Eid ul Azha being celebrated across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Eid ul Azha is being celebrated with religious zeal and fervor across the country today.

Eid prayers were offered at eidgahs, mosques, imambargahs and open grounds.

In the early hours of the day, Muslims thronged mosques, imambargahs and open spaces for Eid prayers. After Eid prayers, special prayers were offered for Allah’s blessings, peace for mankind, solidarity among the Muslim Umma and prosperty of the homeland.

The largest congregation of Eid prayer was held at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad where politicians, diplomats and citizens offered Eid prayers.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani offered Eid prayers at the President House and Prime Minister House respectively.

In Karachi the largest Eid prayer congregation was held in Bag-e-Jinnah where Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad

ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Fitr has been celebrated across the country on Saturday with simplicity to express solidarity with the millions of people devastated by the unprecedented floods, Samaa reported Sunday.

People across the country offered Eid prayers on the occasion which marks the end of month-long fasting of Ramazan.

Old and young alike dress in new clothes and greet each other at places such as mosques to offer Eid prayers and seek benediction of Almighty Allah and His forgiveness.

The day began with special prayers for the flood victims.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, federal ministers and top civil and military officials offered Eid prayers at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad.

Commercial plane crashes near Islamabad; deaths feared

ISLAMABAD: A commercial airbus of a private airline has crashed into Margalla Hills, a mountainous range behind Shah Faisal Mosque, apparently due to rough weather, Geo news reported.

According to preliminary reports, as many as 150 passengers including crewmembers were on board plane while the smoke is seen rising through heavy clouds from the crash site, police and rescue service officials said.

Eyewitnesses said people noticed airbus flying at very low altitude near Daman-e-Koh this morning and it might have crashed due to rough weather.

The wreckage can be seen in video footages with fierce fire raging and smoke emitting from there despite heavy rains in Islamabad.

Airport sources said the flight took off at 7:50am from Karachi to Islamabad but crashed due to uneven weather a few minutes before landing after loosing connection with control tower.

Islamabad is witnessing heavy showers and thick fog at the moment. Meanwhile rescue teams have been dispatched to area.

f9871e6f6dervour Nation to celebrate Eid with religious fervourLahore, Pakistan : – Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated throughout the country, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday with great religious fervour and festivity, marking the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan.

Eid-ul-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal Al-Mukarram and is one of the greatest Islamic festivals. The faithful will wear clean clothes and offer Eid prayers at mosques, ‘Eidgahs’ and open places across the country.

On the occasion, special prayers would be offered for the progress and prosperity of the country, unity of the ‘Ummah’, solution of their problems and liberation of Muslim territories, including occupied Kashmir.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have congratulated the nation on the auspicious occasion of Eid.

In the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the ‘Eid’ congregations would be held at more than 300 places.

In Islamabad, the biggest congregation would be held at the grand Faisal Mosque at 9:00 AM, where the high-ups of the government will also offer Eid prayers. In Rawalpindi, the biggest Eid congregation would be held at the historic Liaquat Bagh at 9:45 AM.

Following the Eid prayers, Muslims will spend their time feasting with family and friends and feeding those who are less fortunate. Sweets and other special dishes would be prepared for serving the guests. People will also exchange gifts on the occasion.

The government has declared Eid holidays from September 21 to 23 and paid advanced salaries to employees for enabling them to meet their Eid expenses.

On this occasion, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has also offered a special package on Eid days to encourage people to exchange Eid greetings with their near and dear ones.

The Radio and Television channels have chalked out a series of special programmes on the occasion of Eid while newspapers will publish special supplements, highlighting the significance of the day.
