Don 2 to be released in 3D format

After the success of Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted 3D, every other filmmaker in town is planning to either make or convert his film in 3D format. The latest buzz is that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment are planning to release their eagerly awaited SRK starrer Don 2 in 3D.
After seeing a few 3D conversion tests, the duo was convinced that Don 2 in 3D will only further enhance the impact. Needless to say, foreign technicians will be working on the 3D conversion process.
Don 2 will be released in Hindi and dubbed in Tamil and Telugu as well. The film opens worldwide on Dec 23.
Rana Daggubati replaces Abhishek Bachchan in RGV’s Department
After sharing screen-space with Abhishek Bachchan in Dum Maaro Dum, South actor Rana Daggubati has now gone ahead and replaced Abhishek in Ram Gopal Varma’s forthcoming flick Department.
RGV’s Department was to star Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan and Kangna Ranaut in lead roles but now the news is that Rana Daggubati has been signed for the part which was originally to be played by Junior Bachchan.
Ramu even confirmed the same on Twitter and said, “Due to date problems to match combinations with other actors I am going ahead with Rana Daggubati instead of Abhishek Bachchan in Department.”
While the filmmaker cites the common date issue as the reason, one wonders what’s the real reason behind Abhishek’s ouster from the film? Has it got to do with the poor performance of AB Jr’s last few films or has there been a fall out between Abhishek and Ramu, especially after a tabloid recently carried a story of Ramu sending out negative SMSes of Abhishek’s recent release Dum Maaro Dum. Your guess is as good as ours.
Scriptwriter Akhil Dwivedi sues Bhansali for Rs. 2 crores

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish continues to remain in the news but for all the wrong reasons. Despite glowing reviews, the film failed to take off at the Box Office and will entail heavy losses to its makers. As if this was not enough, now a scriptwriter who goes by the name of Akhil Rajendra Dwivedi has sued Bhansali for Rs. 2 crore alleging that the director used his script without informing him.
Apparently, Dwivedi claims that he had registered his script (which is very similar to Guzaarish) in 2005 and had even met Bhansali in 2008. SLB loved the script and said that he would get back to Dwivedi in a few weeks time. However, he never reverted and was unreachable for Dwivedi.
When Dwivedi finally saw Guzaarish (which released last Friday), he was shocked to see the similarities in the film and his script. When Bhansali didn’t pay heed to his demands of giving him due credit, he had no option but to go ahead and sue the filmmaker for Rs. 2 crores.
It may be recalled that a few days before the release of Guzaarish, a novelist called Dayanand Raajan too had threatened to file a case of copyright infringement against Bhansali.
With this new lawsuit, it looks like things are only getting bleaker for Bhansali.
Prakash Jha wins case against TV channel

Not too long ago, it was for his film Raajneeti that Prakash Jha was in the news. Well, this time it’s for his next film Aarakshan. Aarakshan will be Prakash Jha’s next directorial venture starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn in lead roles. The film, which is yet to go under production, is however in news over its title.
The issue arrived when television channel – Imagine used the name of Jha’s next in its forthcoming TV show ‘Aarmanon Ka Balidan – Aarakshan’.
Reportedly, Prakash Jha tried to reason with the makers of the show regarding the use of term, Aarakshan in the show’s title as Jha already owned the rights to it. However, due to non-compliance from the channel’s end, the filmmaker slapped a legal notice to restrain Imagine from using a similar name.
But now, Jha can take a sigh of relief as he won the battle against Imagine for illegally using the title, as his production house had the title registered in his name.
The association has now ruled the case in Jha’s favour and have barred Imagine from using Aarakshan as their title for the show.
Rohit Shetty to make comedy film with Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan

The verdict is out. Rohit Shetty’s laugh-a-thon Golmaal 3 has emerged as the clear winner at the Box Office this Diwali. While the filmmaker is but
obviously elated with his latest success, he is not one of those who believe in resting on past laurels. Rohit is already busy planning his next two films.
While his immediate next as reported earlier would be the remake of the Tamil film Singam and would star Ajay Devgn in the lead, Rohit is also
planning a comedy with Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan. Interestingly, the duo starred in Rohit’s directorial debut Zameen.
Confirming this news Rohit says, “Yes I am planning a comedy with Ajay and Abhishek. I have narrated the idea to them and am waiting to see how the dates can
be worked out. The comedy flick would be produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd.”
However, Rohit maintains that the immediate next project that he would be working on would be the remake of Singam. “The comedy film will start only
by mid next year. I would first be doing the Singam remake with Ajay. That is an action film and is being produced by Reliance Big Pictures. We start
shooting in Feb. 2011 and I plan to wrap the film in two months. We are aiming at a June release.”
With these two films, Rohit Shetty surely has his plate full for next year.
