In an interview with the British broadcaster on Wednesday, he said the US and Pakistan are working jointly to foil the designs of terrorists.

Western security officials have confirmed that a campaign of American missile strikes by unmanned drones in Pakistan is an attempt to disrupt a plot to attack Europe.

On Monday German nationals were killed in a predator raid.

Fake degrees not be used to undermine democracy, Iftikhar warns

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain Thursday warned the ‘elements’ of consequences if they attempted to ‘use fake degrees issue in a bid to undermine the democratic set up’.

Talking to Geo News, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said Awami National Party (ANP) is against the practice of obtaining fake degrees to get elected in assemblies, assuring that orders of the Supreme Court in this regard will be honored.

He said no action was taken against the fake degree holders during Musharraf regime and now that the restriction of degrees has been lifted the issue is being used in a bid to derail democracy. However, he added, that the ‘elements behind this attempt’ will not get anywhere with their designs and the incumbent government will complete its term.

TAND BAGO: Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza Monday said that nationalists are being used to mislead people of Sindh.

Addressing a public meeting here in Tando Bago, the Home Minister said funds are given to nationalists by various agencies to mislead people in a bid to achieve their designs.

He said no deal will be made at the expense of Sindh’s rights.

Dr. Mirza said he is forgiving his opponents, assuring he will not take any kind of revenge from them.

Pak Air Force shows power in Thal

KARACHI: Pakistan Air Force is displaying its aerial capability today in Jhang area of Thal in connection with countrywide high mark exercises, Geo News reported Tuesday.

Various practices including air-to-land targeting with missiles and bombs are being conducted during the exercises.

The high-mark exercises will include the display of drone planes being used in ground operation against the extremists in the ongoing anti-terror war in collaboration with the PAF.

The PAF exercises commenced in mid-March to last for another two months.

The drills happening every fifth year, are a means to assay the professional capability, expertise and war preparations of the PAF.

ANP observes 3-day mourning across province

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) is observing mourning today across the province over the killings of the Party’s worker in Timergarah suicide blast, Geo News reported Tuesday.

The entire province wears an air of grief and mourning in the wake of bomb blasts in Peshawar and Timergarah.

The ANP announced three-day mourning on the killings of innocent people in the terror incidents yesterday.

Programs in connection with condolence are being held at all district headquarters with the ANP flag lowered to half mast.

The ANP’s NWFP President Afrasiab Khatak urged the workers to stay united against the terrorists and not to flinch back from sacrifices in foiling the designs of extremists.
