Sassi seeks support to end ‘Pukka Qila’s encroachment’
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Culture Sassi Palejo Monday urged the need for political will and support to regain possession of famous Hyderabad’s Pakka Qila.
Speaking at the question hour in Sindh Assembly, the provincial minister said the federal government was yet to transfer the control of historical sites to the provincial government.
She said Pakka Qila is a historical site, spreading well over 38-acre.
Palejo said the government will have to provide alternative residential facilities to the dwellers of Qila so that they could vacate the historical site.
According to the Supreme Court’s order, encroachment will have to be removed from the historical sites.
Blast kills 2, injures 14 in Quetta
QUETTA: At least two persons were killed and over dozen wounded on Monday after a powerful explosion took place at airport road in Quetta, police said.
The dead and injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital, where emergency was declared.
Hospital sources confirmed that two persons died in the blast.
According to sources, the blast damaged three vehicles also. The nature of the blast is still unknown.

BAGHDAD: A bomb in a school in the Baghdad Shiite neighbourhood of Sadr City killed five people and wounded 34 on Monday, the majority of them children returning to class after a Muslim holiday, security and health officials said.
“Five people died and 34 were injured in the attack on the school,” a police officer said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The toll was confirmed by Sadr City Hospital.
The vast majority of the casualties from the 1:10 pm (1010 GMT) blast were pupils at the Abaa Dhar School, a primary school for boys in the Iraqi capital’s northeast.
The explosion, which left a crater around four metres (13 feet) in diameter, struck just outside the main entrance of the school and severely damaged three nearby houses.
