Others whose foreign assets have been announced include Arbab Alamgir, Farah Naz Isfahani, Asma Arbab Alamgir, Engineer Mohammad Tariq Khattak and justice Fakhrunnisa, Engineer Usman Tariq, Mohammad Jameel Malik, Gul Mohammad Laat, Abdul Nabi Bakash, Mohammad Zufran, and Abdul Rehman Malik and Muneer Orakzai.

Federal Law Minister Maula Bakash Chandio gave the detail of MPs foreign accounts and assets. Arbab Alamgir, Fakhrunisa, Asma Arbab, Engineer Mohammad Tariq have their assets in Dubai. Engineer Usman Tariq and Muneer Orakzai own assets in Qatar. Malik Jameel owns accounts in Holland and Ch Zahid Iqbal in London. Farah Naz Isfahani, Gul Mohammad Laat, Abdul Nabi and Mohammad Zofran own assets in UAE.

The locations of Fehmida Mirza, Tariq Azeem, Kishan Chand Parwani and Adnan Mohammad Khan’s assets are not known. Tariq Azeem has 21,272 pounds in UK, Ishaq Dar has 150 thousand AED in UAE, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh Rs 25 lac in Washington, Azam Swati has $40, 8700 in US, Muneer Ahmed Orakzai AED 12,636 and Khawja Asif has AED 74, 126 in UAE.

Govt. to complete its time: Fehmida

BADIN: The Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza said that the present democratic set up will complete its time.

While addressing the Eid Millan Party in Badin on Friday, Dr Fehmida said that the revolution is linked with the democracy.

“The governments in past made people jobless but the present government of Pakistan Peoples’ Party has reinstated them.”

BADIN: The Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza on Saturday visited flood relief camps and distributed Watan Cards.

Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulifqar Mirza and former test cricketer, Zaheer Abbas, also accompanied the speaker.

While talking to SAMAA on the occasion, she said that about 80 percent of the people in Pakistan are living below the poverty line and, she added, the situation would become even worse after the floods. SAMAA

LHC dismisses objections in dual office case

LAHORE: Lahore High Court rejected government objections in the President”s dual office case on Monday.

The government counsels challenged the jurisdiction of the court in hearing of the petition filed in Lahore High Court against President”s holding of dual offices. The counsels said that the high court has no jurisdiction to hear the case.

Justice Ijaz Chaudhry, the head judge of the five-member bench, turned down the government objections.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till July 07.

Bugti murder case: Plea filed in SC for suo moto notice

ISLAMABAD: Jamhoori Watan Party Chief Talal Bugti has filed a plea in the Supreme Court requested to take suo moto notice for the arrest of the accused in murder case of his father Nawab Akbar Bugti’s murder.

Talal Bugti in his plea to the apex court said the accused of the assassination of his father were not being arrested despite the high court orders and registration of FIR against them.

Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao, than Governor Owais Ghani, chief minister Jam Yusuf and Balochistan home minister Shoaib Nausherwani have been nominated in the FIR of murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Talal Bugti has filed a plea requested chief justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the issue and also seeking issuance of red warrant against former President Pervaiz Musharraf and former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Pakistan fighting war not for US but for its own survival: PM

GARHI KHUDA BUX: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday said Pakistan is fighting not the US battle but a war for its own survival and that no dictation whatsoever is required from outside in this regard.

Talking to newsmen Monday at Garhi Khuda Bux after offering fateha at grave of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on her 57th birthday, he said “we are fighting war of people for the country”s integrity.””

He said killers of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto will be apprehended and the government was moving forward in investigation in light of UN report.

Regarding sanctions on Iran, the Premier said if the US put in place any restriction on Iran the same would be reviewed in the light of international laws.

Replying to a question, he said three provinces have rejected Kalabagh Dam and “we respect their decision.””

Gilani said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was “symbol of the federation and a chain of all the four provinces. She was not only leader of Sindh or Pakistan but a great leader of the world. The entire world was deprived of her leadership.””

He said vision of Benazir Bhutto was same as of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto – rule of law, press freedom of press and democracy in its real spirit. He said dictatorship has ended, 1973 constitution restored and 18th constitutional amendment passed by the parliament unanimously. “We are pursuing policy of reconciliation and taking all institutions on board.””

To another question, Prime Minister said it came up during talks with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh both leaders agreed that war is not a resolution to the issues.

Peoples of both the countries face a number of other problems, such as, poverty, inflation, unemployment and terrorism. Both countries should pursue dialogue which was the only best solution for resolving all issues. Pakistan wants to have good relations with the neighbouring country, he stated.

He said NFC Award was “great achievement of present democratic government. Dictators failed to give 7th NFC Award and this achievement was the credit of present democratic government.””

Gilani said law and order is a provincial subject and could be resolved through negotiations with allies.

Federal Ministers Raja Pervez Ashraf, Ejaz Jakhrani, Speaker National Assembly Dr Mrs Fehmida Mirza, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Provincial Minister Ayaz Soomro accompanied the Prime Minister.

2d1357dc20night History Made At NightA parliamentary committee agreed on a constitutional amendment. The amendment package would now be presented in the Parliament.

All 27-members of the committee, representing all the political groups having their representation in the two houses of the Parliament, put their signatures on the constitutional package’s draft in a ceremony held at the Committee Room of the Parliament House.

The 18th amendment strips the president of powers inherited from the country’s former military ruler, fulfilling a long-standing opposition demand.

Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was the first to sign the draft followed by Naveed Qamar. Besides, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and Ishaq Dar, Babar Awan, Lashkari Raisani, Wasim Sajjad and others also singed the draft. Raza Rabbani thanked all the members of the committee and said the nation’s interest is kept first after setting aside party’s interest.

Federal Law Minister Babar Awan, after singing the draft, said there are nearly 100 clauses in the draft amendment.

The draft amendment transfers a variety of powers, including the ability to fire an elected government and appoint military chiefs, from the office of the president to the prime minister.

0d8de26f54today Amendment Bill To Be Tabled In NA TodayThe Constitutional Amendment Bill drafted by the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms (PCCR) will be presented to before the parliament today.

Draft of amendments was presented to Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza by the members of Constitutional Reforms Committee headed by its Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani. The PCCR has reached consensus on renaming NWFP as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.

The committee on the composition of judicial committee for appointment of judges agreed that seventh member of the Judicial Commission would be former judge of the higher judiciary to be named by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The 27 members of the committee, representing all the political groups having their representation in the two houses of the Parliament, signed the draft of 18th Constitutional Amendment – comprising 95 articles – in a ceremony held at the Committee Room of the Parliament House.

NA continues 18th amendment bill debate

ISLAMABAD: The debate on 18th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2010 is underway in National Assembly.

Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza is chairing the session. Opening the debate, Dr.Farooq Sattar of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said strong provinces are mandatory for strong Pakistan. Sindh is the highest Sales Tax payer province whereas Punjab gets the major share of the tax on the basis of population.

He demanded that Sales Tax should be handed over to provinces and said that MQM has no objection on Sarikai province; however, new provinces should be made by making constitutional amendment and with simple majority of the parliament.

Minority member Kishan Chand Parvani said he is supporting constitutional amendments but protests for not including minority member in constitutional reforms committee.

The member of PML-Q Shah Jahan Yousuf staged walk out against change of name of NWFP to Pakhtoonkhawa.

She condoled with MNA Ayaz Sadiq on the death of his father in law justice (r) Sardar Iqbal in Lahore. Talking to media she refused to comment on NRO. She said she couldn’t intervene in court issues. The Speaker maintained that democracy still faced many challenges, adding that a joint session of parliament would be held on November 24 to discuss Balochistan Package.
