WASHINGTON: A coalition of countries conducting air strikes against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s forces launched 22 Tomahawk missiles in the last 24 hours, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.

Momhand Agency: Forces kill 40 militants in retaliation

At least 40 militants were killed in retaliation when helicopters gunships pounded their hideouts in Mohmand Agency on Saturday.

Security forces launched a search operation in Mohmand tribal district, next to the border with Afghanistan, after co-ordinated insurgent attacks on five check posts Friday in which 11 paramilitary soldiers were killed.

At least 24 militants had already been killed in Friday’s fighting. Since yesterday Pakistani security forces helped by helicopter gunships carried out raids on suspected militant hideouts and killed 40 militants, Mohmand’s top administration official told.

A senior security official and local military officials confirmed the militant toll. The operations took place in Baizai and Lakro villages.

South Waziristan: 5 troops killed in check post attack

At least 5 security officials were killed in an attack on check post in South Waziristan, Dunya News reported on Friday.
According to official sources, militants attacked Chobara check post in Jandola Sector in South Wazirstan.
Five security officials were killed in the attack whereas militants escaped when forces retaliated. Security forces launched a search operation after the attack.

Security forces kill 40 militants in Orakzai

HANGU: Security forces killed 40 militants and injured nine during an offensive against militants in Orakzai Agency.

Sources said forces pounded militants positions in Kasha area killing 40 militants including militant commander Wali Muhammad. Two hideouts were also destroyed in the action.

Security forces launched operation in the area two months ago in which at least 1,000 militants have been killed so far and more than 100 hideouts have been destroyed.

bf83f4d9f8n fata 4 Militants killed in FATAHANGU, Pakistan News: Four militants were killed during clashes between security forces and militants in Kurram Agency, Orakzai Agency and Hangu whereas 18 persons were arrested.

Security forces launched operation in different areas of Kurram Agency, Orakzai and Hangu to nab militants coming from South Waziristan due to forces offensive. Four militants were killed in the clashes and 18 suspected militants were arrested and cache of arms recovered from their possession, sources said.

Twelve persons were arrested during search operation in Torawari and Saparkot areas in Hangu as curfew remained continued in these areas.

According to the channel, the President would reach United Arab Emirates (UAE) today and would leave for London tomorrow (Thursday) where he is likely to meet British Foreign Minister David Miliband and other high officials.

He would arrive in New York on Sept. 20 where he would address the UN General Assembly besides holding meetings with a number of world leaders, it was reported.

e4b07d50aaby sf Sher Mohammed Qasab Arrested By SFMINGORA: The security forces arrested a dangerour terrorist in a successful operation who was involved in killing of security men in Charbagh area of Swat.

Sher Mohammed alias Qasab was arrested with son in a raid by the forces. The government had announced Rs 10 million head money on him.

“The forces launched a sear and clearance operation after getting reports of Sher Mohammed Qasab’s presence in Charbagh,” security sources said. Three sons of the arrested militant commander were killed in fighting with forces.

Qasab has been a close aide of Swat Taliban chief Moulvi Fazlullah and a key militant commander in Charbagh region. He earned disrepute for slaughtering the security men.

84ab089702today SJC To Conduct A Meeting TodayISLAMABAD: To look into the complaints of corruption against two judges of Sindh and Lahore high courts, Supreme Judicial Council will conduct a meeting today.

Supreme Judicial Council with Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry in chair had issued notices to justice Abdul Shakoor Piracha of Lahore High Court (LHC) and justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro of Sindh High Court in its August 9th meeting on the charges of misconduct and corruption.

The SJC had also instituted inquiry committee comprising justice Sardar Raza Khan and justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif to probe into the charges. The committee was inquiring into the charges against the two judges since August 17.

Supreme Court’s judge Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan, Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court Justice Tariq Pervez Khan, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Khuwaja Mohammad Sharif and Secretary of Supreme Judicial Council Dr. Faqeer Hussain will attend the meeting.

The forces launched a search operation after bomb blast near a military convoy in Takhtaband and detained six suspects which were transferred to an undisclosed place for interrogation.

The search and clearance operation continued in various regions of Swat Valley.

Meanwhile, curfew has been relaxed from 4:00 in the morning till 11:00 in night at Mingora, Charbagh, Khwazakhella, Madian, Matta and Kabal.

4 Militants killed in Encounter in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: Four militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kupwara district of North Kashmir on Sunday.

The militants were killed in Bangas valley, 125 kms from here, after security forces launched a search operation to flush out hiding militants.

He said the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants could not be ascertained immediately as the search operation in the area is still on.

Superintendent of Police, Handwara, Rafiq Ahmad Wakeel said the operation started in the valley yesterday following a tip-off.

The search parties confronted a group of hiding militants and asked them to surrender but the ultras opened fire triggering a fierce gunbattl.
