DIG Investigation injured in Quetta suicide attack; one killed

QUETTA: At least one man was killed while another seven sustained injures in a powerful suicide explosion at the home of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigations police in Quetta, TrendPK reported Thursday.
DIG Investigations Wazir Khan Nasir and his son Zubair Khan have been reportedly injured in explosion.
According to details, a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the wall of DIG home on Gulistan Road, which killed one person and wounded seven others.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) police, Daud Junejo, said attacker first opened fire and then blew up his explosive-laden car, killing his guard at the gate. He said DIG was slightly wounded in the attack.
Balochistan has long been hit by a low-level insurgency by nationalists aimed at seeking a greater share of profits from natural resources.
Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani has strongly condemned the attack and ordered investigation.TrendPK
Germany says terrorism suspect held in Pakistan
BERLIN: Germany says Pakistan has arrested a German wanted on terrorism charges at home.
The Foreign Ministry said Saturday that Pakistani authorities had confirmed they were holding a man from Frankfurt identified as Rami M.
A ministry spokesman didn”t comment on media reports saying Rami M. was wanted in Germany for membership in a terrorist group, nor on reports he was planning a terrorist attack on Germany”s embassy in Islamabad.
Der Spiegel magazine and Berliner Zeitung daily reported that Rami M. had phoned the embassy, asking for documents to leave Pakistan.
They reported the embassy asked him to come in June 21 but was warned he planned an attack. The reports said Pakistani authorities arrested him before his embassy appointment.
Mirza directs action plan to curb extortion in Karachi
KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza has directed the heads of police to chalk out on immediate basis an action plan to put a strict check on elements issuing threats to businessmen for extortion money and kidnappings for ransom.
According to a statement issued by Sindh Home Department, the Provincial Home Minister has taken note of the news reports regarding issuance of threats to businessmen for extortion money and kidnappings for ransom.
Dr. Mirza also ordered Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) to immediately submit a detailed explanation in this regard and take all possible steps with regard to provision of security to the business community.
He directed that combined patrolling by police commandoes and Pakistan Rangers be carried out in industrial areas during working as well as off days.
Admadi worship house attackers arrested: CCPO Lahore
LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen has said that six of a militant group involved in attacks on Ahmadi worship places, Parade Lane attack in Rawalpindi, attack on Youm-e-Ashur procession in Karachi last year and many others have been arrested.
He was addressing a press conference in Police Lines here today.
Huge quantity of weaponry and explosive was also recovered from them, he added. ‘They belonged to Harkat-e-Jihad-ul-Islami and Fazal Mehsud Group.’

CCPO directed to file FIR for recovery of MQM’s activists
KARACHI: A Judicial Commission formed to probe missing persons from Karachi met today to review 16 cases.
The commission directed Capital City Police Officer to register an F.I.R for the recovery of missing persons.
Chairman commission Justice (r) Kamal Mansoor Alam, Justice (r) Nasira Iqbal, Secretary Sindh Home Department, top police officials and officers of law enforcement agencies were present on this occasion.
In today’s meeting, the commission took up 16 cases and recorded statements of 16 missing persons.
In addition, a delegation of MQM called on the members of judicial commission.
On this occasion, Barrister Habib ur Rehman told media that 28 activists of the MQM went missing after arrest during 1992 to 1996.
Rangers ordered to clamp down miscreants
KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza, chairing a high-level meeting here, ordered rangers to take stringent action against those miscreants involved in disruption of capital city peace and order, Geo news reported late Wednesday.
The meeting was held in the wee hours, which reviewed the crippled law and order situation in metropolis inflicted by target killing incidents that have claimed lives of 9 people so far.
Meanwhile, the home minister also called in police and rangers’ joint meeting on Thursday morning, sources said.
The to-be-held joint sitting of leading law enforcement agencies will decide course of action to trample down surging wave of terrorism in Karachi.
