TrendPK.com: Quick! Bring back Chord Overstreet!

Of course, the absence of the cute trout-mouthed blond can’t be the reason why the season three premiere episode of Glee had a whopping 32 percent fewer viewers than last season’s season premiere.
But something is up.

“Glee” ratings down 30 percent

First, the Glee 3-D movie completely bombed at the box office this summer and now just 8.9 million viewers tuned in Tuesday night for the first new episode since last May.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that it’s a surprising dip for a series that became an overnight phenomenon two years ago and has since generated millions of iTunes downloads and spawned a concert tour, a 3D movie and a reality spinoff (Oxygen’s The Glee Project).

“A lackluster storyline last season may have played a part in the premiere ratings,” Brad Adgate, senior vp research at Horizon Media told THR. “The summer concerts, rumors about cast changes, the downloads, the Oxygen reality series. Perhaps the franchise has spread itself too thin in an attempt to make ancillary revenue.”

It’s clear that hardcore Gleeks like me are still devoted but the challenge for the show’s producers and the network will be to regain the interest of the casual viewer.

Time will tell.

Bungalows, marriage ‘mandaps’, coffee houses, police stations – all of this and more has been a part of set design for many a Bollywood films in the past.

But ever heard of an entire functional train being made just for a film?

Well, this is what makers Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder did for their first ever production Tees Maar Khan. As is a known fact by

now, Tees Maar Khan has a heist plot to it with the entire climax set on a fast running train. To ensure that there were no breaks and an entire train

was available to the team for days at stretch, the makers came up with a novel idea. Instead of hiring a train, they built one all by themselves.

Confirms Farah Khan, “Yes, we have made a train especially for Tees Maar Khan. All credit to our art director Sabu Cyril who has made it look totally

authentic. In fact we tease him saying that he won’t get any award for his effort here since the train looks so real. Not just that, we also made an

aeroplane just for the film’s shoot.”

Making of this train came with a huge price tag as well. As much as 75 lacs were spent on building the train as well as a 500 meters long track.

“The climax requires Akshay to pull off the biggest heist ever in his life. For that, there was a large canvas which was required to be put together. Since

the shooting took place in Malshej ghat, an entire train along with tracks was transported there. There was also added cost on the yard where the train was

stationed when not being used during shooting”, details Farah.

In fact the train wasn’t driven by a professional engine driver and instead had a truck driver getting behind the wheels.

Laughs Farah, “Yes, it was actually quite amusing for the truck driver as well as this was the first time ever that he was running an entire vehicle on a

fixed track. Also, he had to do quite a lot of to-and-fro on that 500 meters long track.”

One wonders though that with a train in sight, was Farah able to resist her temptation to get into a ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ mode all over again? “Come on,

there is a train robbery happening here, not romance. But then you never know, there could well be some surprise in store here as well. After all with Akshay

around, you can expect the unexpected”, teases Farah before signing off.

Deols scrap remixes, opt for original ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ track

Though the Deols are not the producers of their new ‘family’ Yamla Pagla Deewana, they are going all out to make sure the film which features Sunny and Bobby Deol as the inimitable Dharmendra’s sons, gets the best possible treatment, even if this means bending the golden no-favours-asked-though-plenty-always- given Deol rule.

This time, the Deols known for their generosity in the industry actually asked for a favour themselves. They decided to spruce up Yamla Pagla Deewana by scrapping the remix version of the Mohd. Rafi classic song ‘Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana’ from the 1975 film Pratigya and replace it with the original.

The rights were easy to be obtained since the 1975 blockbuster Pratigya was co-produced by Dharmendra’s brother-in-law Bikram Singh Deol.

Director Samir Karnik confirms this give-and-take of the chatpataa chartbuster song . “Yes, we have decided to use the original song instead of the remix. We asked many groups including the British-Asian Bhangra band RDB to give us a sparkling re-mix of the original song by Rafi saab. Frankly no one came up with anything even remotely as rumbustious and dumdaar as the original. So we decided to go with the real thing.”

Karnik admits it’s all in the family. “Pratigya was produced by Dharamji’s brother-in-law. So getting the rights for the ‘Main Jat Yamla Pagla’ song was not difficult. We’ll also retain the RDB re-mix in the soundtrack.”

Getting the correct buzz right through the making till the very release has traditionally played a major role in hyping up a film. Tees Maar Khan has aimed at being

nothing different with a highlight a week keeping this Farah Khan directed film in news ever since it was announced.

Now add another highlight which is bound to make audience look forward to what new does this Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer has to offer. The music of

the film would be launched in Mumbai on Friday and if sources are to be believed, it would turn out to be one of its own kind and never-seen-before event.

“It is definitely not going to be a regular press conference coupled with the screening of a few songs. It is going to be an altogether different affair”,

says a highly placed source from the marketing team of Tees Maar Khan, “A film like Tees Maar Khan has to be pitched differently.”

Extending the reason behind the ‘difference’ that Tees Maar Khan is aiming for, the source adds, “When it comes to regular music launches, there is at

least one such event that happens in Bollywood, whether for a big or a small film. There is visibility that comes in but nothing which is long lasting. Also,

one doesn’t always find a launch to compliment the theme and the genre of a film as all of them look just the same. If Tees Maar Khan too had to do

the same, its music may well have arrived on the stands without quite going for one such event.”

With music by Vishal-Shekhar and a guest composition (for the title track) by Shirish Kunder (who is also the producer of the film), Tees Maar Khan

music is being looked at with a keen interest as it also brings the team together once again after Om Shanti Om. However, with continued suspense

being created around the launch of the film’s soundtrack, one reaches out to the woman at the hot seat, Farah herself.

“Well, a suspense has to be suspense, so why break it before its due date”, Farah teases here, “Sunday is just a few days away so why not wait for a little

while longer. All I can confirm though are two things – 1) The launch is going to be unconventional and would take you by total surprise. You have never seen

music of a film release like this ever before. 2) Going by the genre of the film, our protagonist Tees Maar Khan is going to take you for a ride for

sure, so keep your seat belts fastened and be prepared for the unexpected. Beyond that, if I utter a word, I would just end up revealing it all.”

Well, even though the film is touted to be a racy masala entertainer, seems like Farah and Co. chose the ‘suspense, thrill and action’ genre for the launch

here. Hope it indeed does lead to a grand finale!

John Rich is in shock that a comment he made to Chely Wright years ago became a painful, life-changing moment for her and is now a point of public conversation.

Chely, who publicly identified herself this week as a lesbian, has recounted the comment in numerous locations, including her new book Like Me: Confessions Of A Heartland Country Singer and on “Access Hollywood.”

In the original conversation, John asked her about a rumor in Nashville’s music community that she was homosexual. It was, she has said, the first time she’d been confronted about it directly, and she insisted she was not.
John Rich is also asking his fans to say prayers for the folks in Tennessee by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to help the flooding victims.07e32449e4l45171 john rich
John’s response confirmed for her the disdain that she believed Music Row held for gay people. Chely eventually considered committing suicide as she grappled with fears that her sexual identity would not be accepted by music professionals or the general public.

Laawaris track ‘Apni Toh Jaise Taise’ won’t be deleted from Housefull for now

It looks like the controversial re-mix of the Laawaaris track ‘Apni Toh Jaise Taise’ in this weekend’s big hit Housefull won’t have to be deleted from the film, at least for now.
Acting swiftly on the honourable High Court’s decision in Kolkata restraining the use of the chartbusting Lawaaris song, the music company Saregama which sold the song’s rights to producer Sajid Nadaidwala got an amendment against the High Court’s decision in Kolkata.
Divulging these facts, Apurv Nagpal Managing Director of HMV-Saregama says, “The restraint order has been amended, pending our appeal which would be heard on Monday. The film (Housefull)’s prints have already been sent to all centres on Friday.”
Housefull director Sajid Khan appears blissfully unaware of the copyright battle raging against a song in his film.
Says Sajid Khan, “I am the film’s director. I liked the song and I used it in Housefull after I thought all the legal procedure was followed. At the moment, I’m just so happy and relieved by the response to my film that I really don’t want to go into a matter that I don’t understand.”
