Aamir in ‘Dhoom 3′?

ef769e5a04amirk1 Aamir in Dhoom 3?

Has Aditya Chopra roped in Aamir Khan for the third installment of DHOOM? Believe me, everyone’s keen to know the answer to this question. What makes it interesting is that Aamir has been approached for the villain’s role in DHOOM 3 and if one looks back, the negative character in the DHOOM series has always had the meatiest part. Recall John Abraham in DHOOM and Hrithik Roshan in DHOOM 2.

Another reason why an announcement like this would hit headlines instantly is because Aamir and Yash Raj have not worked again after FANAA and if DHOOM 3 happens, it would be, without doubt, the most awaited project to look forward to, since Aamir, Yash Raj and the super-successful brand [DHOOM] happens once in a lifetime.

Of course, Aamir is non-committal about it. He is neither confirming the development, nor denying it. But knowing Aamir he wouldn’t comment on it till everything is worked out to the minutest detail and perhaps, DHOOM 3 is still in the planning stages right now. Even the spokesperson from Yash Raj tells me that the scripting is not in place as of now, so the question of casting just doesn’t arise.

Another combination people are extremely keen to watch is that of Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. There’s talk that at least two top notch producers are keen on casting SRK and Katrina together because [a] they haven’t worked together at all and [b] both are in the prime of their careers. In fact, the rumour gained momentum when SRK announced plans of making RA.ONE. At that point of time, there was speculation that Kat was being considered for the project. But the role eventually went to Kareena Kapoor.

The latest is, a leading production house is keen on casting SRK and Katrina for its ambitious venture. Katrina, however, maintains that they haven’t signed any film so far. “Yes, people are keen to see us together, but there’s nothing on the platter yet. The only film I’ve signed is Yash Raj’s next with Imran Khan. That’s it,” she tells me.

4d8e6e2178milan1 Milan Luthrias next will be thriller starring Emraan Hashmi

Milan Luthria the director of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai is simply on a roll. Deep into promotional activities for his film, he already has the platform set for his next. A project that is ready and slated to go on floors in September will feature Emraan Hashmi in the lead. Says Milan, “A lot of expectations are attached to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai that carries on to my next. Emraan and my combination works and therefore he is a natural choice. This film will be a crime thriller set in contemporary Mumbai.”

When asked about the story line of the film Milan says “It’s a kind of a trilogy that started with Taxi No 2011. That too was a story set in Mumbai and so is Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. The three films are not connected but are separate stories, though they have the same feel of Mumbai city. This third story is quite interesting and has a novel and unexpected ending.”

While this one is all ready to go on floors, there is another film with Ekta Kapoor that Milan is in the talks for. Says the director, “Yes Ekta discussed an idea with me for a story. It’s called The Dirty Picture. Ekta and I are very comfortable with each other. So it was natural for us to work together.”

But that isn’t all; Milan has the ball rolling for yet another project as he talks about a prospective film with Ajay Devgn. “Good offers are coming my way. Ajay and I have always worked together. I shared the story with him and he liked it very much. It’s too early to talk about it but I can tell you that it will be a multistarrer.”

oil spill

45d28d9710spill oil spill An oil slick covering 400sq miles is threatening a slow-motion catastrophe for the Gulf of Mexico’s delicate marine life, with 42,000 gallons (160,000 litres) a day now gushing from an uncapped well after a rig explosion.

Two days after declaring that there was no leak and that oil on the surface was residue from on board the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform that burst into a fireball on Tuesday, officials revealed that the slick was coming from the seabed and was now 25 times the size it was on Friday.

“It’s 1,000 barrels [a day] emanating from 5,000ft below the surface,” said Rear-Admiral Mary Landry, of the US Coast Guard, who is overseeing the emergency response. “Absolutely, this is a very serious oil spill.”

BP, which leased the rig, said last week that it was doing everything in its power to contain the spill and resolve the situation “as rapidly, safely and effectively as possible”, using underwater robots, 700 personnel, five aircraft, 32 vessels, and nearly 200 miles of floating booms.
One third of the global supply of oil dispersant is ready to be deployed.

Steve Benz, president of the Marine Spill Response Corporation, said yesterday: “At BP’s request, we are mounting the single largest response effort in MSRC’s 20-year history. We are confident in our ability to tackle this.”

Surface operations were at a halt yesterday because of stormy conditions with waves up to 10ft (3m) high.

Emerson, which held talks about a merger with Chloride in 2008, said that it asked for a response from Chloride’s board by yesterday evening, but has heard nothing.

The US firm added that as the 2008 discussions became ‘prematurely public and never achieved any meaningful level of engagement or consideration’ it has made its latest approach public so it can ‘directly engage’ with Chloride’s shareholders and other stakeholders.

Emerson added it believes that the combination of Emerson and Chloride will create a powerful force in the global uninterruptible power supply (“UPS”) market.

Sunsilk Fashion Week 2010

13848c1690k 2010 Sunsilk Fashion Week 2010The inspiration behind this collection comes for the art of Pakistan’s pre-eminent artist Saeed Akhtar. His latest work centers around tribal women, who he has given the most captivating aura in his paintings…I was able to design a whole collection based on their strangely beautiful faces and the energy in their form and movement. Quite simply, I can vividly imagine these gazelle like females gliding across the desert or reclining on the branch of a tree wearing one of the outfits from Élans PFW collection and being one with their surroundings. The collection is what I absorbed from his paintings primarily and then built upon by researching sub-continental tribal and desert landscape and culture.”

Khadijah Shah’s bring her brand Élan to fashion week with a complete collection of both Eastern Prêt a Porter and Haute Couture inspired by the artist Saeed Akhtar and his latest works. The Élan collection colour palette consists of olives, ochre’s, burgundies, crimson, deep hues of pink, burnt oranges and the essential black and gold. Indeed to the designer, these colours represent those of the sand, trees, sun, the evening desert sky and the colours in which tribal women are most often found. Expect ethnic embellishment with an emphasis on glass, maroori, zardozi and sitara work and fabrics including hand loom silks and chiffons.

Élan is a relatively young fashion label having been launched six years ago by Khadijah Shah. She is respected for her combination of intricate embellishments, flattering silhouettes and attention to detail in the construction of each outfit. Indeed each collection is conceived with glamour, elegance and versatility in mind. Khadijah Shah inherited her design aesthetic from her mother Aneela Shah, who had a small atelier and a loyal clientele for years before Élan was formerly launched. In a short span of six years, Khadijah has formalised and expanded this atelier and created an effective and influential place for her label in the Fashion Industry.
