”

As it stands, baseball replays can only be used for questionable home runs. There’s no appealing a judgment call, either by replay or protest. A blown call by first base umpire Don Denkinger helped tilt the 1985 World Series, and followed him throughout his career.

WASHINGTON – The White House acknowledged Thursday that one of President Barack Obama’s top advisers had approached a Colorado Democrat about possible administration jobs in hopes of discouraging him from running against a candidate the president had endorsed in a Senate race.

The aide “wanted to determine if it was possible to avoid a costly battle between two supporters,” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in a statement.

But once the aide learned former Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff was determined to run against incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet, Gibbs added, “There was no offer of a job.”

The situation again called into question repeated promises by Obama to run an open government that was above private political horse-trading. In appealing to voters this election year, Republicans charge that Obama’s promise to change the ways of Washington has given way to the kind of politics he campaigned against.

Romanoff on Wednesday night released a copy of an e-mail in which White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina described three federal international development jobs that might be available to him if he were not challenging Bennet for the Democratic nomination.

Romanoff said in a statement Wednesday night that he was not interested in the hypothetical spots, the hypothetical job descriptions of which are below, taken from an e-mail from White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina.

Here’s Romanoff’s explanation, coming after the AP broke word that the White House had reached out to the candidate:

“I have received a large number of press inquiries concerning the role the White House is reported to have played in my decision to run for the U.S. Senate. I have declined comment because I did not want – and do not want – to politicize this matter. A great deal of misinformation has filled the void in the meantime. That does not serve the public interest or any useful purpose.

“Here are the facts:

“In September 2009, shortly after the news media first reported my plans to run for the Senate, I received a call from Jim Messina, the President’s deputy chief of staff. Mr. Messina informed me that the White House would support Sen. Bennet. I informed Mr. Messina that I had made my decision to run.
the White House says Coloardo U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff (D) had applied for an administration position during the Presidential transition and White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina called to follow up to see if he was still interested or, as had been reported, whether he was running for U.S. Senate.
