Cricket: South African Van Jaarsveld tests positive

JOHANNESBURG: South African batsman Vaughn van Jaarsveld has tested positive for banned stimulant sibutramine, the South African Cricketers’ Association (SACA) said on Wednesday.

The hard-hitting left-hander, 25, has played two one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals for South Africa.

“It does not appear to be his fault because it was present in dieting tablets he was prescribed by his doctor called Ciplatrim. Because it is a specified substance, it means it can be taken inadvertently because it is commonly found in medicines, for instance,” SACA chief executive Tony Irish told Reuters.

“We don’t believe it is his fault, but we have to go through the process and we have waived his right to have the B-sample tested. In the circumstances, we hope the SA Institute for Drug-Free Sport will be pretty lenient.”

The hilarious promo of Khichdi- The Movie is creating waves. Apparently, a group of doctors had approached the actor-producer JD Majethia to congratulate him for his efforts to make a light hearted family movie as humour always aids good heath. Now JD Majethia has organized for a special screening for the doctor’s association on September 26, Sunday in Mumbai.

Apparently, the doctors after watching the promos were of the opinion that the movie will help in reducing stress and in turn can promote good health. It can help in reliving stress through laughter. The comedy in the film is absolutely clean without double meaning or any vulgarity, making it ideal for family viewing. The association of doctors has now decided to promote Khichdi- The Movie to everyone as it will have many positive effects on health of the general public.

JD Majethia says, “Thanks to the doctors who willingly wish to promote our movie which can be enjoyed with the whole family together. We have arranged for a special screening for the doctor’s association this weekend.”

Sonam Kapoor down with Typhoid

While Mumbai whether is giving hard time to everyone, our very own Aisha has fallen sick as well. Sonam Kapoor has been under house arrest thanks to Typhoid. She took to it right after she came back from her Toronto shoot. She had high fever and after many tests the ailment was diagnosed as Typhoid. The actress has been advised complete bed rest for another two weeks.

So while she recuperates, Sonam is also catching up on her reading that took a backseat with her crazy shooting schedule and she is also watching a lot of movies and documentaries. Though she had to cancel her shoot for Anees Bazmee’s Thank You and also a few other magazines shoot.

But when the doctor orders rest, rest it is. So, Sonam is getting a lot of pampering from her dad Anil Kapoor, sister Rhea and few other close friends.

Katrina Kaif Leaves For Family Vacation

Mumbai: Katrina Kaif has decided to join her family in London for the annual Christmas-New Year vacation, in spite of being in pain after her minor surgery last week. The healing process after the surgery is not even half-complete. But the actress, who was recovering quietly at her Mumbai home, flew out of the city early Wednesday after getting a reluctant go-ahead from her doctors at Breach Candy hospital. Wincing in pain, she said a few hours before departure: “The pain will remain for a while. But the process of healing is on. I got my doctor`s consent in Mumbai and I`ve another doctor in London who`s fully aware of my condition. The doctors said the pain will be the same in Mumbai or London. And as long as I`m very careful about not exerting myself I`ll be fine. So I`m off.”

Katrina was depressed earlier in the week, thinking she wouldn`t be able to join her siblings in London because of her medical condition. But later she decided to go for the vacation.

Said Katrina: “I can`t exert myself, can`t dance around or be boisterous. But that`s okay, because our family is in any case not the dancing type. I just want to be with my sister`s little boy, take him to the toy stores in London and buy him everything he wants.”

Katrina returns to Mumbai in the first week of January, hopefully fully healed. “Luckily I`ve a doctor in London who knows how to look after me. So basically I`m just moving into a happier state of mind by being close to the people I love. That would help me heal quicker…Wish me luck.”

4 India Trucks Carrying Arms Caught: Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Rehman Malik revealed security forces have caught as many as four Indian trucks, laden with arms and ammunitions, from here Islamabad on Wednesday.
He said forces have also recovered from Bara area heavy amount of Indian made weaponry.

This Rehman Malik stated talking to newsmen outside parliament house. Interior Minister said we level allegations on basis of concrete evidences and the same have been entrusted to Indian foreign ministry.

He said foreign ministry is taking the issue of rising Indian intrusion with India.

To a question, he said many names, among those enlisted on the list of missing people in Balochistan province, are fabricated, baseless and concocted and the government will prove that.

NFC Award Session Underway in Lahore

LAHORE, Pakistan News: Two-day session of National Finance Commission (NFC) award is underway under the chair of Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen in Lahore.
Tareen says that formula of award’s distribution has almost been finalized. Talking to media before the session Tareen said that rehabilitation would be given priority in the awards. He told that government would try to solve all the problems. Finance Minister maintained that poverty and fair distribution of resources would also be given priority along with rehabilitation. On the other hand, Haji Adeel, NWFP representative in the meeting told media that he would ask for resources from Punjab and Balochistan in the session. “Our province is in state of war. Earlier 3 million Pakhtons left their homes,” he added.
He said that all the people would have to struggle jointly against terrorism for which not one or two rather billions of dollars were required. Hajd Adeel said that NWFP was suffering problems and needed aid badly. He told that federation assured NWFP of the aid. “Earlier 2.5 billion dollars aid was announced for Malakand but now Peshawar is also badly affected,” he added. Punjab Finance Minister Tanveer Ashraf Kaira said that Punjab would get more revenue than before.
This is the fourth and the final NFC awards session while three NFC awards session have been taken place in other three provincial capitals.

What is NFC Award?
NFC award is the distribution of financial resources among the provinces by the federal government on annual basis. Certain types of taxes collected in each province are pooled, then redistributed according to the NFC formula. What taxes to include in the distribution pool and the distribution formula is a subject of debate. Pakistan has had five NFC awards formulas. The Fifth NFC Award, adopted in 1997, was supposed to be valid for five years but failure to reach agreement on a sixth has meant that the fifth is still in operation.
Taxes included in the pool are (1) income taxes, (2) general sales tax, (3) wealth taxes, (4) capital gains taxes, and (5) custom duties. The inclusion of custom duties started with the 1997 award. In the 1991 award custom duties had gone exclusively to the federal government. Collections for the Worker Welfare Fund remain in the province where they are collected. Resource royalty is collected by the federal government and distributed to the provinces based on independent agreements.

Doctors Hospital killed my 3 Year Old Daughter

Lahore, Pakistan News :- On November 29, 2009 at 3 am in the morning my 3 year old daughter, Imanae, spilt hot water on her wrist. My wife and I immediately took her to Doctors Hospital and Medical Center in Johar Town, Lahore. Although it was a very small burn, we chose to go to the hospital as our baby was in a lot of pain and we wanted her hurt to go away as quickly as possible.

At the hospital we were met by the emergency ward staff, who applied an ointment on her hand and gave her an injection to soothe the pain. When Imanae continued to cry because of the pain, the nurse called the doctor on duty. I noticed when he walked into the room that he had obviously been asleep and had just been woken up.

The doctor instructed the nurse to give Imanae another injection. Imanae however continued to cry. Fifteen minutes later, the sleepy doctor instructed the nurse to inject Imanae with the 3rd injection. All in all, 5mg of this anesthetic/pain killer was given. This was the moment when my little baby went silent and started losing consciousness. Just before she totally passed out, she started calling out my name and saying that everything was getting blurred and she couldn’t see clearly. Little did I know that these were the last words my daughter would ever say.

I asked the doctor what was happening to my daughter, he assured me that she was FINE and was just SLEEPING, and left the room. I however wasn’t satisfied and checked Imanae myself to see if I could feel her breath or hear her heartbeat.

When I couldn’t feel either of the two, I immediately informed the nurse. She called the doctor again who used a Heart Beat Monitor to examine Imanae. There was no reading on the monitor. I asked the doctor what that signified and he told me that since the monitor was intended for adult use, it could not detect my baby’s hear beat. I WISH I HAD ASKED HIM THEN WHY HE WAS USING IT ON MY HELPLESS AND UNCONSCIOUS CHILD AND WASTING PRECIOUS TIME!!!

At this point, some other doctors present on duty at the hospital joined him as well. They connected Imanae to an ECG machine, but that too also only reported a straight line. My wife asked why the line was straight but the doctors did not reply. They kept on stating that she was fine and was just having some breathing problems. All the doctors present on the scene, started conferring between themselves as they continued to examine her. They continued to ignore our repeated pleas on what was happening to our daughter.

They then started giving her CPR and it was at this point I realised that my baby’s life was in danger. The doctors however kept reassuring us that she was fine. They continued conferring between themselves and I was certain that something had gone horribly wrong. Another 20 or so minutes passed in this torture and confusion. They continued to reassure us that she was ok!! IF SHE WAS OK, WHY WAS THERE NO PULSE ON THE ECG…WHY WAS THERE NO HEARTBEAT…WHY WERE THEY GIVING HER CPR, IF SHE WAS OK…..WHY WHY!!!

Finally, one of the doctor told me that she was having difficulty breathing and because Doctors Hospital did NOT HAVE a baby Ventilator we should take her to some other hospital before her condition worsened. They suggested we take her either  to Ittefaq hospital or to Fatima Memorial, or that we take her to Ward 23 of the Children’s Hospital.

I asked them for an ambulance because she was connected to all kinds of machines, but they told me that the ambulance was not available. However, if we still wanted one…we would have to WAIT for half an hour!!! My baby was not breathing and they wanted me to wait for half an hour!!

I decided to take my dying Imanae in my own car and pleaded with them to give me a doctor to accompany us to Children’s Hospital. I did not know what was wrong with her and wanted someone to come along and explain what exactly her condition was. I wanted a list of injections and other medicines given to her, to give to the doctors at Children’s Hospital. I wanted a copy of her ECG report…..

Nothing was given……and a WARD boy asked to go along.

It took us 15 minutes to reach Children’s Hospital…..where we were told that my 3 year old daughter…my only child…the light of my life…my reason for living…was DEAD!!

Apparently, I am not the only one who has had his life shattered by this hospital. There are several similar incidents where Doctors Hospital have dumped patients whose treatments they have botched, on to other hospitals.

Sixteen killed, 30 wounded in Iraq bomb

FALLUJAH : A car bomb outside near mosque in a town near the Western Iraqi city of Fallujah killed 16 people and wounded 30 on Tuesday around the time of evening prayers.

The security situation in Fallujah — which lies in Anbar province West of Baghdad and was once a major bastion of insurgency — has improved dramatically in recent months as attacks have dropped nationwide.

The attack occurred in Amiriyeh, 15 kilometres southwest of Fallujah, said the doctor from the town’s hospital.

However, sporadic violence still plagues Anbar, Iraq’s largest province, which was the theatre of a brutal war after the US-led invasion of 2003, mainly in Fallujah and the provincial capital Ramadi.

Khloe Kardashian Wedding Pictures, Khloe Kardashian’s new wedding pictures could make someone rich,according to the Associated Press. They report that Kris Jenner who is Khloe’s mom and manager, brokered a deal with OK! magazine to sell Khloe Kardashian’s wedding pictures for $300,000.

Lamar Odom, who is Khloe’s husband will not get any money from the deal. So, basically Khloe Kardashian just landed a $300,000 payday for getting married. Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom reportedly just met during the summer and started dating not long after that.

Then they decided to go ahead and get married this month. TMZ reported that it was mostly Lamar’s idea to go ahead and get married so quickly. Her mom, Kris Jenner was very smart with that OK! magazine deal,though. I want a deal like that.

They report that paparazzi and other bootleg photographers most likely tried to get shots,so we could see some surface online,anyways.
