Multan may be flooded as Chenab continues to swell

Lower areas of the city are likely to be inundated by tremendous flow of water.

As per details, about 127,000 cusecs water has been released from Tarimu Headworks on Chenab which would enter Multan in 24 hours.

According to the Metrological Department, the level of water is rising with the passage of time which may flood the lower areas in Multan.

According to Flood Control Department, the flow of water may be raised by 150,000 cusecs.

As a precautionary measure, bunds and dykes on both sides of Chenab are being monitored.

Puri was all set with his directorial venture Chenab Gandhi which was to be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But Bhansali made Puri wait for almost a year, something that wasn’t appreciated by the young filmmaker. Not wasting anymore time, Vibhu approached Ravi Chopra, who will now be producing the film. Though one would expect a lot of bad blood to run between Bhansali and Puri, but it isn’t so. In fact, Puri he has even penned four songs in Guzaarish. As for Chenab Gandhi, there is news that many couple of stars have been short listed for the cast, but their names are yet to be revealed.

Indian unprovoked firing at Sialkot boundary

SIALKOT: Indian troops opened unprovoked fire at the working boundary in Sialkot but Pakistan’s Chenab Rangers with counter fire silenced the Indian guns.

Indian security forces opened intermittent fire at Sialkot working boundary from 8:00 to 8:30 on Wednesday morning without any provocation but no losses reported in the firing.

Pakistan’s Chenab Rangers opened counter fire after which the Indians closed their firing.

India working to dry up river Chenab as well

734f6d4a0050x131 India working to dry up river Chenab as wellIndia is planning to construct Swal Kot Dam. After the construction of the dam river Chenab would also dry up like Ravi. Swal Kot Dam is expected to be higher than Tarbela and Mangla.

The height of the Swal Kot Dam is 646 feet and the storage capacity of Swal Kot Dam is expected to be 13 times higher than the disputed Baglihar Dam. In comparison the height of Tarbela is 485 feet while Mangla is 453 feet high. The project would cost $2 billion dollars and would produce 1200 MW of electricity. Swal Kot Dam is being constructed on river Chenab near the district Doda and Udham Pur which is just 70miles away from Pakistan. The design of the dam has been prepared by a Norwegian company.

River Chenab would be completely dried up if the construction of the project would go ahead. Experts believe that if the construction is not stopped then the Pakistani economy specially the Agriculture sector would be completely destroyed.

IAF Chopper Crashes in Jammu and Kashmir

5c2966a5d9ashmir IAF Chopper Crashes in Jammu and KashmirKashmir: IAF Chopper Crashes in Jammu and Kashmir, A helicopter of Indian Air Force on Friday crashed and sank in the river Chenab in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

It is feared that the victims in the crash, said Deputy Commissioner Sharifudeen.

The helicopter of the IAF, which was in a regular outlet, flew low over the Chenab river when it got caught in a fire in a jumper cable and crashed into the water reservoir of the Baglihar hydroelectric power project in Tringel in the district of Doda.

He turned Nawapachi area Kishtawar district.

The exact number on board the helicopter is not known as the helicopter has plunged into the water body.

A rescue operation was launched by the army and the police said.

IAF carries out regular raids on the landlocked mountainous area Nawapachi for transporting rations, weapons and ammunition for the troops stationed there.
