Chilean miners in complete delight after being rescued
The Chilean-miners, who were saved after they got trapped underground and remained there for almost two months, are in absolute delight these days.
On one hand they are being greeted by their relatives and close friends and on the other hand they are being revered and respected by the whole country. Ceremonies and functions are being organized in their honor. The miners spent their whole day in one such ceremony organized in Santiago. They also played football in the presidency with the football team of Chilean President.
Maradona awarded gold medal by Argentine senate
The Argentine senate gave the Delfo Cabrera Prize 2010 to the ex-soccer icon and former coach of Argentina’s national football team Diego Maradona, along with other sportsmen such as Agustn Pichot and Juan Curuchet.
I come from a bad experience, but the team played as I wanted. I’m upright to keep on fighting, said Maradona referring to his performance as the head of the national football team during the speech he delivered after receiving the golden medal of the Delfo Cabrera prize.
We are proud of receiving this prize, because it’s not easy to make Argentines happy and we were lucky, Maradona highlighted.
Maradona also vowed to work harder till his team brings world cup home.

This is surely not the way that party revelers would want a college party to conclude. As thousands of students amalgamated at an open air party adjoining the James Madison University campus, police authorities had to be called in order to control the massive crowd. Reports have stated that authorities had to resort to tear gas and pepper spray in order to bring the unruly crowd under control.
According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday afternoon when an estimated eight thousand people gathered for the party in the vicinity of the James Madison University campus. The crowd is said to have turned almost unmanageable when the authorities asked it to get dispersed. Instead of following the orders, the large number of people gathered which supposedly comprised mostly of college goers, started throwing beer bottles at the officers. It has also been reported that following the incident, few people were taken into custody while some of the individuals also received injuries in the tussle that ensued with the police authorities.
While divulging details about the incident, a Harrisonburg Police Department official Lt. Kurt Boshart revealed that trouble started brewing in the party owing to the fact that around eight thousand people attended the party which usually attracts only about one to two thousand party revelers. Although the reason which propelled such large number of people to congregate at the party is yet unknown, authorities have pointed out that it might have resulted from the fact that the event was promoted on the social networking site Facebook.
Togo football team bus fired
Gunmen have opened fire with machine guns on a bus carrying Togo’s football team to the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, wounding several players.
The Africa Cup of Nations is due to start on Sunday.
Togo’s first game is to be played on Monday in oil-rich Cabinda where rebels have been fighting for independence.
The Togolese team includes Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who is not among those wounded, Manchester City says.
Those injured also include team doctors. The identities of the injured are not known.
