Obama claims he is devoted to Pakistan
US President Barack Obama has said that he is devoted to Pakistan and there would not be any compromise on democracy.
Pakistani delegation led by Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani met US President Obama at the White House. This meeting continued for an hour and US President underlined the importance of the dialogue to boost the bilateral ties based on mutual respect and common interests.
The US President and the Pakistani delegation agreed on the need for regional stability, and specifically on the importance of cooperating toward a peaceful and stable outcome in Afghanistan. Talking exclusively to Dunya News, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that this meeting is a breakthrough and fruitful results of this visit will appear very soon.

WASHINGTON: The third round of strategic talks between Pakistan and the United States is set to begin in Washington today (Wednesday).
A high-level Pakistani delegation led by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi is in Washington to attend the talks. The US team will be headed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The three-day talks will mull over various proposals aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in 13 different sectors, including agriculture, energy, education and health.
In addition, the two sides will also review the progress made during the last session of talks between Pakistan and the US.
Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani will also hold talks with top American military and civil officials. SAMAA
MQM submits Land Reforms Bill

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday submitted a draft of a new Land Reforms Bill to the National Assembly Secretariat here on Wednesday.
The bill was presented by MQM’s parliamentary delegation led by senior party leader Farooq Sattar. 25 MNAs and six senators, all from MQM, were present on this occasion.
Under the bill, nobody would be allowed to own more than 36 acres of agricultural and 54 acres of rain-fed land.
Addressing a news conference after submitting the bill, Dr. Farooq Sattar said that the bill will improve the financial conditions of people. It would end feudalism and bridge the gap between rich and poor.
The MQM leader added that the Land Reforms Bill would also bring about an agricultural revolution in the country. SAMAA
US envoy calls on MQM leaders
US Ambassador N.W. Patterson visited Nine Zero in Karachi to condole the demise of Dr. Imran Farooq.
The US delegation led by Patterson visited Nine Zero where it met the Deputy Convener of MQM Coordination Committee Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal and Nasreen Jalil. She condoled with the party members and family members of late Imarn Farooq. MQM also informed the delegation about its concerns over Altaf Hussains security. Sattar informed the US representatives about nations stance and reaction over Dr. Aafias verdict. Patterson assured of her serious efforts in regard with Dr. Aafias case.
Pakistan gets IMF relief, tightens security

LAHORE: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will give Pakistan $450 million in emergency flood aid, providing some relief for a government overwhelmed by the disaster and facing renewed militant violence.
IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said in Washington on Thursday that the funds would be dispersed in “coming weeks.”
Strauss-Kahn said discussions with a delegation led by Pakistan’s Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on how to “reorganize” an $11 billion IMF loan program would continue.
He said Islamabad remained committed to terms including tax and energy sector reforms.

Shah calls meeting of Sindh coalition partners
KARACHI: A delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) today met Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to convey its concerns about the incidents of target killings in Karachi.
According to sources, Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan was also present in the meeting.
The MQM team comprised of Wasim Aftab, Hamad Siddiqi, Nishat Zia and Mazahar Imam.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Supreme Court’s judge Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan has taken oath as acting Chief Election Commissioner.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary administered him the oath in a ceremony held at the SC. Judges of the SC, acting attorney general, secretary election commission and other law officials attended the oath taking ceremony.
Justice Sardar Raza Khan will serve as acting chief election commissioner till November 26 in absence of Justice (R) Hamid Ali Mirza, the sitting chief election commissioner.
