The first postseason no-no was Don Larsen’s perfect game in 1956. It was Halladay’s second no-hitter of the season. He walked 1 batter and struck out 8, using just 103 pitches. Perhaps most impressive? This was the first postseason start of Halladay’s career. Oh, and he drove in a run.

Richard Russell Sell everything”

Reading Richard Russell’s daily notes are like reading a real-time history book. Like any investor, he is often wrong, but his knowledge of the history of the market is truly unmatched. He is one of the few men who is still around to tell us about the Great Depression and how similar today’s economy feels. Russell has become increasingly bearish since early April. He says the market is crumbling and believes the internals are so bad that the market is very vulnerable to substantial downside. He even goes so far as to say the we won’t recognize the country by the end of this year. “There’s a hard rain coming”. Yikes:

“The market is crumbling, in the face of rosy news this is the worst kind of action. The market is severely oversold now, and if we don’t get a bounce next week, it’s “Katie, bar the door.” My PTI was down 6 to 6116. MA was 6075, so my PTI remains bullish by a shrinking 41, lowest in weeks. June gold gave up less than two bucks today, which is great relative strength action. GDX closed higher today, which is bullish for gold. This market action is catching investors by complete surprise, and as such it is proving very costly. Billions in paper values are being lost.

Finally, it’s happening. The stock market has “lost its mind.” The poor thing is falling apart, when every sane investor knows that the market “should be” going up as it discounts the almost certain better economy that lies ahead. Then I remember that the stock market reflects what everybody knows about everything and anything that pertains to business and the forthcoming economy. So alas, the stock market has finally gone insane. It’s not telling us what we already know.

I search Saturday’s Wall Street Journal and right on the front page I read, “The recovery is beating expectations as data show consumer and manufacturing strength.”

Then I look at the latest issue of Barron’s and right on the cover I read, “STRONGER THAN EVER – America’s biggest companies are sitting on loads of cash and ready to earn higher profits than ever before. What it means for the economy, dividends and your investments.”

And I ask myself, “Am I seeing things? The April 26 high for the Dow was 11205.03. The Dow is selling as write at 10557 down 648 points from its April high. If business is even better than expected, then why is the Dow down over 600 points? And why, if there were 674 new highs on the NYSE on April 26, were there only 20 new highs on Friday, May 14? And if my PTI was 6133 on April 26, why is it down 17 points since its April high?
The fact is that I’ve been seeing deterioration in the stock market
ever since early-April, and this in the face of improving business
news. The D-J Industrial Average is composed of 30 internationally
known top-quality blue-chip stocks. These are 30 of “America’s biggest
companies.” If Barron’s is so bullish on the future of America’s
biggest companies, then why isn’t the Dow advancing to new highs?

Clearly something is wrong. But what could it be? Much as I love
Barron’s, I trust the stock market more. If I read the stock market
correctly, it’s telling me that there is a surprise ahead. And that
surprise will be a reversal to the downside for the economy, plus a
collection of other troubles ahead.

About Dow Theory — First, we saw the recent April highs in the
Averages. Then we saw a plunge in both Averages to their May 7 lows –
Industrials to 10380.43, Transports to 4298.12, next a short rally. If
ahead, the two Averages turn down and violate their May 7 lows, that
would be the clincher. Such action would signal the certain resumption
of the primary bear market.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati Reds Live Baseball Betting Odds: The MLB match between Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds will kick off on May 18, 2010 at 12:35 PM ET. This match is scheduled at Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Outstanding pitching has spurred Cincinnati’s surprising surge to the top the NL Central. The Reds’ chances of remaining there depend largely on starters such as Homer Bailey continuing their recent success.

Coming off the best performance of his career, Bailey takes the mound Tuesday as the Reds try to sweep a two-game home set with the struggling Milwaukee Brewers.

A 6-3 win over Milwaukee (15-23) kept Cincinnati (22-16) in first place for a second straight day, one-half game ahead of defending Central champion St. Louis. The Reds, who moved into the top spot by taking two of three from the Cardinals over the weekend, are in that position this late into a season for the first time since 2006.

Gallardo vs. Reds Hitting

Since being rocked by the St. Louis Cardinals on April 10th (six runs in five innings), Gallardo has been one of the most effective pitchers in the majors. In his last six starts, Gallardo is 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA, striking out 46 batters in just 35 innings. He has not allowed more than two runs in a game since that debacle against St. Louis. However, those who bet on MLB say the one criticism concerning Gallardo has been his inability to get deep into games. He still walks 3-to-4 batters a game, which raises his pitch count and keeps him from pitching deep. In his current winning streak, Gallardo has pitched past the seventh inning only once. It’s not a huge concern considering he’s continuing to win, but it’s something to keep an eye on.

Despite playing in the same division, Gallardo has little experience against the current Reds squad. Guys like Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Scott Rolen haven’t faced Gallardo enough to make an informed decision about who owns whom. The Red with the most at-bats against Gallardo is Brandon Phillips, who is hitting .308 (4-for-13) with one home run and three RBI’s against the righty. Votto versus Gallardo will be the matchup to watch; Votto leads all Reds in batting average (.292), home runs (8) and RBI’s (24).

Kenny Anderson Gets His College Degree 19 Years After Leaving School For NBA
After the child support and the squandered millions, Kenny Anderson was the one who registered for college, who mastered the digital classroom, who studied in his spare time.

“My son sees me with books in my knapsack and he says, ‘You’re 39 years old, you’re still going to school?’ ” Anderson said of his son Ken Jr., 9.

The payoff will come Saturday at St. Thomas University in Miami, when Anderson will don his cap and gown and graduate, 19 years after leaving Georgia Tech.6e726f1634zander kenny anderson
Kenny Anderson was very known in NYC as a top tier point guard, but I remember when he was playing at Georgia Tech as part of “Lethal Weapon 3,” with Dennis Scott (3-D) and Big Brian Oliver. They were a force on the court, making it all the way to the final four. I still remember when got drafted by the Nets. He was pretty good making it to one All Star game and playing in playoff games. After that he met Tami Anderson from the Real World Los Angeles and married her. After I remember that, it was like his world just turned upside down; moving from team to team, partying, infidelity, and having a big ego throughout his career. All this backfired from him leaving him broke, divorced and serious no education.

Now let’s fast forward to now. Kenny Anderson is now a NYC basketball hall of famer, he runs a basketball Academy at 24 Hour Fitness, which is a private company, and now he has done something that he should have done a long time ago, get his degree.

6th grader sings lady gaga

Before Greyson Michael Chance’s cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” became a YouTube smash, the Oklahoma sixth-grader was already a star in Kelly Cheek’s classroom. “He’s an amazing student to have,” Cheek, who’s been Chance’s choir teacher at Edmond, Okla.’s Cheyenne Middle School since January, tells the Music Mix. “He’s always playing the piano in class. The kids are always wanting him to sing for them. He’s the reason why I wanted to teach, because of kids like him.”

Chance represented Cheyenne at an annual choir festival for Edmond’s five middle schools this April 12. Cheek says he was originally planning to cover 3OH!3?s “Still Around” before a last-minute switch to “Paparazzi.” “He decided about a week before…He brought that song in one day after school and sang it for me. I just said, ‘You have to do that one! It’s amazing!’”
If this new fangled Internet machine has proven one thing to us, it’s that we wasted our youth smoking pot and reading comic books. It seems like every damn day there’s a video of some little turd doing some amazing music thing and we’re left trying to find someone to talk to about the time Psylocke showed some massive cleavage in the X-Men. This kid tackled Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” on the piano, which either makes him a rad dude or a weirdo; we’re not so certain what’s cool in middle schools these days.

While the above video doesn’t demonstrate any real musical anomaly it’s worth watching through and through to see the looks of his female classmates as he absolutely slays them in whatever competition this was. Sure, the little kid can sing, but we’ll hold off on calling him a phenomenon until he writes his own damn song

Melbourne, May 13 (ANI): Kendra Wilkinson’s relationship with husband Hank Baskett is on the rocks after her alleged sex tape with multiple partners emerged, say sources.

The former Playmate’s spouse is reportedly planning to split with her, as he is furious that she was shopping the video around, in 2008, when they were already engaged to be married, according to Hollywood Reporter.

“Hank is totally upset and embarrassed,” the Daily Telegraph quoted a source as telling Life and Style magazine of the sex tape.

The insider added: “The main reason he’s embarrassed is his team’s [possible] reaction. He needs to concentrate on his career right now, and this just creates more distractions for him.”

Celeb sex-tape broker Kevin Blatt claims Wilkinson’s manager approached him with the tape a couple of years ago.
Hank explodes with jealousy as Kendra humiliates him by selling her own sex tapes with another man. What she hid from her husband”

Now, we don’t know yet if this story is true, because well… you know how tabloids are. But this sex tape has surely affected the marriage in a way. Kendra and Hank also have a newly born baby so they must be really suffering from the upcoming release of Kendra’s sex tape. If I was Hank, I would be really upset, but on the other hand he knew she was a Playboy girl right? Not exactly the holiest of the jobs!

f639b2239cbeuke michael beukeLUCASVILLE, Ohio — Ohio executed a hitchhiker Thursday who admitted to killing one motorist who gave him a ride and shooting two others during a three-week string of shootings that terrorized the Cincinnati area in 1983.

Michael Beuke, 48, died by lethal injection at 10:53 a.m. EDT at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, about 90 minutes after the Ohio Supreme Court turned down his final appeal.

While on the gurney, Beuke recited the Roman Catholic rosary for 17 minutes before he died, choking back tears as he repeatedly said the Hail Mary. He also expressed his sorrow to the families of his three victims.

Beuke, dubbed by the media as the “homicidal hitchhiker,” spend a quarter century on death row, where he said he had a spiritual conversion. He expressed remorse for his crimes and said in an unsuccessful request for clemency that he accepted responsibility and prayed “that God will ease the pain I have caused my victims.”

Beuke was emotional as the hour of his death neared, crying frequently in his cell at the Lucasville prison, said Julie Walburn, an Ohio prisons spokeswoman.

He was convicted Oct. 5, 1983, of aggravated murder for the death of Robert Craig, 27, of Cincinnati and was sentenced to death. He also was found guilty of the attempted slayings of Gregory Wahoff of Cincinnati and Bruce Graham, then from West Harrison, Ind.

Late Wednesday night, Beuke lost appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court, failing to convince the majority that he’d been on death row so long the execution would be unconstitutionally cruel and serve no purpose and that prescription medicine he takes could interfere with a drug used in Ohio’s backup execution method. The state did not have to resort to the backup Thursday. Beuke died by Ohio’s primary, intravenous injection method.

The Ohio Supreme Court denied a last-minute stay Thursday morning, turning aside an appeal related to a previously unsuccessful claim that brain damage contributed to Beuke’s violent behavior. His lawyers said recent brain scans and expert conclusions showed Beuke suffered from moderate to severe brain damage.

He was the 38th person put to death in Ohio since the state resumed the practice in 1999.
