KH Sharif murder plot: Interior Ministry to form judicial body
Interior Ministry on Monday announced to constitute a judicial commission to probe the murder plot of Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif has been taken a week ago.
The statement added that Governor Punjab Salman Taseer has been told that the decision in this regard has been taken a week ago and the High courts registrars have been asked to give the names of those to be listed in the judicial commission.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Governor Punjab Mr Salman Taseer had written a letter to the Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan wherein a request was made to constitute a special judicial commission to probe the matter related to the alleged plot to target the life of Chief Justice of Lahore High Court. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad in his reply to the letter written by Governor Punjab has informed to approach Federal Government regarding formation of commission to probe into the Justice Khawaja Sharif assassination plot.
In reply to this letter, Supreme Court has informed the Governor Punjab that under Section 3 of the Commission of Inquiries Act 1956, the Federal Government is empowered to constitute a commission to inquire into any matter of public importance. Therefore, the learned Governor Punjab may like to approach the Federal Government for the purpose.

15% hike in rail fares recommended
LAHORE: GM Operations Pakistan Railways, Ashfaque Khatak, late Friday said he has sent federal government a summary requesting for 15 percent increase in fares of goods and passenger trains, Geo news reported.
Talking to Geo news he termed inflation in rail fares as ‘indispensable’ in order to meet additional expenses of Pakistan Railways given the salary-raise for government employees and increase in diesel and electricity tariff.

PESHAWAR: NWFP government has received Rs 3 billion from Federal Government as the royalty of Net Hydel Profit (NHP). The province has received Rs 15 billion during this fiscal year in this regard.
Province was to get Rs 0.5 billion per month as per schedule but two instalments were yet to be received.

Airports in Washington were closing early Tuesday, roughly a day after they reopened for service following the weekend storm.
Most airlines canceled flights through Wednesday so their planes don’t get stuck in the snow. Already, lawmakers have had trouble getting to the capital due to reduced flights and the House of Representatives had decided to scrap its entire work week.
