Privatization of edu institutes: Students on the rampage across Punjab

The students protest against the privatization of their colleges is continued across Punjab along with study boycott at all the institutes, trendpk.Com reported on Thursday.
The students held protest demonstrations were held in Multan, Faisalabad, Mian Channu, Vehari, Jaranwal and Dera Ghazi Khan against the thrashing of teachers and students in Lahore on Wednesday.
In Multan, the students of Emerson College, Civil Lines College and Commerce College assailed the Director Colleges office and ransacked it. The students tried to enter Mumtazabad office and vent their ire on a motorbike pared outside it.
In Faisalabad, the students took to roads to express solidarity with the students and teachers thrashed by the police yesterday. They blocked the traffic by burning a tyres on Jaranwala Road, Sumundri Road, Sargodha Road, Samnabad Road and Sheikhupura Road.
On the other hand, police booked 42 persosn including Jibran Butt, Chairman Joint Action Committee, Nazim Jamiat Lahore Akhzar Nazir. Also, Islami Jamiat Tulaba announced a Black Day today against torture on students; where as Punjab Professors Association has also announced a boycott against the educational process for an indefinite period.

WARSAW: The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Khalid Shameem Wynne, HI (M) during his official visit to Poland, met General Mieczyslaw Cieniuch, Chief of General Staff of Polish Armed Forces in Warsaw.
According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, the CJCSC and Polish army chief discussed the evolving regional security situation with emphasis on developments in Afghanistan, bilateral relations between the two countries and other matters of mutual interest.
During the bilateral meeting, the CJCSC was briefed on the Polish engagement in ISAF’s operations and transformation of the Polish Armed Forces.
Earlier, on the arrival at General Staff Headquarters, a smartly turned out tri services contingent presented Guard of Honor to the CJCSC.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Shamim Wyne said that backbone of Taliban network has been broken and this menace would be eradicated soon.
Addressing the ceremony of 122th Passing Out in Abbotabad Kakul Academy, Gen Shamim said that the government was fully aware of internal and external threats and it was fighting war on terror as per available resources. He lauded the sacrifices of the Army rendered in the war. He said that countrys sovereignty would not be compromised.
Gates apologizes on NATO attack
US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has also apologized from Pakistan on NATO attack on Pakistani areas, after apologies from the NATO and US envoys.
Robert Gates expressed his apology in a meeting with the Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani in the presence of the US Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee Admiral Michael Mullin. Pak-Afghan border issues and support in war against terrorism were also discussed in the meeting. United States said that Pakistans biggest enemy is extremism and not India.
Third round of Pak-US Strategic dialogue would commence from today in Washington. According to American television channel US would offer a security package to Pakistan worth $2 billion.
Gen. Kayani assures tackling Waziristan terrorists: Mullen

WASHINGTON: U.S. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen has said that the Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani has assured him of taking action against terrorists in Northern Waziristan.
Mullen made a claim during a recent interview that Northern Waziristan is an epicenter of terrorists and Al Qaeda is still active in that area.
He added that Pakistan has made sacrifices in the war against terror and suffered losses of civilian lives in this regard.
Admiral Mike Mullen further added that Pakistan’s Army Chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff have given assurances of tackling terrorists in Northern Waziristan. SAMAA

Lieutenant General Khalid Shamim Wayne has been appointed as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) on Tuesday and he will assume his office on October 8.
President Asif Ali Zardari promoted Lt. Gen. Khalid Shamim Wain to the position of CSCSC on the advice of the Prime Minister. He is currently serving as Chief of General Staff.
Lieutenant General Khalid Shamim Wayne, who comes from an Army background, was born on the August 28, 1953 at Abbottabad. He is a graduate of Command and Staff College, Pakistan, Command and Staff College, Germany and National Defence College, Pakistan.
He commanded School of Infantry and Tactics and Quetta based 41st Infantry division. He also served as Deputy CGS at GHQ.

Jordanian Air Force Commander calls on COAS, CJCSC

RAWALPINDI: Major General Malek Salameh Habashneh, Commander Royal Jordanian Air Fore called on Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee, General Tariq Majid on Tuesday.
According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, the visiting dignitary remained with General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani for some time at GHQ and discussed matters of professional interest.
Major General Habashneh also called on Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee, General Tariq Majid, at Joint Staff Headquarters.
They discussed professional matters related to progress in bilateral defense cooperation and recent regional security developments, especially in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

CJCSC calls on Turk President
ANKARA: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Tariq Majeed and Turk President Abdullah Gul held one-on-one meeting here on Monday, Geo news reported.
Belling out his country’s, people’s and government’s strong resolve to stand by Pakistan through all odds, coming in way of war on terrorism, Turkish president reiterated determination to keep cooperating with Pakistan in cubing regional and international terrorism.
He urged need for formation of Turk-Pak joint institute to enhance military cooperation between two countries.
“Turkish government is proud of Pakistani army over its successive offensives against militancy”, he maintained adding that we want to learn from the experiences of Pakistani military to uproot extremism.
CJCSC, on the occasion, assured Turkish President Gul of Pakistani army’s all-out support in all aspects against menace of terrorism.
