Annie Duke was born in Concord, NH on September 13, 1965. Card games were a frequent occurrence in the Lederer household, sparking a competitive desire in the young Annie just like it did with her brother Howard. Each member of the family did their best to win, and no one took losing lightly. This built the foundation for Annie Duke’s poker life. The attractive woman with shoulder-length brown hair stepped up to the low-limit Texas Hold ’em table in the Harrah’s Resort poker room and looked for a seat.
One man immediately stood up.
“I can’t play with you,” he said, picking up his chips and walking away.
The woman reached into her wallet, bought a stack of chips and got ready to play. She looked at her first two cards and tossed in chips to play her hand.

When it came time for the “showdown,” one opponent flipped over his hand to show an ace. The woman tossed her cards, face down, to the center of the table and complimented her opponent on the play.
“Now he can tell everybody that he beat Annie Duke,” one player said.
Duke, one of the top players on the professional poker circuit, was at Harrah’s Friday night and Saturday as part of its World Series of Poker satellite tournament. The big contest starts Thursday in Las Vegas.
Duke, as we noted in the interview, spends a lot of time teaching poker and we asked her what are the most important points she tries to get across to players. The answer: position is everything and bluffing, well, just don’t fall in love with it.
“I think a lot of players don’t really value position properly,” says Duke. “And particularly nowadays you see a lot of people play a lot of goofy hands right up front. I try to drive home just how big a disadvantage it is to be out of position on a poker hand.”

But Duke was much more pointed about players who over rely on bluffing.
Duke, 44, a resident of the Los Angeles area, came to Harrah’s to help support the World Series of Poker event.
Her presence adds a fun factor to the satellite tournament, as she interacts with the guests, poker room manager John Arthur said. Players often see the professionals on television but do not get a chance to talk with them in person.
And as she walked through the tournament area and the poker room Friday night, Duke did much more than sign autographs or pose for pictures. She chatted with fans and gave them tips on how to improve their game.
Duke signed several copies of an April issue of Card Player magazine, and she and Arthur walked around the poker room, handing them out as prizes to whoever won the next hand at each table.

Manny “Cuba” Vega, of the Chelsea section of Atlantic City, said it was awesome to meet Duke. He saw the advertisements of her appearance, and expected to see her at Harrah’s.

Former child actor, Bug Hall, played Alfalfa in “The Little Rascals” movie which was an update of the classic 1929-1938 shorts the “Our Gang Comedies”. Hall is now quite grown and apparently posting quite naked self pics on the internets! What would Darla say!
Keep in mind the pics are very NSFW!
OMG Blog came across Hall’s spread and subsequently shared them with the rest of us.
Oh, that little rascal! No, really, a Little Rascal! Bug Hall played Alfalfa in The Little Rascals move, which I did not see, and now, according to a tipster, he’s all grown up, pierced, shorn and tattooed, and putting his extremely nude pictures all over a very skanky, NSFW personals site called XPeeps.

Kathryn Grayson, Star of Classic Musicals, Is Dead: Seems hard to
believe now, but there was a time when they made movie musicals all the time, and even featured singers with true operatic voices. One of the finest, Kathryn Grayson, died Wednesday at 88, “of natural causes at her Los Angeles home,” according to her “longtime companion and secretary, Sally Sherman.
Miss Grayson had a good deal of what they used to call star quality, along with a pretty, flexible, well-focused soprano and abundant taste. Some of her film appearances in the 1940s and ’50s include “Show Boat,” “Kiss Me Kate,” and “Anchors Aweigh,” along with some movies with co-star Mario Lanza.
In memory of Miss Grayson, here are some clips that, I think, capture her musical personality beautifully:

Sania Mirza Crashes out of ASB Classic
AUCKLAND: Sania Mirza suffered her fourth successive defeat, a straight set mauling, at the hands of Italian Francesca Schiavone to crash out of Sania Mirza the ASB Classic WTA tournament on Wednesday.
The Indian lost 0-6, 3-6 to her fourth seed opponent in the second round of the $220,000 hard court event, thus making a disappointing start to the season.
The world number 17 proved too tough an opponent for Sania as she failed to get on board in the opening set.
Sania has never won a match against Schiavone, with whom she has paired in the past for the doubles competition on the tour.
Earlier, the Hyderabadi also crashed out of doubles competition after losing the first round along with Spaniard Virginia Pascual of Spain.
The second seeded pair suffered a shock 1-6, 6-7(6) defeat at hands of wild card entrants Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium and Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia.

Ugg Australia Women’s Classic Short Boots
Ugg Australia Women’s Classic Short Boots, I bought these shoes in a light pink in the summer and I haven’t taken them off since. They are versitile, comfortable, warm and ideal for walking long distances and shopping.
Just before buying them I’d been wearing strappy sandles and heals for 10-14 hours/day. After showing up for a peddicure with scabs and scars all over my poor feet, my nail lady told me to try some Uggs. So I did. My feet have healed, they are well insulated and stay moisturized because of the thick lining.
The uggs are so comfortable, infact, that they have inspired me to walk to work–1.5miles each way. How many shoes can you say that about? There is no break-in period, and they feel like you are wearing nice slippers in public.
I don’t worry about walking on ice in them because there isn’t a heel to twist an ankle on, and there is plenty of traction. Better than docs for the bad weather, actually, because the soles don’t freeze and they keep your feet PLENTY warm.
Ugg Australia Women’s Classic Short Boots
There are only three drawbacks: the suede–I didn’t treat it quick enough and now the water marks show from walking in the snow; and the casualness of them. As soon as I find uggs in something that works with a suit I’m set for life! In the meantime, I wear them to walk to work, change shoes in my office, and then switch back into them if I know I’m not going to meetings for a while. The third is the height, while I like the shorter boot for under jeans, it isn’t something that would look OK with anything else, and certainly looks goofy by itself.
These shoes are in my main closet with the rest of the shoes I will never part with–my docs and birks. They belong in that elite shoe category of classic, comfortable and well made. I can’t wait to get another pair.
