Fozia Wahab’s son escapes kidnapping attempt

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Fozia Wahab’s son narrow escaped a kidnapping attempt late on Sunday night, TrendPK.com reported.
According to the sources, unidentified armed man abducted Barrister Murtaza Akram, son of Fozia Wahab, from D A Scheme 1. On the way the kidnappers left Murtaza on Super Highway after looting him when the car stopped owing to end of fuel.
Talking to TrendPK.com News, Fauzia Wahab said that unidentified kidnappers attempted to abduct his son. Police has been reported about the incident, she added.

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party Secretary Information Fauzia Wahab said that his party will not make an alliance with any political party during the Local Body elections.
While talking to media persons on Wednesday, she said that President Asif Ali has directed the authorities to submit the report on Zulifkarabad.

Presidsent announces to hold local body elections
President Asif Ali Zardari has announced to hold the local body election in a period of 6 months whereas the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that people have become fed-up of the present set up and are praying for their departure, Dunya News reported on Monday.
Talking to the media men in Karachi after a meeting of the provincial cabinet of Sindh presided over by the President, Information secretary of PPP Fauzia Wahab has said that the President has directed the provincial legislators to start preparing for the local body elections. The information secretary also said that discussions were held on the issues of law and order, load shedding, inflation, agriculture, education, irrigation, finance and the recent wave of dengue fever.
Govt imposes flood tax; Punjab, MQM oppose
PPP leader Fauzia Wahab said that President Zardari has approved one-time flood tax in Sindh but Punjab government and MQM have opposed the decision, Dunya News reported on Monday.
Talking to media in Karachi, Fauzia said that one-time flood tax would be imposed, but after the approval of the National Assembly. She said that the President has approved imposition of flood tax. She said that this tax would also be imposed on Sindh. She said agriculture sector would be brought under tax net. She admitted that corruption was reported in the distribution of Watan Cards but there was a system of transparency that brought this corruption to surface. She said that the government wasnt afraid of Army or black coats. She snubbed Rana Sanaullah over mudslinging PPP ministers.

MQM not taken onboard: Farooq Sattar
Dr. Farooq Sattar said that MQM was not taken onboard and the party will oppose this decision. He said that due to skyrocketing inflation, suicide trend was on the rise and new tax will overburden the already depressed people, so MQM will oppose every such decision.

Nawaz wants change through elections
PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said that he wanted change through elections and change should come as people want it.
Talking in Dunya News programme Dunya Mere Agay, Nawaz said that it was governments responsibility to work for the good of the people. He said that martial law separated Pakistan in two parts and if democracy was not saved now, martial law could come again. He said that he would not become part of any conspiracy, instead face any challenge. He said that he returned back when purpose of Long March was fulfilled and the Long March was not held for personal gains.
Fauzia Wahab talking to Dunya News said that Nawaz Sharif was talking about strengthening democracy then there would be no space for martial law.
Nawaz condoles demise of Ramday’s nephew
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif visited the residence of Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday and condoled the demise of the latter’s nephew.
Nawaz Sharif, who returned home from London yesterday, visited the residence of Justice Ramday at noon today and expressed his condolence on the death of the latter’s nephew, former advocate general Punjab Raza Farooq.

Strict security measures taken in SC today
ISLAMABAD: Additional security measures were in place on Monday at the Supreme Court ahead of hearing on constitutional petitions challenging some clauses of 18th Amendment.
Extra contingent of rangers, police and elite forces were deployed while every irrelevant person was barred from entering the apex court.
In addition, media persons were issued special permit cards to cover the proceeding.
To keep strong vigilance outside the Supreme Court, several close circuit cameras were also installed.
Application filed for registration of FIR against Fauzia
LAHORE: A local court on Monday put off till May 27 the hearing of an application seeking registration of a case against PPP MNA Fauzia Wahab for her remarks on Quran and the constitution.
The applicant, Mehwish Chaudhry, argued Fauzia’s remarks have hurt the sentiments of Muslims. Therefore, the court should order the Nishtar Town Police Station to file an FIR against Fauzia under Section 295-A and C.
Additional Session Judge Sajjad Sheikh heard the application and ordered the SHO of said police station to appear before the court on May 27 after seeking explanation from Fauzia Wahab.
Meeting Of PPP’s Core Committee Held At Presidency
President Asif Ali Zardari was contented as the confrontation between the government and judiciary on the issue of appointment of superior court judges eventually ended.
President presided a meeting of PPP’s core committee at the Presidency yesterday in which Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was also present. Addressing the meeting, President said that PPP’s government does not want coonflicts among the institutions, rather want to move on with a cooperative policy. The meeting was also of the unanimous view that a heavy political, democratic and economic agenda awaited the government for implementation; where as social and political stability was essential for the pursuit of the agenda. The meeting of PPP’s core committee was attended by Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Nazar Mohammad Gondal, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Rehman Malik, Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Syed Naveed Qamar, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Mian Raza Rabbani, Faisal Raza Abidi, Fauzia Wahab, Rukhsana Bangash and Farhatullah Babar.
