LPGA Golfer Erica Blasberg Found Dead
25-year-old LPGA golfer Erica Blasberg was found dead in her home in Henderson, Nevada Monday. The cause of death was unknown as of this writing. TMZ.com reports that law enforcement is conducting a “death investigation” of the Orange County born, two-time All-American, 2003 NCAA Freshman of the Year and 2003 Pacific-10 Player of the Year from The University of Arizona who turned pro in 2004.

Blasberg’s agent Chase Callahan released this statement:

Clark County, Nevada police have not stated a cause of death because of an ongoing investigation. Blasberg was found dead in her home, according to a police spokesperson.

Blasberg played just a week ago on the LPGA Tour, finishing tied 44th place at the Tres Marias Championship. She did not have full status on the LPGA Tour this season. To most of the world, Erica was known as a professional golfer, but she was more than that.00″ /> She was a loving daughter to her parents and a compassionate and loyal friend. Erica had a good heart, was extremely kind and very thankful for what she had in her life.

David Boreanaz Admits He Cheated on His Wife
Bones’ leading man, David Boreanaz, admits he has cheated on his wife of eight years, Jaime Bergman. Boreanaz and Bergman married in November 2001 and have two children together, eight-year-old Jaden and eight-month-old daughter Bardot. Boreanaz, 40, first noticed his wife by her tattoos which matched his in both design and placement.

In an interview with People, Boreanaz says, “Our marriage has been tainted with my infidelities….I just want to be open and honest. LOS ANGELES: People places Taylor Swift among most intriguing,  “Fearless” singer Taylor Swift graces the cover of People’s “most intriguing of 2009,” on a list that names mom-of-eight Kate Gosselin the “mother of all reality stars” and British singer Susan Boyle as “the surprise hit,” the magazine said on Wednesday.

Oprah Winfrey, who announced she would end her influential TV talk show in 2011, was honored as “the departing diva”, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as “the power pair” and President Barack Obama and wife Michelle as “the first couple.”

The list is not ranked.

Swift, 20, whose country/pop crossover album is the biggest selling of 2009 and who won five American Music Awards and the coveted Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year, was named the “golden girl” in the People double-issue.

Swift said her success “feels like this ongoing dream,” but told People she hoped to remain grounded.

“You can stay the same person, even if everything around you changes,” she said, regarding her fame. “I would like to think everybody out there isn’t just waiting for me to trip and fall and stumble out of a club drunk. People know I’m not a party girl. I’m not hiding some dying urge to be out clubbing right now.”

In a new category marking the fall of a number of male celebrities in 2009, golfer Tiger Woods, rapper Kanye West, singer Chris Brown, reality star Jon Gosselin, and TV talk show host David Letterman, who admitted affairs with his staffers, were named “Men in the Doghouse.”

Rihanna, who was attacked in February by then boyfriend Brown, was named the “resilient star” after a series of frank interviews in November and a new album.

Michael Jackson’s three young children, suddenly thrust into the spotlight after the singer’s death in June, were named “the descendants”; actor John Travolta “the heartbroken dad” after the death in January of his 16 year-old autistic son; and singer Lady Gaga the “shock star.”

David Letterman Extortion, So, here they are: David Letterman’s remarks on how he had “creepy” sex with an indeterminate amount of female staffers and was then extorted. Considering Letterman has long used affairs as punchlines, should we run him out of town?

During his tenure at the Late Show, Letterman’s made mad bank on using public figures and their public disgraces as his “comedic” inspiration. There could be a book of his Clinton-inspired knee-slappers, like this one, “No move ever goes smoothly. Today Clinton’s brand new desk arrived. He had to send it back, apparently not enough head room.” Oh, ha! Monica Lewinsky blew Clinton while he was president. And now we learn that Letterman banged his lady underlings.

Letterman’s admission makes us — and Howard Kurtz, sort of — wonder whether Letterman, who also admitted he’ll do anything to protect his job, should be shamed as he’s shamed others.

He’s a famous, rich and, to some, charming man — the fact that he screwed staffers should raise serious ethical questions, like “Did he use his power and influence to take advantage of the women?” Even if he didn’t do so intentionally, it’s certainly possible that’s the case and he’s just as guilty as those he’s lampooned. But perhaps we should give him some wiggle room here.

Although we’re not in awe of how he handled this, we’re surprisingly impressed by the amount of self-skewering he mustered while discussing the potential for embarrassment. That impression, however, was rapidly shattered when he revealed his “true” intentions: protect these women — oh, and his family, self and, yes, job.

The entire thing came off as more of a relatively humorous, if not laudatory, apology than a phony, manufactured plea for forgiveness, but isn’t the former better than the latter, especially since he’s been calling the kettle black this whole time? The audience certainly thinks so: they clapped and laughed and lapped up the entire bit.

By the time Barack Obama came on stage to the taping of the “Late Show” on Monday, host David Letterman had offered up 10 reasons why in the world the president had agreed to do it.
Among Letterman’s theories: Obama said yes without thinking about it, or as Letterman put it, “Like Bush did with Iraq.”
But Obama had other ideas. It turns out he was listening when Letterman had bantered with a woman in the audience who brought — yes — a potato in the shape of a heart to the show.

Kanye West On Jay Leno, Kanye West used Jay Leno’s prime-time debut Monday to offer another apology for ruining Taylor Swift’s night at the MTV Video Music Awards and to say he’s going to take some time off for reflection.

West said he knew he was wrong the moment he handed the microphone back to Swift, when he was bathed in boos. He had interrupted Swift on Sunday night as she accepted a best female video award for “You Belong With Me,” arguing that Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” was more deserving.

“It was rude, period,” West said. He posted a second apology to Swift on his blog on Monday, and told Leno he wanted to apologize to the country music star in person.

West took a long pause when Leno asked what his mother would have said about the incident. West was very close to his mother, Donda, who died in November 2007. He said yes when Leno asked whether his mother would have given him a lecture.

“So many celebrities, they never take the time off,” he said. “I’ve never taken the time off to really — you know, just music after music and tour after tour. I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt. My dream of what awards shows are supposed to be, ’cause, and I don’t try to justify it because I was just in the wrong. That’s period. But I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve.”

He had already been set to perform on Leno’s first prime-time show on NBC, but asked for time to talk with the controversy swirling. It may have been a stroke of luck for Leno, whose daily prime-time comedy show already was the most buzzed-about fall debut. With West, it’s likely to draw even more curious viewers.

It was reminiscent of when Hugh Grant appeared on the “Tonight” show with Leno in 1995 to make amends after being arrested with a prostitute — only this time there weren’t many laughs. The Grant appearance was a springboard for Leno to eclipse David Letterman in the ratings.

Leno was quick to reference the West incident with one of his first monologue jokes Monday, saying President Barack Obama had invited West and the 19-year-old Swift for a “root beer summit.”

Crash Course Tv Show Tonight

Crash Course, An especially pleasurable documentary that tells the story of African-Americans jazz musicians finding a welcome home in prewar France, “Harlem in Montemarte: A Paris Jazz Story” makes its premiere on “Great Performances” (WGBY, Channel 57, 8 p.m.; CPTV, 9 p.m.).

Telling the tale of well known figures such as Josephine Baker and Django Reinhardt as well as the less well known Sidney Bechet, Eugene Bullard and Bricktop. It benefits from a liberal use of the hot jazz music that ensued. Locally, it’s preceded by a replay of “American Masters” (CPTV, 8 p.m), “The World of Nat King Cole.”

Likely the dumbest new show to start this week is “Crash Course” (ABC, 9 p.m.), a collision course driving competition with the pedigree of the accompanying “Wipeout” (ABC, 8 p.m.).

In “Crash Course,” five teams of two compete each week in a number of “automotive challenges” that eliminates teams one by one. The winner has a chance to win $50,000. There’s an especially cheap look to the production. Banter between co-hosts Dan Cortese and Orlando Jones is supposed to make this entertaining; it doesn’t.

The initial season of the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced undercover cop drama “Dark Blue” (TNT, 10 p.m.) has its season finale. “Leverage” (TNT, 9 p.m.) was to have ended its summer season tonight as well, but has leveraged its way to an additional couple of weeks.

A bridal store manager in Long Island gets to meet stars from two of her favorite shows, “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and she think it’s coincidental on “Make My Day” (TV Land, 10:30 p.m.).

Samuel Mudd’s home in Maryland is scoured for spooks in tonight’s “Ghost Hunters” (Syfy, 9 p.m.).

Bald is beautiful and Yul Brynner is the star all day on Turner Classic Movies, with the prime time offerings of “The King and I” (8 p.m.), “The Magnificent Seven” (10:30 p.m.), “Westworld” (12:45 a.m.) and “Futureworld” (2:15 a.m.).
