Ranbir Kapoor to put on weight for Barfee

Irony cannot get ironical than this! The Gen-Next heart throb Ranbir Kapoor is apparently all set to gain weight for Anurag Basu’s Barfee (which was earlier called as Silence).

Those in the know are aware of the fact that Ranbir’s character has been sketched on the lines of the legendary Charlie Chaplin. But, if the market buzz is to be believed, then, the latest addition is that Ranbir’s character will also flaunt Mr. Bean’s moves. News has it that, while Charlie Chaplin was Anurag’s idea, Bean was Ranbir’s brainwave. And in order to look the part, Ranbir is all set to gain weight.

One can only ‘weight’ and watch to see if Ranbir really lives up to the sweetness of Barfee.

Actor Pankaj Kapoor and director Bhavna Talwar’s first film together DHARM was a cinematic achievement. Naturally, their next project together, HAPPI, is looked forward by connoisseurs of cinema. The film was initially slated for release in December 2010, but the makers have decided to postpone the film to 15 April, 2011 for a valid reason.

Producer Sheetal Talwar explains, “We chose to postpone the release of HAPPI to coincide with the birth anniversary of Charlie Chaplin. HAPPI is told in a Chaplinesque manner and is a tribute to the cinema of Chaplin. Also, Pankaj Kapoor’s character in HAPPI is modelled on the lines of Charlie Chaplin; it’s a tribute to one of the best entertainers of the world. Hence, the postponement.”

For his starrer Happi directed by Bhavna Talwar, where Pankaj Kapoor plays the Charlie Chaplinesque role of homeless tramp in Mumbai, most of the dialogues and sounds have been captured live. However, some vital portions of the brilliant actor’s lines had to be dubbed in a studio.
Since Kapoor had to leave for Scotland to shoot for his first directorial venture, it was suggested that he dub the vital lines in Edinburgh at one of the poshest post-production studios in the world.
This week Pankaj Kapoor created recording history by being the first Indian actor to dub at the Canongate Studio in Edinburgh.
Speaking on behalf of Pankaj Kapoor, the film’s producer Sheetal Talwar said, “This is the studio where Sean Connery dubs for all his films. We needed to dub just a handful of Pankaj-ji’s lines. So we decided, why not do it at one at of the best post-production studios in the world since we were shooting right next to it.”
Pankaj Kapoor was accompanied to the world-famous recording studio by his son Shahid Kapoor who wanted to get a feel of the way voices are dubbed in a studio that has recorded Connery’s baritone for decades.

charlie davies

Charles Davies’ quest to make the U.S. team for the 2010 World Cup seems to have ended, with the Sochaux striker omitted from the United States’ 30-man preliminary roster.

U.S. Soccer announced the squad today, and the Sochaux striker, who suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries in an October car crash, was omitted from the team.

Davies could still find a place on the team as an injury replacement; however, he will not be with the team that’s called into camp at Princeton university on Saturday.
I delve into this, let me just preface it by saying that I have always been a Bob Bradley supporter; anyone who reads this site knows that. But on this occasion, I’m really having a hard time backing his decisions, as some of the names on this roster in place of one Charlie Davies really have me scratching my head. charlie davies
or starters, Robbie Findley got the call. The same Robbie Findley that left Real Salt Lake’s game last weekend with an injury and has struggled with knocks all season, failing to really produce. The same Robbie Findley that wasn’t very effective against Honduras or El Salvador, two “B” teams, let alone against a World Cup caliber squad like the Netherlands in March. You mean to tell me that an 80% Charlie Davies can’t add the same things that a dinged up Robbie Findley can? What harm is there in getting an in-person look at Chuck to see what kind of progress he’s making? Why not use two weeks of camp, during which he could continue to make the stunning progress that he’s already made over the last six months?

Bob Bradley stated that Davies was not yet “medically cleared” by Sochaux, but this really smacks of a cop-out or a severe degree of information asymmetry. I don’t see how a player could participate in full-contact training if he wasn’t medically cleared, and Charlie seemed to be under the impression that he was cleared as well. Bob also said he wanted Charlie to continue to rehab; wasn’t Charlie done rehabbing weeks ago? And what will staying at Sochaux give him that working out with the USMNT won’t? He’ll get fitness work and training in at either place, and at Princeton there’s at least the chance that he surprises us (it’s not like he hasn’t done that before…) and shows everyone that he’s actually ready to at least fill a substitute role in South Africa. I’ll say it again: I really don’t see what the downside would have been to putting Charlie on the 30 man roster. I don’t think leaving Robbie Findley at home in favor of bringing Chuck would have been an egregious offense, particularly after everything Charlie has done and everything that Robbie really hasn’t done. I just don’t get it. Someone please explain it. Bringing Charlie to Princeton doesn’t force into bringing him to South Africa, and it’s really not denying a noticeably better option their spot in the mix.

I’m sure some of you reading this are out there on your high horse, looking down your nose at my reaction to this, thinking to yourself that it shouldn’t matter what Charlie has done, just what he can do in June. Well, to all of you out there who scoff at angry fans like me, I challenge you: tell me why Robbie Findley is a better option than bringing in Charlie Davies to get a look. Convince me that bringing in a dinged up forward that has looked out of his depth at the international level, hasn’t shown much in the way of form in recent weeks, and will likely not be in the final roster anyways is a better option than bringing in a player who has proven himself to be a quality international player and has the potential to continue his incredible progress and be ready to make an impact by mid-June. Convince me that there would be severe negative repercussions to bringing Davies to camp and getting an in-person look at exactly where he’s at. Convince me that conferring with Sochaux, a club that is clearly going to want to be conservative with what essentially amounts to there long-term asset, is enough to support a decision like this. Tell me what the downside would be to bringing Charlie.

Lost Season 6 Episode 11:Watch Happily Ever After Online S06E11 – Lost Season 6, Episode 11 called “Happily Ever After” which was directed by Jack Bender and written by Carlton Cuse & Damon Lindelof aired last night on ABC.
The Desmond-centric episode which is being considered as one the best episodes so far,had some head-spinning mythology,old-fashioned human romance and drama/action scenes worth remembering.
“Happily Ever After” did not provide us with any real answers (to be honest the series will end and some of Lost mysteries will never be unraveled) but it sure did give us some clues and guidance as to what will be.

So what did we learn last night:
-Faraday is actually a Widmore.
-Eloise who once tried to get the Oceanic 6 back on the island is Charles’ wife.
-The two time-lines will be converging.
-And destiny can not keep true love apart just ask Penny and Desmond.

Desmond Hume (Henry Ian Cusick) arrives in Los Angeles at the behest of his employer, Charles Widmore (Alan Dale). Charles informs Desmond that his son Daniel Widmore (Jeremy Davies), a classical musician, has invited the rock band Driveshaft to perform alongside him that evening. The band’s bass guitarist, Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan), has been arrested for possessing drugs, and Charles requires Desmond to collect and deliver him to Daniel’s event. Upon their meeting, Charlie tells Desmond that he recently almost died after swallowing a bag of heroin, and in his near-death state experienced an intense, blissful vision in which he was with a blonde woman. He causes Desmond to crash his car into a nearby marina, and while Desmond attempts to rescue Charlie from the water, he too experiences a vision, seeing Charlie drowning with the words “Not Penny’s Boat” written on his palm. The two are taken to a hospital, where Desmond has a short series of visions of Penny (Sonya Walger), a stranger to him.

After discharging himself from the hospital, Desmond apologizes to Charles’ wife Eloise Widmore (Fionnula Flanagan) for being unable to ensure the attendance of Driveshaft. Nearby employees are discussing the guest-list for Daniel’s concert, and Desmond hears the name Penny mentioned. Eloise refuses to let him see the list, and warns him off of pursuing his enquiries. As Desmond prepares to leave, he is stopped by Daniel, who tells him that he recently saw a red-haired woman in a local museum that he strongly felt he already knew and loved. Daniel states that after the encounter, he made a series of notes in his journal which a mathematician friend has identified as quantum physics, a topic he knows nothing about. He hypothesises that the world as he and Desmond are experiencing it is the aftermath of a nuclear explosion which has altered their realities. Daniel informs Desmond that Penny is his half-sister, and tells him where he can find her. Desmond locates Penny running the steps of an athletics stadium, and introduces himself. He briefly falls unconscious, and during this point he awakens back on the Island; afterward he recovers and asks Penny for coffee, an invitation which she accepts. As his driver George Minkowski (Fisher Stevens) takes him to their meeting point, Desmond asks him to acquire the flight manifest for Oceanic 815, the flight which brought him to Los Angeles.

2007

After being shot by Ben Linus (Michael Emerson) in the episode “Dead Is Dead”, Desmond awakens to discover that Charles has brought him back to the Island. Desmond attacks Charles, who tells him the Island is not done with him, and that unless Desmond helps him, everyone he loves will be gone forever. He has his team prepare an electro-magnetic test, which kills a team member in the path of the solenoids as they set up. Desmond is bound to a chair and locked in with the solenoids as the test is run. He falls unconscious for a few seconds and awakens calm, agreeing to help Charles. As Charles’ team lead Desmond away, they are ambushed by Sayid Jarrah (Naveen Andrews), who takes Desmond away with him.

In closing we would have to say that it was a pretty good episode that had one very important scene:
Desmond disappearing from the main reality between those two gigantic spinning pillars of energy.
The one scene made the entire thing worthwhile and proved once and for all there is a link between the worlds and it will be great to see what goes down when he finds the Flight 815 passenger list and spread the truth about the other reality.
As always we have to ask a couple of questions: Should we be worried about Desmond? He seems to be very vulnerable as he will followed Sayid around?
Is Eloise good or evil?

What are your thoughts on the episode?

That’s all we have for now on Lost Season 6 Episode 11.
