Rajasthan Royals Gets Stay on Expulsion By Arbitrator
BCCI suspended Rajasthan Royals from IPL and also restricted it from inclusion in IPL’s2011 edition. The case between Rajasthan Royals and the BCCI was in arbitration and it is decided by arbitrators to give stay on suspension to RR team. The auction of teams will start from January 8th and now RR will be able to participate in auction.
Justice BN Srikrishna, the designated arbitrator said that will be given a chance to participate in the auction of IPL and they had found nothing to make them away from auction. BCCI is willing to contest the case to high court now.
The results of arbitration were accepted by RR team and they appreciated the work done by the arbitrator. The case was argued for three and half days before the arbitrator and the decision of arbitrator comes in favor of RR.
The case hearing was started on 24th November and the decision came on 30th November. The case of King XI Punjab is also expected to be decided in four working days. Both IPL teams were suspended by BCCI after they found some irregularities in share holding. Both teams appeals against the decision of BCCI and now the case is decided by arbitrator but BCCI decided to appeal in high court against the decision.
US extends sanctions list aimed at Iran”s nukes

WASHINGTON: U.S. sanctions on Iran expanded Wednesday to hit more than three dozen additional companies and individuals with penalties meant to curb Iran”s nuclear and missile programs.
In announcing the move, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said the new U.S. penalties were aimed at those helping Iran develop its nuclear and missile programs and evade international sanctions.
The new penalties are the first step taken by Washington to build on an Iran sanctions resolution passed by the U.N. Security Council last week. In addition to imposing U.N. penalties, the resolution called for individual countries and blocs of nations to examine and expand their own sanctions regimes on Iranian individuals and organizations.
“In the coming weeks we will continue to increase the financial pressure on Iran,” Geithner said. “We will continue to target Iran”s support for terrorist organizations.”
He told a White House news conference that the administration expects other countries to announce new penalties of their own against Iran soon.
“This is not something the United States can do alone,” he said. The European Union is expected to announce additional steps Thursday.
Rep. Howard L. Berman, D-Calif., chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, praised the U.S. action, saying it “will significantly extend the reach of comprehensive Iran sanctions legislation that Congress will soon pass, reinforcing and augmenting the international sanctions regime so that we can achieve our goal of persuading Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment program.”
The sanctions bar financial transactions between Americans and the designated entities and also freeze any assets they may have in U.S. jurisdictions.
