How to get rid of back pain

A sedentary lifestyle, bad posture, stress and overdependence on technology could leave you with a constant backache. But experts say sometimes the problem can be easily sorted out with the right diagnosis and a little care.

Experts point out that the problem of lower back pain is fairly common. About 80 per cent experience pain at some point in life.

“The major culprits of back pain, especially in young adults, is stressful and long working hours stretching up to 12 hours and more, lack of proper physical activity, bad habits such as reading while lying down, slouch ing in front of the TV, etc, coupled with weight issues,” BK Dhaon, head of the department of orthopaedics at Sharda Hospital, said.

What comes as a surprise is that fitness-conscious youngsters, who are regulars at gyms, also suffer from it. In such cases, bad sitting posture is often to be blamed, says Amit Kumar Mishra, an orthopaedic surgeon.

“Abnormal sitting posture is the main culprit in youngsters who are otherwise fit and fine. These people have everything, including a healthy diet and nutrition, but the back is overstressed due to a non-compliant posture for long durations,” he added.

The government is going to shut the National Education Commission (NEC) and National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), leaving 30,000 people jobless.

No funds have been allocated in the annual budget for 2011/2012 for the National Education Commission and National Commission for Human Development as both the departments are supposed to be devolved to the provinces under the 18th Amendment.

The closing of both departments will leave 30,000 people jobless, besides jeopardising the future of one million children, who are getting education in the institution controlled by the departments.

Pakistan People’s Party Member National Assembly and head of both departments Nafeesa Shah told Dunay News that due to the non-issuance of funds, the departments would become dysfunctional.

The workers of the National Education Commission and National Commission for Human Development said that they would strongly protest, if they were not accommodated in some other department.

US Economy Improving Gradually

US unemployment fell dramatically to 9.4 percent in December; a boon for President Barack Obama but one tempered by evidence the economy is still not creating enough jobs.

ee482123g Gradually US Economy Improving GraduallyLabour Department data showed the unemployment rate fell last month to its lowest level since May 2009, although many fewer jobs were created than expected. Obama cautiously welcomed the news stating that we know these numbers can bounce around from month to month, but the trend is clear. The economy added 1.3 million jobs last year. And each quarter was stronger than the previous quarter, which means that the pace of hiring is beginning to pick up. Obama lauded the 113,00 jobs created by the private sector in December, gains that were partially eroded by local government losses but cautioned the unemployment rate was still unacceptably high. The sharp drop in unemployment from November’s 9.8 percent rate blew most economists’ expectations out of the water. But just 103,000 nonfarm jobs were created, many fewer than the 150,000 expected, reaffirming a trend of steady but unspectacular job growth. Since December 2009, payrolls have grown by an average of 94,000 a month.

The Air Force took the action because classified information was posted on those websites, he said.

The decision was taken by the 24th Air Force, which is responsible for cyber warfare and security.

No other branch of the military had taken a similar action, and Lapan said the measure was “neither DoD-directed nor DoD-wide,” referring to the Department of Defense.

Some cyber analysts called it a clumsy overreaction and the New York Times said
