US Envoy reminds of US support to Pakistan through thick and thin
US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Minter has said that the USA has always supported Pakistan through thick and thin, Dunya New reported on Thursday.
Speaking at the ending ceremony of the flight operation for the relief efforts of the flood victims, the US envoy said that US considers Pakistan as her strategic partner. He also said that US has proved its friendship with Pakistan by helping the flood-affectees. American Brigadier General Michael Logata said that 600 US personnel and 26 helicopters participated in the relief operation.
Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. General Asif Yaseen also spoke on the occasion and thanked the US government for helping the flood-affected people. Responding to a question Corps Commander said that the decision of launching operation in North Waziristan would be taken by Pak Army.
Induction of P3 to enhance Pak Navy”s capability: Naval Chief
KARACHI: The induction of modified P3C Orion aircraft would greatly enhance the capability of Pakistan Navy. This was stated by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Noman Bashir.
He was talking to media after the induction ceremony of two modified P3C Orion aircraft acquired from the United States at the Pakistan Navy Base Mehran here on Tuesday.
US Brig. Gen. Mike Nagata of the Office of Defence Representative in Pakistan, and the Consul General of United States in Karachi Stephens G. Fakan also attended the ceremony.
The Naval Chief further stated that these aircraft would increase the capability of Pakistan Navy fleet to meet the challenges.
He pointed out that the P3 was a time-tested aircraft, which is still operational in the US Navy as well as navies in various countries in the world. Admiral Noman Bashir informed that in terms of capability the P3 is also described as ”flying destroyer”.
He stated that this aircraft has quite a lot of endurance and it can ably face the threats and challenges for a longer time in the area of its operation.
Admiral Noman remarked we already had P3 aircraft but the characteristics of the P3s inducted today have been modernized and refurbished and their operational capability has enhanced a lot. He said that as these aircraft have a lot of endurance so they can cover a wider area.
Army successfully completes operation in Orakzai
ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Kurram and Orakzai Agencies on Tuesday.
He was given a detailed briefing about the security situation by the military commanders of the respective areas.
COAS” visit to Orakzai Agency marks the successful conclusion of operations in the Agency. Return of IDPs is excepted to start shortly. The COAS appreciated the professional conduct of the operation, which has cleared the Agency of terrorists.
During his visit to the Agencies, the COAS interacted with the troops and greatly appreciated their professionalism and high morale.
He also met the tribal Masharan and thanked them for their consistent and wholehearted support to the security forces. He reassured them that return of normalcy and prosperity to the area will be ensured.
Earlier on arrival, the COAS was received by the Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik and Inspector General Frontier Scouts, Major General Tariq Khan.
COAS visits site of landslide at Attaabad
ISLAMABAD: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani Tuesday visited the site of landslide that blocked Hunza River near Attaabad.
He was briefed about the progress of work on spillways, being undertaken by Frontier Works Organization, says an ISPR press release.
He also interacted with the people of the affected area.
Earlier on arrival in the area, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Shahid Niaz, Engineer-in-Chief and Lieutenant General Tahir Mehmood, Corps Commander Rawalpindi.
Corps commanders of Gujranwala, Pindi changed
RAWALPINDI: Lt. General Khalid Nawaz has been made Corps Commander of Rawalpindi, sources close to the Pak Army said.
Inspector General Arms Lt. General Jamil Haider has been appointed Corps Commander of Gujranwala in place of Lt. General Nadeem Taj, who has been made Adjutant General of Pakistan Army.
Corps Commanders Meeting Underway At GHQ
Rawalpindi, Pakistan News: A Corps Commander Conference is underway under the chair of Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Parvez Kayani in Rawalpindi today.
According to sources, the ongoing military offensive in South Waziristan and professional capabilities of the army is being discussed in the meeting being held at General headquarters. Pakistan Army’s strategy, defence of the borders and sovereignty would be taken up during the meeting. The core commander floated suggestions regarding elimination of anti-state elements and steps to make Waziristan operation a success.

Pakistan News: Gen Kayani Chairing Corps Commander Conference at GHQ, Corps Commander Conference is underway at General Head Quarters under the chair of Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani.
Sources said that Corps Commander Peshawar would brief corps commanders on the Waziristan Operation. Army Chief will brief corps commanders on new Afghan Policy. Sources revealed that Army Chief would also take corps commanders into confidence on his meetings with US military leadership.

Gen Kayani Visits CMH Today
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan News: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani today visited Combined Military Hospital (CMH). He inquired about the health and well being of wounded of yesterday’s attack on Parade Lane Mosque. Six Militants killed in SWaziristan
Pakistan News: Security forces killed six militants who attacked on a check post in Laddah area of South Waziristan.
Another militant was killed in clash with security forces in Swat. Terrorists attacked a check post of security forces in the morning today however retaliation fire from the forces killed six militants. Eight militants got injured in the offensive. Security forces seized a large cache of arms. On the other hand, six suspects have been arrested in different areas of Swat in search operation.

Rawalpindi, Pakistan News: Four army officials, who were martyred in yesterday’s attack in Parade Lane Mosque of Rawalpindi Cantt, have been laid to rest in their ancestor cities on Saturday while Maj. Gen. Bilal Umer’s Namaz-e-Janaza was offered in Rawalpindi.
Namaz-e-Janaza of Maj. Gen. Bilal Umer, Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant Gen. Masood Aslam’s son Hashim Mehmood and Brig.
