Wednesday night was more about Simon Cowell relationship with Paula Abdul than about the finale of American Idol of Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze.
The most delightful moment was when “Pants on the Ground” was done for us. I just love that man General Larry Platt. He belted it out for us, and then, back to Simon Cowell’s tribute. The tribute took up most of American Idol tonight, and made what should have been a 30 
minute show, a two hour lesson in boredom.
However, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell had a great time riding down memory lane with us dragging behind. Randy Jackson stood and applauded for Simon Cowell as ridiculous Ryan Seacreast told him to sit down. I’m not kidding.
Paula explained she wasn’t having fun anymore, but I have to admit, the re-runs of her fighting with Simon were funny. Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul are a wonderful team, and after tonight, I have no doubt why “American Idol” is falling pants on the ground

POISON frontman Bret Michaels performed live for the first time after a triple health crisis on tonight’s (Wednesday, May 26) “American Idol” finale. He joined talent show finalist Casey James for a rendition of the POISON classic “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. In addition, legendary rocker Alice Cooper kicked off the finale by performing his rock anthem “School’s Out” with a stage full of schoolboys and schoolgirls. The “Idol” finalists joined Cooper, dancers and singers all dressed up in school uniforms.

And, as I surmised–and many others did a long time ago–the survivors of Oceanic 815 were in a kind of purgatory. All that flashing forwards and backwards and sideways was their lives flashing before them.
The best line of the night went to Kate, after Desmond told her someone named Christian Shephard had died. “Christian Shephard? Seriously?”
Back in the ether of my Fox News column I did say a long time ago that Jack’s father was named for a reason. The show had highly Biblical overtones, and they call came together tonight.
But, as with everything to do with “Lost,” and most series finales, this will be debated for a long time to come.
There were a lot of clues along the way. I’ll trust the folks at Lostpedia to sort them out, and all over the ‘net on forums devoted to the subject. But Jack’s neck wound coming and going should have been one, certainly. And last week, it made no sense in linear time that Michele Rodriguez’s character, Ana Lucia, could have appeared in a flash sideways after she’d died on the island. But neither did it make sense in the same episode that Rousseau and her daughter, Alix, could have existed in Ben’s story.

Principal filming for the made-in-Boston spy flick “Wichita,” starring Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Maggie Grace and Marc Blucas, kicked off on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the Worcester Regional Airport.
The film’s code name indicated by the yellow production signs plastered all over Worcester? Zephyr.
In preparation for the shoot, set designers transformed the locale to act as stand-in for the Wichita Airport. The film’s prop team received 40 copies of a Kansas paper, The Wichita Eagle, and 25 guides from the Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau. Also, crews built a gift shop, a transportation security inspection area and a bar. The set will be torn down after the four-day shoot.
According to one tipster, security is extremely tight on set. “There’s a lot of activity at the base camp and the airport location,” says a Loaded Gun Boston reader in Worcester. “The airport police have the entrance to the airport closed and there are ‘no parking’ signs are up all along the road, so no one will park there.”
The source continues, “I’m also listening to the airport police on the radio and they’re turning around all spectators from the area.”
The soon-to-be-renamed “Wichita” follows Cruise as a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of single woman played by Diaz.
On Monday, Sept. 21, crews are filming all day in a desolate area of Somerville located on Windsor Street between South and Water seen here.
Meanwhile, production is hashing out an elaborate crash scene where a commercial 727 airliner skids into a Cumberland Farms cornfield near Curve Street in Bridgewater. Scheduled to shoot Thursday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Sept. 25, the scene depicts the aftermath of plane crash in a fictional Indiana locale.
