‘Save Energy’ steps grossly violated in Kotri

KOTRI: The entire Kotri city was lit with bulbs and decorative lights in brazen defiance of government orders relating ‘save energy’, Geo News reported Saturday.

Kotri was embellished with electric lights to observe the 25 years of political and social service by the former District Nazim Jamshoro in contrast with the government notifications for electricity saving.

On one hand, the sentences are being awarded for the electricity thefts; while, on the other hand, the orders from the federal and provincial governments are being dumped at the dustbin under official cover.

Sindh’s city Kotri was bedecked like a bride on the completion of 25 years of services of Former District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar with decorated gates ablaze with lights and the roads were lighted with electric bulbs.

Hyderabad’s electric authority could not be contacted despite several attempts by Geo News.

Alamzeb of PPP(Sherpao) killed in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: At least five people including Alamzeb Omarzai, a former MPA of the Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw assembly were killed in an attack this morning, Geo News reported Thursday.

Alamzeb belonged to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of Sherpao group.

It should be mentioned that he worked as district nazim as well.

According to details, some unidentified miscreants opened fire at his vehicle near Charsadda Chawk in the limits of the Thana City, killing Alamzeb on the spot; while, four other people succumbed to injuries at hospital.

It is pertinent to note here that he was twice attacked earlier as well; however, this time, the saboteurs succeeded in killing him.

b4905c4b9ederway Meeting to Discuss Security Issues UnderwayISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Meeting to Discuss Security Issues Underway, A high-level meeting to discuss the recent spate of terrorist attacks in the country following the Waziristan operation is currently underway at the Prime Minister House.

Chief of Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider, key cabinet ministers, chief ministers of Sindh, Baluchistan and NWFP Inspector General of Police of the four provinces, military commanders, intelligence officers and security forces were attending the meeting chaired by PM Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

However, Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Shairf did not attend the meeting and the provincial government is represented by senior provincial minister Raja Riaz, the channel added.

The meeting was briefed on security measures and the ongoing military operation against militants in South Waziristan and is likely to formulate a strategy to counter terrorist activities in the country.

Action against Govt. officers & officials respnosible of Gojra incident

Lahore, Pakistan:- Punjab government has decided to initiate disciplinary action against District Nazim Toba Tek Singh and a number of senior officers and officials who have been held responsible for negligence and dereliction of duty in the light of inquiry report of Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman regarding the incidents of violence in Gojra on Aug. 1, 2009.

Those against whom action is being taken include District Nazim Toba Tek Singh, Abdus Sattar, DIG Faisalabad, Ahmed Raza Tahir, former DCO Toba Tek Singh Imran Sikandar, SSP Inkasar Khan, DSP Raja Ghulam Abbas, SI Liaqat, SI Mushtaq Ahmad and ASI Ibrar. It may be mentioned that immediately after Gojra tragedy, Chief Minister Punjab Muhammd Shahbaz Sharif had announced that government officials found guilty of negligence and dereliction of duty will not be spared, irrespective of their rank.

In accordance with the decision of Punjab government the case of District Nazim Abdus Sattar is being sent to Local government for immediate suspension and action under the relevant laws. RPO/DIG Faisalabad Ahmad Raza Tahir and SSP Inkasar Khan are being posted as OSD and their services are being placed at the disposal of federal government with the recommendations that they may be suspended immediately and disciplinary action be initiated against them. SP Incharge Special Branch Faisalabad Region Zia Ullah Niazi has been suspended with immediate effect and disciplinary action is being initiated against him while Imran Sikandar Baloch who was DCO Toba Tek Singh at that time is being repatriated to the federal government with the recommendation that disciplinary action be initiated against him. Similarly, DSP Raja Ghulam Abbas, ASI Ibrar, SI Liaqat and SI Mushtaq Ahmad have been suspended and disciplinary action is being initiated against them.

Two Infants Dies Due To Lack Of Machines In Faisalabad Hospital

5b7bd2acdfspital Two Infants Dies Due To Lack Of Machines In Faisalabad HospitalFAISALABAD: The lack of ventilator machines for children caused two children to lose their lives at city’s largest Allied Hospital, which triggered the bereaved families to protest.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident.

According to sources, the infants needing oxygen at Children Ward of the hospital are being given oxygen in conventional ways owing to the absence of ventilator machines. The lack of oxygen caused two children to pass away.

It should be mentioned that the worse situation at hospital is killing three to four children everyday. The families of the children protested to the administration; however, the hospital management paid no heed to it.

After the sad news story was revealed by Geo News, District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef reached at the hospital and inspected Children Ward, where the doctors apprised him of daily three to four infant deaths. The district Nazim appealed to Punjab Government to provide immediately the ventilator machines.

Meantime, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered inquiry into the deaths of infants at the hospital.

PPP-MQM talks still no progress

c390dbd55fogress PPP MQM talks still no progressLahore, Pakistan: PPP (Pakistan Peoples Party) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Saturday again agreed to carry on dialogues and resolve the issues with coordination as the a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and MQM delegation failed to break a deadlock over the abolishment of Local Government system.

The MQM delegation, led by Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad Khan, called on President Zardari in Bilawal House here Saturday. It also included Babar Khan Ghauri Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Mustafa Kamal City District Nazim and Provincial Ministers including Adil Siddiqui, Dr Saghir Ahmad and Haroon Ahmad.

Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Minister of State for Information Samsam Ali Bokhari, Secretary General Salman Faruqi and Sindh Minister Plenipotentiary Jameel Soomro also attended the meeting.

In the meeting the MQM delegation raised the unsettled issues including abolishment of Local Government System by the federal government and appointment of administrators in lieu of Nazims.

The MQM demanded lifting of ban on recruitment in government departments and the release of funds to the city district governments of MQM in Hyderabad and Karachi, but no progress had been made over the issues.

Reportedly, the president assured the delegation that all the ruling allies would be taken into confidence before taking any major decision in regards to the scrapping local body system and the announcement of LG polls.

The controversy between PPP and MQM erupted due to a notification issued by Sindh government to the effect that only the Sindh chief minister was empowered to sell official state land.

Earlier, Dr. Ishrat-Ul Ibad and Mustafa Kamal held one-on-one meeting with the president.
