ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has convened the federal cabinet meeting on coming Tuesday (November 30) where the transfer of five ministries from the centre to the provinces would be approved, Trend Pk reported Thursday.

The chief ministers of four provinces, the chief secretaries and other high officials will attend the meeting.

About 3,918 employees would be affected with the transfers of five ministries from the centre to the provinces. Trend Pk

ISLAMABAD: Prior to the announcement on recommendations forwarded by sub-committees of National Energy Conservation Conference (NECC), Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani will chair a high-level sitting comprising of chief ministers of four provinces to review the recommendations for conservation of energy, Geo news reported Wednesday.

According to sources, the high-level meeting will be held here at Prime Minister House early on Thursday morning.

The meeting is set to again review the recommendations forwarded from sub-committees of NECC for conservation of energy, sources claimed.

Prime Minister Gilani is likely to make announcement at 2:00 hours on the recommendations of sub-committees for energy conservation, sources said.

WAPDA retain National Senior Weightlifting Championship

LAHORE: Defending champion Pakistan WAPDA won the 57th National Senior Weightlifting Championship here on Thursday while Pakistan Railways secured the second position.

Teams of all the four provinces along with Pakistan WAPDA, Pakistan Railways, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Police, Pakistan Army and Islamabad participated in the two-day championship held here at the Punjab University Old Campus Ground from March 30.

WAPDA displayed brilliant performance in the event and defended its title with 74 points while the Railways came second with 43 and HEC finished third with 30 points.

National Finance Commission (NFC) Award would be signed in the session being held for the first time in the national history on board a ship.

The PM Gilani will chair the session attended by also the Chief Ministers of four provinces and the representatives of political parties.

Earlier before the session, the PM held a meeting with Nazims of Gwadar here.

fb0757495estries Cabinet Approves Weekly Two offs for IndustriesISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Cabinet Approves Weekly Two offs for Industries, The federal cabinet approved Wednesday weekly two holidays for the industrial sector and gas load management plan for 2009-10 in its meeting that held here with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in chair.

The meeting that was also attended by the chief ministers of the provinces also discussed new sugar policy and paddy procurement in the 2009 Kharif season.

The cabinet also approved closure of CNG stations two days a week under new gas load management plan and decided that an uninterrupted gas supply to the textile industry will be assured in the winter season.

The meeting also decided to make sure countrywide sell of sugar at Rs 40/kg as per orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan, vowing to deal hoarders of the sweetener iron handedly.

Earlier, chief ministers of all the four provinces called on Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and exchanged views over the gas load management and prevailing law and order situation in the country.

024580f40b50x133 Gilani to chair high level meeting on securityLahore, Pakistan:- Prime Minster Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has summoned a high level meeting in the wake of present law and order situation in the country.

The meeting will be held on Friday and attended by the Chief Ministers of all the four provinces, Chief Secretary, Federal and Provincial Interior Ministers, Provincial Chief Secretaries, Home Secretaries and Police Chiefs. A strategy to cope with the terrorism will be outlined in the meeting.

The meeting, convened after attacks on security forces and educational institutions, would review closure of educational institutions besides measures to protect them from terrorist attacks in future. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will be briefed about the present security situation across the country.
