ISLAMABAD: Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the opposition leader in the National Assembly (NA), claimed on Wednesday that the government would have tough time on the issue of Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST) in the NA.

While talking to the journalists here, he said that the government took dictation from abroad, adding that the RGST is being imposed ignoring the facts.

We Support Indiscriminate Accountability: PM Gilani

News Trends: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the government endorsed transparent and indiscriminate accountability.
Addressing the National Assembly, the PM rejected the perception that the government is against the people while the Opposition is not, saying that the people should themselves realize which policy is better for them.

He lamented that accountability was not transparent during the previous regimes. He alleged the Opposition of targeting one institute and that also on purpose. Reply to Nawazs letter would certainly be sent after return of President Zardari, the PM told the NA. Referring to the interception of ministers cars at Shahra-e-Dastoor, the Premier said no such incident took place even the minster named are not confirming it; I even talked to the COAS regarding the issue. Regarding the IMF loan issue and the conditions set by the organization, Gilani said that I did take the Cabinet on board in this respect. About reformed GST Bill, he said that only MQM had some reservations over it who contacted the Finance Minister to get them addressed. He said that all the four Chief Ministers approved the RGST Bill. The provinces asked the federation to give Rs 160 billion in aid for the flood victims, Reformed GST is the only way to help the flood victims, the PM asserted.

Earlier, while addressing the NA, Chaudhry Nisar maintained that even the House was not taken on board vis–vis RGST Bill let alone the allies.
He said that the PM did announce to consult us all but he did not. He warned those at the helm against anti-public decisions.

Govt should mend its ways: Nisar

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday called upon the Government to mend its ways.
Addressing the NA session, Nisar said Pakistan Muslim League Nawas has not demanded any unconstitutional step for the change, we have even not called for mid-term polls or Martial Law.

However, he affirmed that his faction could be a hindrance for government if rulers continued their unparliamentarily attitude.

He said the Pakistan Peoples Party should detach its ministers from the Punjab cabinet if the ruling party has objections over the provincial government. Chaudhry Nisar had declared on Monday that midterm polls could be one of the options to get rid of the present rulers.Mid-term election is an option. Whenever there is talk about this, hue and cry is started in power corridors, the opposition leader said while talking to reporters outside the Parliament House.This was for the first time that the PML-N has talked about the possibility of mid-term elections in clear terms.

Ready to play role to make Parliament capable: Ch. Nisar

ISLAMABAD: The Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, has said that if the governance norms do not change then we are ready to play a role to make the Parliament capable of its task.

Ch. Nisar said, during his National Assembly’s address on Thursday, that the Charter of Democracy (COD) has been implemented only 25 percent, instead of the claimed 80 percent.

He added that the Prime Minister presented, before the public, a twisted version on martial law and mid-term elections while just because of the ignorance of the government, the Accountability Bill has turned a victim of delay.

“The Speaker of the National Assembly must take a suo moto action against the attack on the house of an honorable member,” Chaudhry Nisar added. Trend Pk

Presidsent announces to hold local body elections

President Asif Ali Zardari has announced to hold the local body election in a period of 6 months whereas the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that people have become fed-up of the present set up and are praying for their departure, Dunya News reported on Monday.
Talking to the media men in Karachi after a meeting of the provincial cabinet of Sindh presided over by the President, Information secretary of PPP Fauzia Wahab has said that the President has directed the provincial legislators to start preparing for the local body elections. The information secretary also said that discussions were held on the issues of law and order, load shedding, inflation, agriculture, education, irrigation, finance and the recent wave of dengue fever.

PML-N active after PML-Q, PPP meetings

After meetings between the leadership of PPP and PML-Q, pml-n has also gained momentum and decided for a cor committee meeting to plan PML-Ns rection to the recent developments, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
The date for the core committee meeting would be announced within the next 24 hours. Mian Nawaz Sharif would preside over the meeting while Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Raja Zafar ul Haq, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa anod other senior members of PML-N would pariticipate in the meeting. The meeting would discuss and analyze the recent developments including the appointment of Chairman NAB, the wilful negligence on the part of the government to implement the judicial decions as well as other political things.

PML-N challenges NAB chief’s appointment

LAHORE: PML-N on Saturday challenged the appointment of Justice (retd.) Deedar Hussain Shah as NAB’s chairman in the Supreme Court.

The application was filed by opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan through senior lawyer Akram Sheikh.

The applicant argued that legal requirements were not fulfilled regarding the appointment of NAB’s new chief.

Under Clause 6 of the NAB Ordinance, it is necessary to hold consultations with the opposition leader. However, he was ignored by the government.

In another application, he pleaded that the court stops NAB chief from working till the Supreme Court gives a ruling about the legal standing of his appointment.

It may be reminded here that two applications have already been filed in Lahore and Sindh high courts against the appointment of NAB’s chairman. SAMAA
