Woman eats 183 chicken wings in 12 min

The Black Widow of eating contests has eaten 183 chicken wings in 12 minutes to break her own world record set last year in Buffalo, N.Y.

Sonya Thomas took home first place Sunday at the tenth annual National Buffalo Wings Festival. She beat eating marvel Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, who came in second with 174 wings.

The two won titles at the July Fourth hot dog eating contest on Coney Island.The 100-pound Thomas of Alexandria, Va., is the reigning wing-eating champion. She downed 181 wings to win the 2010 contest. Chestnut of San Jose, Calif., settled for second with 169 wings.

The winner gets $1,500. The runner-up wins $750, and third place gets $300. Thomas is called the Black Widow becomes she often beats male competitors in eating contests.

Akshay Kumar to buy IPL team

Akshay Kumar, a famous Indian actor has paced all of his hopes on his new film “Thank You”. Akshay has not given any block buster film since a long time.

Yesterday, on the premiere of “Thank You”, answering the question about whether he is thinking to buy an IPL team in near future, he said that “First let ‘Thank You’ do well. If it does, I will consider buying an IPL team.”

In the past seasons of tournament Ashkay Kumar served as the ambassador of IPL Delhi.

Suniel Shetty, the co-star of Akshay Kumar in his new film “Thank You” added that “I will buy stakes in that IPL team which Akshay will buy if our film Thank You does well.”

 

IPL starting from tomorrow

 

IPL T20 is one of the biggest event tournaments of the sports world. It is played every year in the summer season of Indian Subcontinent. The first match of the tournament will be played between the teams of Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday 8 April.

 

Changes in format of IPL

 

Some changed have been made in the format of IPL this time. Total 74 matches are scheduled to play in the tournament; there will be with two Qualifiers, one eliminator and the champion which will be decided lastly in the final.

Klitschko retains WBC heavyweight title

World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko retained his title with a 10th round stoppage against a game, but hopelessly outclassed Albert Sosnowski at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

It was largely unimpressive from Klitschko, a workmanlike performance at best against an overwhelming underdog who showed great heart and courage, even managing to back Klitschko up on occasions. By the ninth, Klitschko stepped up his attacks, and took the Poles heart with some heavy shots. It was by some way the champion’s most attacking round; by the end of that stanza, Sosnowski was in trouble, on the ropes.
Klitschko, with his fourth defence of the WBC title, following his return to the ring in 2008 after four years away through injury and surgery, moved to 40 wins, two losses. Sosnowski suffered his third loss in 49 career fights.

Perplexed PCB Confirms Sami & Rehman In Pakistan T20 Squad

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt exercised his powers and said that the opinion of the skipper, coach and chief selector have no value. He said that he has undone the decisions previously taken.

According to PCB sources, injured fast bowler Umar Gul and all-rounder Yasir Arafat would be replaced with pacer Mohammad Sami and spinner Abdul Rehman in the Pakistan squad for the ICC World Twenty20 starting later this month.

On Sunday Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, coach Waqar Younis and chief selector Mohsin Khan had told reporters that fast bowlers Sami and Mohammad Irfan would be the replacements. They said that Sami and Irfan had been approved by the PCB chief. But after half an hour the board issued a press release, saying Ijaz was yet to give his assent.

The PCB said the selectors did not follow the procedure for replacements. This confusion between the administration and the selectors made Pakistan cricket a laughing stock.

Defending champion Salina Kosgei won third place in 2 hours 28 minutes and 35 seconds.

Pak Chess Team Leave For India

LAHORE: Two-member Pakistani chess team left for India via friendship bus to take part in Asian Zonal 3.2 Championship.

The event, which is a qualifying round of World Chess Champion, will be held from August 9 to 18 in Indian capital Delhi.

India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh and Bhutan are taking part in the championship. Amir Karim and Tanveer Gilani representing Pakistan on self financed basis.
