Akshay Kumar endorsed Micromax phone loses its ‘bling’

There’s some bad news for those of you who are in love with the Akshay Kumar endorsed Micromax Mobiles. The news is that, Akki will no longer be able to say “It twinkles!” in the ad, while his wifey dearest Twinkle Khanna flashes a ‘Micromax Bling’ phone.

Reason? Well, Delhi High Court has restrained Micromax, from selling or advertising the ‘Bling’ brand as it acceded to a trademark violation filed by Delhi-based mobile phone maker Bling Telecom. The order states that the court has restrained Micromax, including its employees, agents, representatives, or anyone acting on their behalf, from using the trademark ‘Bling’ or any other name confusingly similar till the next date of hearing, February 8, 2011.

The court order (dated October 19, 2010), restrains the said company from displaying the Bling ads on TV and print.

Hopefully, Akshay will cover up for the missing ‘Bling’ with his presence in the commercials.

Saif and Bipasha roped in as brand ambassadors for Wynn Mobiles

After ‘Race-ing’ ahead of everyone, the successful pair of Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu will now be seen in a different avatar. This time round, they will be seen promoting the to-be launched mobile handsets called ‘Wynn Mobiles’, as they have been roped in as the brand ambassadors. Sources close to Bollywood Hungama say that the said brand will be having a grand launch by mid 2010 as they feel that it’s the right time to hit the market and reach the consumers. As far as the reason why they zeroed down on Saif and Bipasha, our source says, “The company was scouting for every single hit actor. But they chose to zero down on the Saif-Bips pair as they felt that it’s a safe bet to bank upon, as this pair has already delivered celluloid hits like Omkara and also Race. When asked about the commercials involved, our source added that it was indeed a practical way of saying ‘Sky is the limit’.

Repeated attempts to reach Saif and Bipasha and also their spokespersons proved futile.
