Charme upset with rumours of her being dropped from Zilla Ghaziabad
The Southern Invasion has started all over again. After Vyjanthimala, Padmini, Hema Malini, Sridevi and Jaya Prada there was a lull of sorts as far as South Indian heroines in Bollywood went… until Asin. Her debut opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini was followed by stories of how arrogantly dismissive she was of most Hindi projects. Now with another blockbuster Ready to her credit, she is back in the reckoning…the first among several Southern heroines who are on their way.
The talented Trisha fell short of expectations in Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha. Maybe not her fault as she was completely miscast as a district collector trying to bring Akshay Kumar to task. Priya Mani in Raavan was noticed. But not enough to make a place next to her cousin Vidya Balan in Bollywood.
Kajal Aggarwal lately made her high-profile debut in Singham. But like many of the other Southern swapna sundaris, she has big banners and heroes backing her in Bollywood. Ditto Ileana D’Cruz who has bagged a plum assignment opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Anurag Basu’s Barfee.
Next in line is Tamil actress Tapasee, who makes her Hindi debut in David Dhawan’s Chashme Buddoor. Anushka Shetty from the Telugu blockbuster Arundhati, would have been seen opposite Ajay Devgn in Singham if she hadn’t been beaten to the role by Kajal Aggarwal.
Oh yes, these South Indian girls are fiercely competitive.
A strange story suggesting that Telugu actress Charme Kaur who made her debut ni Big B’s Bbuddah… Hoga Terra Baap was ousted from her second Hindi film Zilla Ghaziabad because her co-star Vivek Oberoi didn’t want to work with her, had the girl and Vivek fuming, he for yet another attempt to malign his name.
Says a source close to Vivek, “He has never interfered in the casting. Why should he do so now? He is in fact shooting with Charme in Phaltan outside Mumbai. And he is completely comfortable with her.”
So where did the stories of Charme’s rude expulsion from her second Hindi film come from? Apparently, the sabotage rumours were part of a whole new Southern wave of competition that has swept down on Bollywood.
Says a source, “Another Southern invasion has started. There’s a whole new brood of Southern glamour girls descending on Bollywood. Kajal Aggarwal, Ileana D’Cruz, Taapsee, Anushka Shetty…These are all glamour girls from the South who are all set to find a place in Mumbai. I wouldn’t like to say much about their ambitions except that they are fiercely competitive and know they’re fighting for the same roles with the same A-lister heroes.”
Apparently, the rumour that Vivek was unwilling to work with Charme was started by one of the new lot of South Indian glam-dolls looking to leap into a pan-India attention with a big Hindi blockbuster.
Confirms the film’s producer Vinod Bachchan, “Charme is here shooting with Vivek in Phaltan. She was recommended to me by Sonu Sood who worked with her in Bbuddah and found her very spontaneous and professional. We don’t know who started the rumour that Charme was out of our movie. She plays Vivek’s girlfriend and later his wife.”
Charme seems pretty annoyed by these attempts to shorten her screen life even before it’s started. “It was all a fabrication. I was always doing the part. Now that we’re shooting, trust me we’re having a great time on location. Vivek, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawalji and the whole crew is so sweet.”
Regarding the new Southern invasion, Charme shoots, “I’m not here because the other girls from the South are here. I am here because I want to be here. There is a difference between the Tamil-Telugu actresses and me. I am a Punjabi girl from Mumbai.”
Korea calls off talks with UN over ship

SEOUL: North Korea abruptly called off a talks set for Tuesday with the U.S.-led United Nations Command that oversees the Korean War truce, failing to show up for the first meeting to discuss the sinking of a South Korean warship.
North Korea”s military representatives asked for a delay “for administrative reasons,” the U.N. Command said in a statement. An official there said the North may have decided it was not ready for the talks. No new date has been set.
A joint team of investigators involving military officers and civilian experts from the South, the United States and Sweden in May blamed the North for launching a torpedo attackon the South Korean corvette Cheonan in March, killing 46sailors.
The U.N. Security Council in a statement on Friday condemned the attack but did not directly blame the North. The North denies it was involved in the sinking and has accused the South of masterminding a fabrication for political gain.

It didn’t quite match the iPad’s US launch, but hundreds of people waited outside Apple’s London store all night to snap up one of the devices when it opened at 8.00 this morning.
The price isn’t quite the same either, at £429 for the basic Wifi-only version, rising to £699 for the 16GB Wifi/3G model. But at least the Brits have a choice of carrier: Orange is charging £25 per month for up to 10GB, with the 3 network asking £7.50 for 1GB. Vodaphone offers 5GB a month for £25.
The British are famous for their ability to stand in line – sorry, queue – and the wait was a civilized affair. Customers were divided
into groups and given little cards to establish their place in the line.
A few lucky customers who preordered got their iPads a day early. But many others are likely to be disappointed. Those who preordered and weren’t lucky to be among the first batch of deliveries look set to have to wait another ten days.
Today is also launch day in France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Germany, along with Japan, Australia and Canada. And Japanese fanboys put the rest of the world to shame, with a line estimated at 1,200 people at one Tokyo store.

four to five knots of wind on Lake Constance from the South West has brought out the best in lake sailing ability, with some skippers like Mathieu Richard (FRA) French Match Racing Team preferring these conditions, having been taught on ‘Lac de Maine’.
Richard has noticed that there are a number of match racing regattas run on lakes and now simulates these lake conditions on the Atlantic Coast of France. ‘To create the experience just like racing on a lake I train with my team really close to the shore, this mirrors the light and shifty conditions when the breeze is off the land.’
One tabloid front page – apologies for not remembering which but after a while they all become one blur of bold typography, exclamation marks and words like sink, revenge, low or suffer – screamed: “Rat Cole sinks to new low!” This certainly grabbed my attention.
What depths of depravity had the greatest left-back in the game today sunk to now? Had he seduced the Pope? Destroyed a small Spanish holiday resort on a drunken rampage? Or, worst of all, signed up for the new series of Celebrity Love Island?
halo reach beta

Halo fans all over the world are getting ready today for the Halo Reach Beta to launch. The beta is set to launch, from what I can gather anyway, today (Monday) around 1pm EST/10am PST.
These times are definitely not set in stone as there isn’t a whole lot of information out about the Halo Reach Beta start time.
However, the Halo Reach Beta is coming and it is expected that it will consist of two maps – Swordbase and Powerhouse.
According to Hovied, Skwordbase is an indoor, multi-leveled map, separated into two parts by a central area. Powerhouse on the other hand is an outdoor map that focuses on a circular wall situated in the center of the map. These two maps provide you with opposite playing experiences in order to give you an taste of what is to come in the full game. The level design for both maps seems well-balanced and I haven’t experienced any hiccups trying to get around.
So come 1PM EST, it will be interesting to see if the Halo Reach Beta actually launches. I’m sure there will be no shortage of bloggers updating all of us about the launch and I will try to keep updates posted here.

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com) — The most popular and award-winning comic,The Boondocks is back once again. Now you can watch the new episode of your favorite adult animation on Adult Swim.
The series is produced by Rebel Base and has completed airing its second season. Season three being produced at JM Animation in Seoul, Korea is currently running.
The Boondocks is a social satire of American culture and race relations. The story revolves round the lives of Freeman family that consists of ten-year-old Huey, his younger brother, eight-year-old Riley, and their grandfather, Robert.
Viewers will find the Boondocks taking place in the same location and time frame as its comic counterpart. The Freeman family has moved from the South Side of Chicago, Illinois to the peaceful, fictional suburb of Woodcrest, Illinois. They find different way out to cope with a totally new suburban culture. The mixture of cultures, lifestyles, races add much of the comedy in this series.

Unification Of Korean Will Raise

SEOUL: Unification of the two Koreas will raise the tax bill for South Koreans by the equivalent of an annual two percentage points for 60 years, a report by a South Korean state-funded research agency showed on Thursday.
The figures are some of the most detailed by South Korea on the potentially huge cost of reuniting with the communist North, whose economy has been driven close to ruin by central economic planning, heavy military expenditure and years of famine.
“Additional fiscal spending will initially reach 12 percent of South Korea’s annual gross domestic product each year, declining to around 7 percent about 10 years later but increasing again afterwards,” the Korea Institute of Public Finance said in a report.
It put South Korea’s economy, Asia’s fourth biggest, at nearly 40 times the size of its reclusive neighbour.
North Korea’s economy has been hit further by an end to free-flowing aid from the South since conservative President Lee Myung-bak took office 18 months ago, and by tightening international sanctions after the North’s nuclear test in May.
The past few weeks has seen the North re-emerge from its shell and offer some conciliatory gestures to the South.
South Korea’s central bank estimates the annual gross national income in the North, which does not announce official data, at 27 trillion won ($21.77 billion) in 2008, compared with 1,031 trillion won for the South.
Some unofficial estimates reckon that it would cost the South anywhere from 2-25 percent of its annual economic output to integrate the two sides, which have never signed a formal peace treaty to end the 1950-53 Korean War.
