PML-Q Hints at Forming Federal Govt. With PPP

LAHORE, News Trends: According to sources of PPP and PML-Q, two political parties have resolved confronting the other political giant – PML-Q – at the federal government level.

PML-Q also indicated to join PPP-led coalition at Federal Government level to pose serious threat to other coalition partners of PPP in the government.

Earlier on Monday, Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Babar Awan and Central Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi after holding a meeting here on Monday said Pakistan People’s Party and PML-Q are hand-in-hand on national issues.

Babar Awan and Pervez Elahi were briefing the media men after holding a meeting at the latter’s residence.

Babar Awan said the role of their parties may be different but their objective is the same. There is no place for arrogance in politics and that there should be respect for all parties whether inside or outside the Parliament, he added.

He said PML-Q is an active parliamentary participator and one of the main stakeholders in the country’s politics.

“We have a unanimity of views on national interests,” the Federal Law Minister remarked, adding that a culture of tolerance, harmony is a way forward for the people of Pakistan.

He said PPP has gone to each and every party in the country. “We went to Mansoora and the leadership of Jamat-e-Islami and we also met with politicians in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa,” he added.

Babar Awan said he appreciated the advice given by PML-Q during the meeting for pro-people agenda and good governance and that the same would be conveyed to the Prime Minister.

PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on the occasion said it is imperative to sit together in view of the challenges the country is presently faced with.

Federal Law Minister Dr Babar Awan and Chaudhry Pervez are scheduled to meet today.The two leaders would be discussing the current political scenario and other matters of national interest in the meeting. According to the sources, Dr Awan is holding this meeting after getting the green signal from President Zardari. Since Dr Awan has been widely castigating the policies of PML(N), his meeting with Chaudhry Elahi is being given great significance.

Pervez Musharraf warns Sharif brothers on behavior

LONDON: Former Pakistani president, General (retd.) Pervez Musharraf, has warned the Sharif brothers, Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, to remain in their limits, adding that he will respond in the same manner.

He also said that Nawaz Sharif was sent to Saudi Arabia on the request of Shah Abdullah.

The former president said that he will return Pakistan before the next election.

He said this during an interview. Musharraf said that there are no cases against him and if there is any, he added, it would be political.

He disclosed that his meetings with Benazir Bhutto were on the insist of Chaudhry brothers (Chaudhry Shaujat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi). The Chaudhry brothers pressed to sign NRO.

Objectionable parts of speeches to be removed: Sanaullah

LAHORE: The Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullha has hinted at repulsion of objectionable portions from anti-media speeches, which delivered in Punjab Assembly on July 5 and 7, Geo news reported Monday.

Talking to media here on floor of the house, he said anti-media speeches, delivered in Punjab Assembly on July 5 and 7, would be presented before a committee of assembly and the objectionable portions would be eliminated from them.

“Media and Assembly are not only indispensable but also incomplete without each other”, he maintained.

“Any misunderstanding between media and assembly would be removed if surfaced in future”, he indicated.

Criticizing Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Rana said he cannot become chief of a village even if all dwellers die.

He vowed not to let supporters of a dictator fracture democracy.

The session started one hour late under the chair of speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal. Opposition leaders demanded that they should be given a chance to speak on Point of Order. They maintained that an hour was wasted on self-praising speech of a minister and opposition wasn’t given an opportunity to speak. Opposition demanded that all the unparliamentarily words used during yesterday’s proceeding must be eliminated from the record and membership of such members be cancelled who use unparliamentarily word again. Opposition shouted slogans of ‘go minister go’ when Law Minister Rana Sanaullah entered the house. Treasury benches also raised slogans in response to the opposition slogans.
Law Minister on the other hand said that thief and robbers should be given a chance to speak and he would answer to them. Opposition leaders got more volatile on this statement and demanded an apology on it. They said that law minister should be kept out of house unless he learns manners.
Addressing the House Sanaullah said that he had brought evidence with him. Showing documents of a land’s registry he said that documents clearly showed that Moonis Elahi son of Pervaiz Elahi bought this land worth Rs 375 million. He announced to resign if the evidences were found incorrect.
Background
In PA session yesterday, Sanaullah had said that thousands of acre government owned land was acquired by Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and his family during his tenure and not a single penny was paid for that. He claimed that Rs 11 billion of robbery occurred in Punjab Bank during last government’s tenure. “Haris Steel Mills Director and Himesh Khan gave statements that Moonis Elahi received Rs 5.5 billion. On opposition’s demand, he had announced to present the evidences in the house.
