Peshawar: Two children among 3 killed in roadside explosion

At least three people including two children got killed while several others injured in a landmine explosion that hit a school bus at Charkhana Road, Bahana Mari at Peshawar, trendpk.com reported on Monday.

According to Bomb Disposal Squad, 5 to 6 kilograms explosives were used in the attack.

The school bus driver was also among the dead. Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area while the rescue teams rushed the site.

The injured are being shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. A suspicious person has been nabbed from the blast site.

Senior Minister of KP Bashir Bilour confirmed the death toll. Bilour, while talking to mediamen, said that the evil designs of the terrorists could not demoralize the nation. God Willing the Yazidis (terrorists) would face the consequences of their evil acts, the minister asserted.

Bomb squad releases Karachi CID blast report

A mixture TNT and RDX explosives were used in the Karachi CID attack, revealed the final report by Bomb Disposal Squad issued on Monday.
The report said that a mini truck laden with 300kg explosives was rammed into the building. Hand grenades and gun rounds were also found from the site. The experts stated that a mixture of RDX and TNT ate up the oxygen from the site, which averted the fire. Such a huge quantitiy of RDX has never been used earlier in Karachi.

Explosive-filled briefcase found, defused in Multan

MULTAN: An explosive-filled briefcase was recovered from a passenger train at Multan Railway Station late Saturday night.

According to police, they found a briefcase containing over 10 kilograms of explosives from Shah Rukne Alam Express after it arrived in Multan from Karachi.

Police called a Bomb Disposal Squad, who successfully defused the bomb.

MQM all set to take out rally for Dr. Aafia’s release amid stern security

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is all set to take out a grand rally for the release of Dr. Afia amid very stern security arrangements by Sindh Police on Tuesday.

Police have finalized security arrangements for the rally, which can start any moment in the second half in Karachi.

According to police sources, more than 2,500 policemen and dozens of other high officials with a large fleet of police mobiles have been placed at different places of the rally’s route.

Among the officials who have been assigned rally security duty are 12 SHO’s of Saddar Town and eight DSPs. More than 36 police mobiles will move along with the rally.

As per the security plan, the Bomb Disposal Squad sealed the whole area at 1:00pm after a thorough search.

FC Commandant Sifwat Ghayur killed in Peshawar blast

PESHAWAR: Commandant FC Sifwat Ghayur along with at least four guards has been killed in a powerful suicide blast in Peshawar area of Saddar, Geo News quoted SP Cantt Wednesday.

The SP Cantonment said the suicide bomber targeted the FC vehicle, adding the injured have been shifted to LRH.

The blast occurred at Deens Chowk, a usually crowded commercial spot. The blast damaged at least three vehicles including one FC’s vehicle carrying Sifwat Ghayur, FC’s Commandant.

The FC Headquarters is situated near the blast site.

The Bomb Disposal Squad, police and other law enforcement agencies approached the area before long and put a security cordon around the blast site.

The firefighters are busy with efforts putting out the fire that encompassed the vehicles after the blast.

One police killed; six hurt in Lahore ambush

LAHORE: At least one policeman was killed while six others suffered injuries on late Saturday when unknown armed men hurled hand grenades and opened fire on two police stations – Latan Road and Gulshan Ravi here in provincial capital Lahore, Geo news reported.

Wounded policemen, some critically injured, have been shifted to Ganga Ram Hospital, sources said.

Two hand grenades were thrown at Gulshan Ravi police station after Friday midnight, which followed firing, resulting in infliction of injuries for two policemen who fell victim to indiscriminate shooting, police sources said.

Subsequently, one of them succumbed to his injuries while other was rushed to hospital for treatments of wounds.

One of two hand grenades exploded while bomb disposal squad defused the remaining one.

Later in another incident, two cracker’s explosions occurred outside Latan Road police station, which in turn, left five police officials injured including an SHO police, police and eyewitnesses said.

The blasts also ripped through windowpanes of closely located shops, vehicles parked nearby and a CNG station.

DIG Operations Rao Sardar Ali, hurried to blasts’ sites upon being informed about incidents, told media that police was in search of assailants, confirming that police personnel were attacked with hand grenades and gun fires.

Grenade attack at PPP leader’s house in Karachi

KARACHI: Unknown persons hurled hand grenade at a house of PPP leader in Maripur area of Karachi on Friday.

According to reports, unidentified persons hurled hand grenade outside house and office of PPP local leader in Maripur and flee from the scene. No causality was reported in the incident. Police and Bomb Disposal Squad have reached the scene.

Another PML-N MNA ineligible on fake degree

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) received another setback today when Lahore High Court (LHC) declared ineligible its MNA Javed Hasnain for having a fake degree, Geo News reported Thursday.

Muhammed Qamar filed a plea against the eligibility of Syed Javed Hasnain, who was elected from NA-68, for having a fake degree.

Election Tribunal of the LHC declared the member of National Assembly member belonging to PML-N as ineligible to continue with his stint as MNA.

Two hurt in Baldia Town blast

KARACHI: At least two people were injured when an explosion ripped through Karachi area of Baldia Town, Geo News reported Thursday.

The blast triggered fire in the vehicles parked nearby and also at least three motorbikes were destroyed.

The initial reports said the blast occurred in an ATM of a local bank. Soon after the blast, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and police team have been called on the spot.

Peshawar blast kills one, injures 11

PESHAWAR: A powerful car bomb explosion killed a child and injured at least 11 others outside a school on Khyber Road area of Peshawar, Geo News reported Monday.

The injured have been rushed to Khyber Teaching Hospital, of them, one boy succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The injured mainly include students of the school.

The low-intensity blast caused harm to nearby shops. According to Geo News correspondent, the blast occurred in an empty tuck shop situated at Police Public School situated on Khyber Road, the main artery of the city. The shop is property of school.

The blast was so powerful that it was heard far and wide.

The Geo News correspondent told at least two vehicles were destroyed in the blast parked outside the School, where a large number of people were present to pick up their children.

The entire area is hit by panic. The busy Khyber Road, where Peshawar University and other educational institutions are situated, has been closed for traffic.

The heavy police contingent arrived on the spot along with Bomb Disposal Squad.

The MS of Khyber Teaching Hospital Khizr Hayat told that at least seven injured children including an adult were brought to hospital, adding the body of a minor is also present at the hospital.

All other injured are stable, he told.

According to Bomb Disposal Squad, at least two-kilogram explosives were used in the blast.
