Mahesh Bhatt to make film based on slain JNU leader

Today when cinema and films no longer represent just the wild imaginative realm of thoughts and fantasies, but instead also deal with the current topics and issues plaguing the nation, we have our very own Mahesh Bhatt who recently announced yet another contemporary hard hitting film.
If the sources are to be believed then Mahesh, will be the creative consultant to a film being produced by Irfan Izhar. The film in question is based on Chandrashekhar Prasad, the student leader from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and an activist, who was shot dead in 1997 while addressing a gathering in Siwan, Bihar. Bhatt who has already begun casting for the said film, has finalised on Imran Zahid to play the character of Chandrashekhar in the film.
Producer Irfan Izhar is an NRI and an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University, who is currently based in Dubai. Bhatt who for sometime now has been vociferously talking about making meaningful cinema will now be engaged in giving much importance to real life heroes with films.
Alexander Mcqueen Death
Alexander Mcqueen Death, English fashion designer Alexander McQueen — who dressed celebrities like Adam Lambert, Amanda Bynes, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Michelle Tratchtenberg — was found dead in his London home early Thursday. Authorities say the style icon — famous for his use of tartan and tiny skulls on the runway — committed suicide.

Alexander was reportedly found hanged and police have said his death will “not be treated as suspicious.”
McQueen’s office confirmed news of his death in statement Thursday: “On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family….Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.”
The company’s communications director, Samantha Garrett, says McQueen’s body was found this morning, but she had no further information on how the designer died.
McQueen’s death comes just days before the start of London Fashion Week and weeks before he was due to unveil his new collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 9. One of his contemporary lines, McQ, was to be shown at New York Fashion Week Thursday afternoon. Despite his thriving career in design, Alexander had been struggling with the death of his beloved mother earlier this month. McQueen also never fully recovered from the suicide of his mentor, Isabella Bow, who helped the fashionista become a star before taking her own life three years ago.

Coakley Vs Brown
Coakley Vs Brown, One thing to remember is that whoever wins is only in for the remainder of Kennedy’s term, that is, ’til 2012. So if Brown wins, that’s not the catastrophe that the party line bloggers make it out to be.
And three caveats. First, if I were any good at 11 dimensional chess, I’d make my living playing it. Second, I don’t care how the press or Versailles reacts to anything. They are going to do what they do, because the electorate has no power over them. And third, I don’t live in MA, so I’m not telling anybody how to vote.
Let’s assume that I have become disillusioned — better, have come to a sense of reality about — the two legacy parties and how they work together. For example, it seems obvious that the D’s were allowed in to consolidate and rationalize Bush’s authoritarian gains — and maybe to put “entitlement reform” into place — and it seems equally obvious that the R’s will soon undergo a “surprising” resurgence to deal with any resulting unrest. To continue to vote for “the lesser evil” simply ratifies the D/R oscillation, which is killing us — and in the case of health insurance, really is killing us, at a rate of several tens of thousands of deaths a year.
Let’s further assume that there’s good reason to think that others have come to a similar sense of reality. Polling shows this:
Two in five Democratic voters either consider themselves unlikely to vote at this point in time, or have already made the firm decision to remove themselves from the 2010 electorate pool. Indeed, Democrats were three times more likely to say that they will “definitely not vote” in 2010 than are Republicans.
Now, I have no evidence on which voters comprise that “reality-based” 40%, but I would bet it’s mostly the voters that the Obama campaign and administration threw under the bus during the primary and over the last year (including many, many women).
And let’s further assume that I think that there ought to be a new party — we might call it the Justice Party — distinct from the two legacy parties.
How would these considerations affect my vote, if I lived in MA? Well, one thing I might want to do is damage the legacy parties as much as possible*, so that space for newer parties and movements would open up. (Note that I have no expectation whatever that my vote will make the slightest difference in Versailles, at least in the short term, since Versailles is not responsive to the electorate. My vote, and what the press says, and what the parties say, are all independent variables.)
1. For the reality-based 40% to which I belong, voting for “None of the Above” would send a message from us, to us, in a very public way, that shows we exist in large numbers. “None of the above,” for now, would be our “place to go,” until something like the Justice Party materialized. (It’s important to vote and leave the ballot blank at the top, and to vote for neither Coakley nor Brown, because those ballots are still counted. Voters who just stay home are not counted.)
2. Further, if making sure that the health insurance company bailout does not pass is important to you — whether because the bill makes being female a pre-existing condition, or whether you have issues with making failure to buy junk insurance a federal crime — then taking the 60th vote away from the Dems by voting for Brown throws a roadblock in its way.
3. Finally, if you really want to damage the Dems, then voting for Brown, if enough people do it, will accomplish that, now that Obama has invested his personal prestige in the race. It’s not ideal that a reasonably good Dem takes the first hit, but really, will that make so much of a difference? After caucus theft, FISA, TARP, nothing on torture, nothing on surveillance, no help on housing, the jobs disaster, the travesties that are health insurance and financial reform, and a whole new war? Damaging the Dems is the opportunity that presents itself now. We can damage a Republicans next.

Madonna Snl, The first TV encounter of Madonna and Lady Gaga came during “Saturday Night Live” this week, when the Material Girl appeared unannounced in a Deep House Dish skit alongside the contemporary hitmaker when a similar bizarre visual bent.
A few bars into a song and dance number, Madonna grabbed Lady Gaga’s blonde hair and here was one of those cliched hair-pulling catfights in skimpy outfits. “What the hell is a disco stick?” she demanded.
The dance number didn’t seem to go as planned. Lady Gaga sang while Madonna didn’t. It didn’t matter — seeing them together was the big thing.
Invited to sit on the couch, they continued their fake fighting.
“Guess what Madonna I’m totally hotter than you!” Lady Gaga said.
“Guess what I’m totally taller than you,” she replied adding: “What kind of name is Lady Gaga. It sounds like baby food…”
“The kind that’s No. 1 on the Billboard charts,” Gaga replied lunging on her.
Kenan Thompson’s character DJ Dynasty Handbag wanted them to make up. And because some dude wrote it, he asked them to kiss. Madonna’s kiss to other female pop stars has been some kind of annointment in the past, as when she laid on on Britney Spears at a past MTV video music awards. But Kenan’s character interjected himself between them to receive their kisses.
The sketch came just before the first of Gaga’s performance of “Paparazzi,” not nearly as elaborate as it was at the VMAs last month. However, later in the show, for “Disco Stick” and a performance of “Poker Face,” she wore what looked to be a giant gyroscope.
Madonna was the biggest of several guest stars on the show, though Scarlett Johansson, who also appeared unnanounced was pretty big. Elijah Wood also popped in on the show. All this on an episode hosted by one of the least known stars, Ryan Reynolds.
Darrell Hammond, apparently freelancing on the show after the longest run as a cast member made his first “Saturday Night Live” appearance as Arnold Schwarzenegger, behind so much prosthetic makeup he was hardly recognizable.
The Letterman situation was mentioned in “Weekend Update” as a “Stupid human trick.” But a whole retro “Celebrity Family Fued” skit was built around the John Phillips revelation.

Haqqani asks critics of Pakistan – US relations to be realistic
ISLAMABAD Pakistan: Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani on Monday said that the critics of Pak-US relations should also examine the realities of the situation.
In a brief telephonic conversation with a private TV channel, the Ambassador said that the United States is a sole super power of the contemporary world and it is not possible for any country to influence its polices.
Those who are criticising over the recently adopted Kerry-Luger bill have not studied the document in detail, he said.
Besides, he said it is the people of Pakistan who have to decide as what kind of relations they want to have with the USA.
He said a few individuals cannot be given a mandate to take a decision in this regard.
To maintain good relations with the contemporary super power is in the interest of the people of Pakistan he said and added that people have an elected government which can best protect the national interests.
To a question about some people had criticised him, Haqqani said, he is Ambassador of Pakistan in the US and is duty bound to safeguard the national interests of his country.
He cannot influence the decisions of US legislators and the government, he added.
