ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday called for protecting democracy and democratic institutions adding that the elected assemblies and the government will complete their five-year mandated tenure regardless of what the opponents are saying and doing.

Cricketer Nasir Jamshed released on bail

LAHORE: A local court has released cricketer Nasir Jamshed on a surety bond of 20,000 rupees after he was arrested for cheating during a school exam.

Jamshed”s lawyer Sardar Mohammad Sabir said Tuesday that criminal court judge Mohammad Jawad Alam Qureshi has accepted the bail of his client on a surety bond.

Jamshed, 20, was arrested in Lahore on Monday after being caught allegedly cheating while taking a ninth-grade English exam to pass higher secondary school.

a28b860d6eeaders Nawaz Sharif Calls to Suspend Cases Against Baloch LeadersPakistan News: PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has called to revoke the cases filed against Blaoch leaders, adding that the Balochis had been instigated for rebellion.
The PML-N supremo met with Senator Hasil Bizenjo, Dr Abul Hai Baloch, provincial minister Sanaullah Zehri, senior lawyer Ali Ahmed Kurd and other notables in Quetta. Nawaz urged the incumbent government to immediately address the grievances of Balochistan, adding that he understood the plight of those people whose relatives had been missing as he himself had been through that.
Nawaz also met former Supreme Court Bar president Ali Ahmed Kurd along with a delegation. The lawyers hailed the PML-N leader for backing the black coats’ struggle to upheld rule of law in the country.
Senator Hasil Bizenjo told the media that Nawaz has assured him during their meeting to take up the issue of missing people and Akbar Bugti’s murder in the parliament.

Almost 18 provinces of Punjab and Sindh were plunged into darkness owing to a technical fault occurred in Guddu Thermal Power Plant , which resulted into closing down of its 14 power units. The reduction of water in dams resulted into the decrease in power generation from 6,600megawatts to 630MW. The difference between power generation and its demand is at 4,500MW. As a result, around 12 to 16 hours power outages have been carried out in rural areas while in the urban areas 9 to 12 hours blackouts were reported. Multan city experienced a 12-hour blackout the other night on Monday when the Kot Addu power station main line tripped. In Peshawar, public is suffering acutely due to eight to ten hours loadshedding.

In a telephonic interview to British news channel, Zardari said, “..we are political people and we will cope all issues in a political way.”

He further said that “He is ready to meet all the challenges and guard against all external and internal threats”.

President stated that it is “our duty to fight against external and internal enemies who disrupt our peace, progress and the efforts to bring prosperity to the people.”  Zardari vowed that PPP would not disappoint the country and the nation.

He further said that he is an elected President according to the constitution and some elements are trying to remove him unconstitutionally

918932d19150x150 Musharraf treason case: SHC directs publishing call notice in papersKarachi, Pakistan:- The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday directed to publish a notice in newspapers to summon former president Pervez Musharraf for hearing of a petition filed to register treason case against him.

The petitioner Maulvi Iqbal Haider told the court that notices were not being received at former president’s residence in Chak Shahzad and report of disobedience had also come. The high court directed the petitioner to get permission and issue notices in newspapers.

Maulvi Iqbal Haider took position in constitutional petition being heard since March 28 that Pervez Musharraf violated his oath of office and overthrew the elected government. He suspended the constitution twice and made amendments according to his own will therefore treason case should be filed against him, the petition stated.
