Supreme Court Returns NRO Review Plea
The Supreme Court has returned the NRO review petition after putting objections on it today.
Government has filed a review petition against the apex court’s December 16 decision on National Reconciliation Ordinance, challenging the decision from various aspects. The registrar office of Supreme Court has returned the petition after putting technical objections on it. Advocate on record Raja Abdul Ghafoor has sent the objections to ministry of law.
It stated that court had given the verdict after hearing the petition beyond the points mentioned in the petition and did not hear the government’s point of view on Swiss cases.

Petraeus Calls On Kayani:Rawalpindi
US Centcom commander Gen David H Petraeus called on COAS General Ashfaq Kayani.
Petraeus visited General headquarters in Rawalpindi and met with the COAS. During the meeting, the two men discussed bilateral issues and matters of mutual interests. According to sources, the US commander briefed Kayani of the ongoing Helmand operation

Lawyers Should Cooperate In Making Courts Impartial:Chief Justice
The Chief Justice (CJ) of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry stressed that good governance is not possible without providing immediate and affordable justice to the public. He urged the lawyers to cooperate in making the apex courts impartial.
Justice Iftikhar was addressing to a session of the Multan District Bar Association where he said, “Providing justice to masses is the joint responsibility of the courts and lawyers community.” He said that extra efforts should be done in preparing of cases so that unnecessary delays could be avoided.

Holbrooke Calls On COAS:Rawalpindi
The US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at the army head quarters in Rawalpindi.
The meeting focused on the security situation prevailing in region and the progress made against the war on terror. The future strategy of war on terror was also discussed during the meeting.
General Kayani briefed Holbrooke about the ongoing operation against militants in Waziristan.

Imran Khan Calls Rulers Corrupt; Demands Mid-term Elections
LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan Sunday termed the rulers corrupt and called for mid-term elections for resolution of the problems being faced by the country.
After condoling with the families of the victims of Moon Market tragedy here, Imran Khan said the Supreme Court has made a landmark decision on NRO.
“If the looted money is not recovered, the political parties and the people will take to the streets,” he warned.
The TI Chief said the SC verdict should not be construed as an act of retribution but actually it is an action against those who misused their authority.
