Salman to star in Atul Agnihotri’s next, remake of Telugu film Dookudo
Mahesh Babu’s current Telugu blockbuster Dookudo is now being remade with Salman Khan in the lead. Mahesh Babu has made it known to the film’s makers that Salman is the best person to play the lead in the Hindi version of the film.

After Bodyguard, Salman’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri will now produce another film with Salman in the lead. Salman Khan will now star in another South Indian remake, this time of the Telugu film Dookudo which features Mahesh Babu in the lead.
Salman’s sister Alvira is expected to fly down to Hyderabad to seal the deal this month.
Confirming this, Mahesh Babu’s wife Namrata Shirodkar says, “Yes Baby (Alvira Khan) is flying down soon about Dookudo. The film is very special for Mahesh. And he wants Salman to do the Hindi version.”
Salman isn’t doing the item song in Joker anymore
Contrary to reports, Salman is not leaving his shooting in Dublin to return to Mumbai for Bigg Boss and to participate in an item song for Joker.

Salman Khan
The Yash Raj spokesperson confirms that there will be no break in the shooting in Dublin. “Salman is not taking a break from the shooting in Dublin. He will, however, be returning to shoot for Bigg Boss between two schedules of Ek Tha Tiger.”
It was planned by director Shirish Kunder as the big surprise for the Dabangg girl. An item song for Dabangg’s ‘Rajjo’ with ‘Chulbul Pandey‘ in Joker had been elaborately planned for Sonakshi. And everyone in the unit was under an oath of secrecy regarding Salman’s flash appearance.
Says a source, “Farah Khan had rehearsed Salman’s steps for the item song in Joker before he left for Dublin to shoot for Ek Tha Tiger. But Sonakshi had not been told about it. Ever since Dabangg, where Malaika did ‘Munni Badnaam‘ with Salman, Sonakshi had been craving to do an item number with him. So, Shirish and Farah went through a great deal of drama of concealment to make sure that Sonakshi did not know that Salman would join in the item song. Salman’s grand entry was planned like Amitabh Bachchan’s in the iconic song ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’ from Muqaddar Ka Sikandar.”
Alas, all these elaborate plans have come to nought. Salman would now be unable to be part of the item song. Because of Salman’s illness and the botched schedule, the superstar is unable to spare time for the number.
Says the source, “Now Farah had to change the choreography for the item song overnight. Sonakshi has also been told that her intended surprise has fallen flat.”

BRUSSELS: The adoption of the Irish 4-year austerity programme and the 2011 budget in particular is key for the EU/IMF financial support programme for Dublin now under negotiations, the European Commission said on Tuesday.
“The 4-year plan and the 2011 budget are fundamental elements in the current discussions,” Commission spokesman Amadeu Altafaj told a regular news briefing. “It is very important that this budget is passed in parliament.”
Ireland’s government was on a knife-edge on Tuesday with Prime Minister Brian Cowen challenging the opposition to let an austerity budget pass and trigger an EU/IMF bailout before early elections.
Amid public fury over the way he handled the rescue, Irish media said Cowen may face calls to resign immediately or turn over leadership of his Fianna Fail party before the next election at a meeting of party lawmakers later on
Oil rebounds to $81 as European debt woes ease

SINGAPORE: Oil rebounded from four-week lows on Thursday as a weaker dollar and cautious optimism about Ireland’s debt crisis rekindled interest in commodities, while a sharp crude inventory decline in top consumer the United States supported prices.
Front month U.S. crude on Wednesday touched $80.06 a barrel, the lowest intra-day price since October 20, capping a four-session drop that knocked off about 8 percent from a 25-month high of $88.63 a week ago amid concerns about European sovereign debt and a potential increase in Chinese interest rates.
The December contract on Thursday rose 89 cents to $81.33 at 0439 GMT. ICE Brent gained 98 cents to $84.26.
Ireland agreed on Wednesday to work with a European Union-IMF mission on urgent steps to shore up its shattered banking sector, a process that could lead to a bailout despite Dublin’s deep
Euro struggles near 7-week low on Irish woes

LONDON: The euro hovered near seven-week lows versus the dollar on Wednesday, threatening to deepen a 5 percent slide seen so far this month with no immediate solution for Ireland’s debt crisis in sight.
While euro zone finance ministers agreed to lay the groundwork for bailing out Ireland’s banking sector with the IMF, Dublin has yet to decide whether to request the aid.
The uncertainty created by the euro zone problems benefitted the dollar, adding fuel to the short-covering rally that on Tuesday drove the greenback to a month high of 79.416 .DXY against a basket of major currencies.
Although comments from Fed officials advocating further easing steps if needed briefly pushed down the dollar, traders expect its rally to continue after it rose on Tuesday despite a sharp fall in U.S. bond yields.

Israel expels activists as Gaza pressure grows

JERUSALEM: Israel on Monday threw out the latest group of activists who had tried to breach its blockade of Gaza as pressure grew for an international probe into the naval raid that killed nine Turks.
Seven of the 19 activists from another aid ship, the Rachel Corrie, which tried to run the Gaza blockade last week were expelled from Israel to Jordan on Sunday. The remaining 12 were due to be flown home overnight, officials said.
Five Irish nationals, including Nobel Peace laureate Mairead Maguire, were expected to leave on a flight to Dublin on Monday. Until then, they were waiting in a special section of the airport, but were not being allowed to use their mobile phones, immigration officials said.
Israeli forces took control of the boat on Saturday as it tried to reach Gaza, in a peaceful operation that contrasted with the May 31 raid when commandos stormed a Turkish boat packed with more than 600 passengers.
Thousands in Europe vent anger at Israel after deadly raid

PARIS: Tens of thousands protested across Europe Saturday against the killing of activists during a botched raid on an aid fleet, as Israel peacefully boarded another ship trying to defy its blockade of Gaza.
Angry protestors chanting anti-Israeli slogans and waving Palestinian and Turkish flags took to the streets of Istanbul, London, Dublin and Paris as well as a string of other French cities, following Monday”s deadly assault.
Demonstrators branded Israel a “murderer”, demanded that it lift its blockade and vowed that the deaths of the nine activists would not be in vain.
In Turkey a crowd of around 10,000 gathered at the Caglayan square on the European side of the city straddling the Bosphorus Strait.
“Murderer Israel!,” chanted the demonstrators, at times breaking into shouts of “Allahu Akbar!” or “God is great” in English.
“The longer we keep silent, the bigger the massacre grows,” read a banner in French while the demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and shouted anti-Israeli slogans.
Many of them wore headbands that read “Murderers Israel, keep your hands off the boats!” in Hebrew and English. The dead activists were all Turkish including one who also had US nationality.
In Dublin, organisers of the Irish march said up to several thousand people had taken part, but police put the figure in the hundreds.
“I think people are incredibly angry that nine peace activists were murdered in an attempt to intimidate people coming to Gaza,” said Richard Boyd Barrett, chairman of the Irish Anti-War Movement who was on the march.
In France, over 20,000 people, including 5,000 in Paris, vented their anger at Israel”s handling of the aid flotilla, police said.

New ash cloud disrupts UK, Ireland air travel

DUBLIN: A new cloud of ash from a volcano in Iceland triggered fresh disruptions in European air travel on Sunday, as Britain and Ireland shut down major airports and a no-fly zone was imposed across southern parts of UK airspace.
The no-fly zone will affect Heathrow, Europe”s busiest airport, and Gatwick from 0000 GMT to 0600 GMT on Monday as the high density of a volcanic ash cloud from Iceland drifts south, the National Air Traffic Service (NATS) said.
“The high density ash cloud continues to move further south in the early hours of tomorrow morning”, it said in a statement.
Ash from the same volcano wreaked havoc on European air traffic last month, when some 100,000 flights were cancelled and left millions of passengers stranded. Airlines lost $1.7 billion, the International Air Transport Association said.
Airports included in the no-fly zone include Heathrow, Gatwick and London City, as well as all airfields in Northern Ireland and airports in parts of Scotland, NATS said.
The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) said three northwestern airports were closed from early Sunday and hub Dublin would be shut from 1800 GMT until at least 1100 GMT on Monday, but indicated that the disruption might not last very long.
“The outlook later tomorrow looks better, I wouldn”t be too optimistic for the early part of the day but the later part of the day looks better and as the week goes on, it should improve,” IAA Chief Executive Eamon Brennan told national broadcaster RTE.
North Atlantic overflights through Irish-controlled airspace remain unaffected despite the cloud drifting over the country. Cork and Kerry, as well as Shannon — an important stopover for flights to the United States — are open until further notice.
Western airports Sligo and Ireland West (Knock), shut on Sunday, would re-open at 0800 GMT while Donegal would remain closed until at least 1100 GMT. Other airports, Galway and Waterford, would reopen at 0500 GMT, the IAA said.
“As a result of the disruption to UK airports we are running four additional services on Monday 17th May,” Eurostar said, adding that an extra 3,500 seats would be available on routes linking London and Paris.
British rail operator Virgin Trains said it would provide an extra 7,000 seats through Monday, mainly on the Birmingham to Glasgow and Edinburgh, and London to Glasgow routes.
The UK government had warned that parts of British airspace might have to close until Tuesday with different areas including the southeast, Heathrow is located, likely to be closed at different times.
Teeside, Leeds-Bradford, Blackpool, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Doncaster, Carlisle, Humberside and East Midlands airports fall within the no-fly zone, NATS said. Airports in the Isle of Man will also be affected.
The volcano under the Eyjafjallajokull glacier in Iceland is continuing to erupt with no signs of the explosive activity about to end and an ash plume reaching heights of 25,000 feet (7,620 metres), Britain”s Met Office said.
“The ash cloud is expected to clear the UK during Tuesday as southwesterly winds become established during Monday,” it said.
The Met said that two aircrafts, one from the UK and one from Germany, had flown to investigate the ash plume.
“In many areas the cloud was clearly visible to the naked eye and was described as “a grey-black layer”,” it said. “The pilots … reported that “one should not fly into this layer”.”
Elsewhere in Europe, German airlines” association said no restriction of German air traffic was expected due to the ash, and German airlines were operating flights as normal.
In the Netherlands, an Amsterdam Schiphol airport official said there were no expected closures in Dutch airspace.
