First trailer for silent comedy “The Artist” – AWARDS ALLEY
TrendPK.com: A source of mine with strong ties to the film industry who has no real interest in the annual awards race was humoring me with a discussion of potential Best Picture nominees as we looked over the Toronto International Film Festival schedule. In his expert opinion, the race boils down to Phyllida Lloyd’s “The Iron Lady” (with Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher) and Michel Hazanavicius’ silent comedy “The Artist.” Granted, he has yet to see either, but as we discussed in an earlier column, anyone can make predictions. They just don’t carry much weight.
Still, after seeing the first trailer for Hazanavicius’ film, which stars Jean Dujardin as a silent film star fearing the arrival of talking pictures, it’s easy to see how it could make it into the Best Picture race … and even leave TIFF with a frontrunner’s status.
“The Artist” charmed audiences in Cannes, where Dujardin won a Best Actor prize and the film was nominated for the Palme d’Or. Dujardin has been earning raves ever since, as are co-stars John Goodman and Berenice Bejo.
The Weinstein Company, who has a pretty good track record of pushing films through the awards season, brings “The Artist” to Toronto next month, where we’ll have a full report. In the meantime, the trailer’s up on iTunes, and posted below.

sandra bullock adopts black boy

Oscar Winner Sandra Bullock has adopted a black boy and she wants to take care of him as a single mother. Sandra revealed the adoption in the new issue of People magazine. She also announced that she has filed divorce and it’s true. Sandra is going through the best and the worst phase of her life. This year she won Oscar for her film “The Blind Side” and when she was celebrating her success she came to know that her husband Jesse James was cheating on her with a porn star. Sandra said she has filed divorce from her husband and she is sad and scared.
According to People’s website Sandra and her husband adopted the boy in January but they decided to keep it as a secret till Oscar Awards. The adoption process was started four years ago. But now Jesse is not a part of this story. Sandra says now she is the proud mother of Louis Bardo Bullock. Louis Bardo Bullock is the3½-month-old boy which she adopted and he was born in New Orleans

With the Kentucky Derby always scheduled on the first Saturday of May, the post positions were announced several days beforehand.
Looking at Lucky is the clear favorite in 2010, but also keep your eye on Sidney’s Candy, the victor at the 2010 Santa Anita Derby. Other contenders to bet on this year include Conveyance, Awesome Act, and American Lion.

Time Person of the year 2009 latest news updates :- Bernanke is TIME’s 2009 Person of the Year. Federal Reserve chair beat out Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Usain Bolt.
“The winner is Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, the most powerful, least understood government force shaping our lives,” Stengel said.
Stengel described the cover as a “throwback cover, like a Person of the Year cover from the ’40s or ’50s.”
“He was the great scholar of the Depression, and basically he saw what looked like another Depression coming and he decided he would do whatever it takes to forestall that,” Stengel said. “And basically he did.
Stengel admitted that Bernanke has made mistakes, but said that “in terms of influencing the economy this year, he’s the guy.”
* TIME’s No. 2 runner-up after Bernanke was Gen. Stanley McChrystal, commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Stengel told TODAY’s Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira that McChrystal came “very close” to usurping Bernanke’s Person of the Year cover: “He really was the prime mover behind the change in Afghanistan strategy.”

In the end, it was Bernanke’s sway over a global financial crisis that touched millions — if not billions — of lives led to TIME’s decision. “He is influencing how the economy operates,” Stengel explained.
