Pooja Batra to be honoured in LA
Pooja Batra is being honoured by the LA County Sheriff’s Indo American Advisory Council on April 28 for her contribution to the South Asian American Community.
Pooja, who has been actively involved with the community for several years, will also be hosting an auction to raise funds for the Japan Tsunami Victims at the star studded gala.
The actress also recently walked the Red Carpet of the 9th Annual Indian Film Fest Los Angeles to show her support to Indian films. Looking stunning in silver monochrome, Pooja says she makes it a point to attend the festival every year to show her support to the Indian Film Industry and first time filmmakers.
Her company ‘Glow Bell Inc’ has also associated with an LA casting company to help the latter set shop in India.
Looks like Pooja Batra has some serious Bollywood business on mind.

“We know the cause of death,” said a spokesperson with the Clay County Sheriff’s office. “We want to preserve the integrity of this investigation and are not releasing any information that in the long run would prevent us from prosecuting and convicting the person who did this to Somer [Thompson].”
Somer Thompson, who disappeared while walking the mile home from school on October 19th 2009, and was discovered dead days later.
Angry that her sister told her to stop arguing with a playmate, Somer ran ahead of the group and was never seen again. Her disappearance triggered a countywide search involving helicopters, dogs and volunteers walking arm-to-arm through wooded areas.
Before the grim discovery, Somer’s father, Sam Thompson, of Graham, N.C., pleaded for her safe return.
Police have questioned more than 70 registered sex offenders in the area. Florida Department of Law Enforcement records show 161 offenders live in a 5-mile radius of Somer’s home.

FBI agents, immigration officials and state police, surrounded an Islamic meat plant in Kinsman, cordoning off the area and briefly detaining the plant’s handful of employees.
The FBI isn’t saying much, and the county sheriff is mum too, leaving Kinsman’s residents mystified. The bust, in a town that has no local police force, involved dozens of vehicles, a pair of snipers and a helicopter flying overhead, witnesses said — but it ended without even a single arrest.
“We’re all baffled,” Mayor Mark Harlow said. “You know, stuff like this doesn’t happen in a small community.”
The unusual show of force has residents spooked and has left the mayor searching for answers.
“The public reaction is … are they safe? We don’t know,” Harlow said. “What are they doing? We don’t know. Are they making bombs? We don’t know.”
Some of the workers were handcuffed during the raid, but they were eventually released.
Law enforcement officials declined to comment on whether the massive raid was connected to a series of high-profile arrests orchestrated by the FBI in recent weeks that focused on terror suspects.

According to the Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler, they found a corpse in the garbage, and it was a body of a child. He also said that officials were trying to identity, the body was found in the garbage.

Richard Hatch Again Arrested
Federal officials arrested Hatch, 48, and took him to a Massachusetts county jail that’s used to temporarily hold federal prisoners Tuesday afternoon.
The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office didn’t know why Hatch was there, and a federal Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman couldn’t immediately be reached early Wednesday. It wasn’t clear if Hatch has a lawyer.
Hatch was convicted in 2006 for not paying taxes on the $1 million prize he won on the CBS reality show’s first season. He was sentenced to extra prison time for lying on the witness stand.
Hatch’s arrest came three months after he was released into home confinement in Rhode Island and just hours after he spoke publicly for the first time since he got out of federal prison.
In an interview aired on NBC television’s “Today” show Tuesday, Hatch said he believes the judge in his tax evasion case discriminated against him because he’s gay and accused a prosecutor of misconduct.
“I know without question that there are personal issues involved for the prosecutor. I don’t know why. The prosecutorial misconduct has been egregious,” he said.
In court papers filed earlier this year, Hatch complained of widespread prejudice in the justice system against gay people.
A spokesman for the US Attorney’s office said Hatch’s claims are baseless, and in a May court filing prosecutors pointed out that Hatch offered no evidence to support a claim that he was prosecuted because he is gay.
Former US Attorney Robert Clark Corrente — whose office oversaw the case — told WPRO-AM that Hatch is “delusional.” The judge in the case is now retired and could not immediately be reached for comment.
Hatch is due to be released from home confinement on Oct. 7, but he has asked a judge to release him immediately for a variety of reasons, including because he was represented by ineffective lawyers.
He told the “Today” show that he has been financially devastated by his tax case.
