b6ddMiley Cyrus Kids Choice Awards 2011 600x300 Miley Cyrus explains being religious and supporting gay marriage

TrendPK.com: Miley Cyrus has stood up for her religion and her support of gay marriage, something that allegedly has some people questioning her.

Cyrus recently opened up to explain both matters as others apparently have a problem with her being Christian and in support of same-sex marriage, states E! News. “A lot of people mocked me—they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love,” Cyrus explained to Glamour.com.

Cyrus thinks that it is okay to debate these matters, but that it needs to be handled better: “The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me … Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?”

Do you like how she stands up for this?

ARRahmans clarification on Hosanna

January 20, 2012 by

A. R. Rahman made news with his latest compositions in the film Ek Deewana Tha, however an excess of anything can spell doom, and the same is the case with the track ‘Hosanna‘ which has been making waves in the music world.

While on one hand the track has been growing in popularity with each passing day, on the other hand, a certain group from the Christian Secular Forum (CSF) in Mumbai have raised a strong objection to the use of the word ‘Hosanna’, which apparently is a sacred term used within prayer songs. It is learnt that the word ‘Hosanna’ is a prayer in the Bible that is used by both Jews and Christians. While in the film, the same word is used in a song and dance sequence where a guy is proposing to his girl.

Clarifying about the outrage the song has caused composer Rahman said, “As with any film project I work on, I had spent several months researching before composing/writing all the songs for Ekk Dewaana Tha and had consulted friends who are Christian in particular about the use of the word ‘Hosanna’ in this song. The song was a sensation when it was released in the South a couple of years ago and it went on to win all possible music awards and was well received by all communities! Therefore I am deeply concerned about the sentiments of all those who appear to be hurt by this song.”

Further lyricist Javed Akhtar added saying, “When we write lyrics with great composers such as Mr. Rahman, who is one of the most respectable human beings I have had the pleasure of working with, the intention is never to insult any religion, why would we?”

The spokesperson from the production house, Fox Star Studios says, “Our organisation, our music partners Sony Music Entertainment, our Producers and all of us are responsible organisations and our view is that more often than not creativity, freedom of speech and expression in art form are stifled by some people who have their own agendas. We have replied to Mr. Joseph Dias of CSF today by letter.”

Salman Taseers son kidnapped

August 27, 2011 by

Four men on motorbikes intercepted Shahbaz Taseer in his car in the Gulberg area and took him to a nearby street before whisking him away, police said, quoting witnesses.

“Shabhaz was out with a friend when four unidentified people kidnapped him,” his brother Sheryar Taseer told.

“Our family has been receiving threats from the Taliban and extremist groups,” he said, adding they could be behind the abduction. No one has yet claimed the responsibility.

The governor, Salman Taseer, of the ruling Pakistan People s Party, was killed by his own bodyguard early this year after he came out in support of a woman accused of committing blasphemy.

Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of four, was sentenced to death in a case stemming from a village dispute, putting Pakistan s harsh blasphemy law in the spotlight. Shahbaz Taseer s abduction is the second high-profile kidnapping in Lahore this month.

Police are still searching for an American aid expert who was kidnapped about two weeks ago.

Warren Weinstein, 70, the country director for J.E. Austin Associates Inc., had been working on a project in Pakistan s northwestern tribal areas where Pakistani troops have been battling Islamist insurgents for years.

Up to eight assailants kidnapped Weinstein in a pre-dawn raid on his house in Lahore on August 13.

Hamas leaded for resistance forces against Jewish settlement

August 19, 2011 by

The statement came after the Jerusalem municipality’s recent approval for the construction of 930 new housing units in the Israeli settlement Har Homa beyond the Green Line.

The decision attests to that the Zionist mentality is to uproot the indigenous people, especially those in Jerusalem, Masri said in comments on Saturday.

Masri said that Israel is ‘’swallowing up’’ the city in stages with settlement and displacement of its residents, starting with Palestinian politicians and figures, but not ending with the removal of Jerusalem’s landmarks and names and attempts to erase the Muslim and Christian presence in the city so that the Jewish character prevails.

Masri further said he rejected Israel’s settlement policies in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and stressed that the continued ‘’intrusion’’ called for releasing the West Bank resistance forces and ending the Palestinian Authority’s security coordination with Israel and uniting in the face of the large-scale settlement plan.

He also called for resistance forces in the West Bank to aim strikes at Israel, saying that the calm is what has given the Israelis the courage to target the land.

The 83rd Academy Awards took place last night in Hollywood. The critics have been fairly harsh on this year’s hosts, James Franco and Anne Hathaway, but Franco took most of the flack. Sarah Palin Blood Libal

Breaking News: Former Governor of state Alaska Sarah Palin claims that she is the victim of “blood libel,” a reference to the anti-Semitic claim that Jews sacrifice Christian children. 59895984Blood Libal1 Sarah Palin Blood LibalA Jewish woman got a bullet through her brain, but the former Governor is casting herself as the victim because some people have criticized her. The “blood libel” allegation is especially rich coming from someone who repeatedly insisted that health care reform would create the “death panels” to kill the elderly, and disabled the children. Sarah Palin wrote last week:

“The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”

Sarah Palin
recorded a video in response to Tucson shooting, the tragedy happened on Saturday. In response to the criticism she’s received for using gun sights on a map of congressional districts. The Jewish groups and others reacted swiftly; Plain had associated her political plight with centuries of anti-Semitic behavior. A “blood libel” is actually a term that keeps the minds back to the middle Ages, when in religious rituals. Jewish people were accused of using the blood of Christians.

Bomb explosion kills at least 8 in Central Nigeria

A bomb explosion killed at least 8 people and injured 8 others in a village near the central Nigerian city of Jos on Friday, police said.

The state information office said 20 people were killed in the explosions but police could not confirm this. Hundreds of people died in religious and ethnic clashes at the start of the year in the Middle Belt, the central region of Africa’s most populous nation where the mostly-Muslim north meets the predominantly Christian south. There have been localised outbreaks of violence since then. The tension is rooted in decades of resentment between indigenous groups, mostly Christian or animist, who are vying for control of fertile farmlands and for economic and political power with migrants and settlers from the north.
