The Dirty Picture team wins legal tussle against Silk Smitha’s brother
It may be recalled that Ekta Kapoor’s home production The Dirty Picture directed by Milan Luthria had found itself in the midst of a controversy a few weeks ago when V Naga Vara Prasad (brother of Silk Smitha) had sent a legal notice to the makers of the film for not taking permission from him before going ahead with the film. Vara Prasad was irked that the film projected his late sister Silk in an obscene manner.
The case was heard in the Andhra High Court and the Court has dismissed Vara Prasad’s writ petition yesterday and gave the makers of The Dirty Picture a clean chit to go ahead with the release as scheduled.
The Dirty Picture starring Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar releases all over today.

Aamir Khan was fined Rs.100 for driving into a no-entry zone on Sunday. The actor was driving his BMW with his wife in Satara, when he took a wrong turn and entered a no-entry zone. It was then that the traffic police immediately stopped him and pointed out that he was driving on the wrong side.
The incident occurred at Powai Naka, near the Shivaji Statue in the heart of Satara town, which normally witnesses heavy traffic.
Khan insisted on paying the fine and was issued challan of Rs. 100 by the cops.
Salman to star in Atul Agnihotri’s next, remake of Telugu film Dookudo
Mahesh Babu’s current Telugu blockbuster Dookudo is now being remade with Salman Khan in the lead. Mahesh Babu has made it known to the film’s makers that Salman is the best person to play the lead in the Hindi version of the film.

After Bodyguard, Salman’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri will now produce another film with Salman in the lead. Salman Khan will now star in another South Indian remake, this time of the Telugu film Dookudo which features Mahesh Babu in the lead.
Salman’s sister Alvira is expected to fly down to Hyderabad to seal the deal this month.
Confirming this, Mahesh Babu’s wife Namrata Shirodkar says, “Yes Baby (Alvira Khan) is flying down soon about Dookudo. The film is very special for Mahesh. And he wants Salman to do the Hindi version.”
‘Bol’ actress Humaima Malick is looking at Bollywood

She impressed everyone with a superlative performance in BOL. Now Pakistani model turned actress Humaima Malick is ready to explore newer horizons. She has arrived in India with the intention of acting in Bollywood films. “Let’s face it. Bollywood is making loads of interesting films and who wouldn’t like to be a part of it?” she asks. But we don’t make many films like BOL, which have the lead actress enacting the pivotal part. Bollywood survives on masala films, it’s a male-dominated industry. “Agree! But I would like to work in masala films. I am well aware that Bollywood films are packed with song and dance, loads of humor and action, but that’s what everyone enjoys, including me. Of course, I wouldn’t like to do item songs at this juncture of my career, but I’d love to act in Bollywood,” Humaima states.
Humaima, the brand ambassador of Lux and Sunsilk in Pakistan, aspires to work with Amitabh Bachchan in a film like BLACK. “Also, it’s a desire to work with someone like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who presents his heroines so well,” she says, adding in the same breath, “I have been meeting lots of people in Mumbai and believe me, the response is most favorable.”
Kangna all set to break free post Rascals?

Kangna may well be counting days till the release of Rascals post which she would be glad to break free. The Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn starrer hasn’t really left a good taste in her mouth
and with the makers clearly putting the film’s (distant) second lead Lisa Haydon much ahead of her; picture is quite clear on the wall. However, the end is
not as near as it seems. Reason being that Kangna still has one more film with Ajay Devgn – Tezz – up for release and there is still a sword hanging
on her neck, what with Sameera Reddy as another leading lady in the film, ready to hog all the limelight.
“Kangna has been quiet through all this mayhem and that has been with a reason. However, she would be on her toes when it comes to Tezz. No one can be
sure of how this Priyadarshan directed film works for her. Perhaps everyone would get an answer depending upon how she is treated in Rascals once the
film releases this weekend”, says a source who has been closely following Kangna’s career journey during last few months.
Though Ajay Devgn is hardly known for playing games when it comes to his films, one suspects if there would be other influences that may could be creating a
sense of apprehension for Kangna. In any case, she has competition in the form of Sameera Reddy who has worked with Priyadarshan before as a female lead in
De Dana Dana and an item girl in Aakrosh.
“Anything is possible”, the source continues, “Look at Lisa, she was a nobody when signed for Rascals and today she is almost being projected as the main
female lead. On the other hand, even though Kangna is a much bigger name and was signed for this very reason in Tezz, Sameera’s promotion for the film
has been on full swing for so many months. Makers have a ready female protagonist up there to be promoted as a main lead if the need arises. Obviously Kangna
can’t take it easy.”
For a multi starrer action thriller which in any case is testosterone driven with Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn and Zayed Khan arriving with a mighty punch,
Mohanlal along with Boman Irani expected to add on to the drama and Sameera Reddy turning a biker girl with quite a fare dare devil stunts to her name, one
just hopes that Kangna’s worst fears don’t really come true.
Once a hot favourite with Sanjay and Ajay, Kangna could well be looking forward to her newer bunch of films like Miley Naa Miley Hum, Dedh Ishqiya and
Tanu Weds Manu Season 2. And then there is Sunny Deol starrer I Love New Year that should be released soon and may just about begin a New Year,
professionally at least, for Kangna.
Harman’s long-delayed film gets new lease of life thanks to Genelia
It’s My Life just got a new lease of life. Thanks to the favourable reports and response to Genelia D’Souza’s performance in her new release Force, suddenly Harman Baweja’s long-delayed release, It’s My Life, has become an urgent issue with producer Boney Kapoor and director Anees Bazmee.
According to very reliable sources, Genelia’s success in Force is just the window that the producer and director were looking for to release It’s My Life. The film is being spruced up big time.
Says the source, “Genelia’s is the third-most important role in It’s My Life after Nana and Harman. Ways are being devised to enhance Genelia’s presence in the film. A song is being added to the film. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have been asked to create a sizzling new number for Genelia to sizzle to.”
Apparently, the Bon Jovi anthem ‘It’s My Life’ was being considered as the special add-on to the film.
But Shankar Mahadevan denies the Bon Jovi connection. “We are doing a new title song for It’s My Life. We’re exploring various possibilities. But Bon Jovi is not one of them.”
Anees admits the film is being spruced up. “We are definitely releasing the film finally on January 13. Yes we’re adding a song. I am not aware of how successful Genelia’s new film is. But yes, success of any kind does help the next picture, issmein koi shaq nahin hai.”
How Katrina finally signed up for Dhoom 3
Many names, including top international ones, were considered for the coveted role of the screen queen opposite bad-boy Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3.
Finally it’s Katrina Kaif, after all, who has bagged the prized part.
Katrina, it must be remembered, was Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya’s first choice for the part. But the actress, hell bent on building on her wholesome image, had major misgivings about some of the things that the role required from her. There was the mandatory girl-in-a-bikini Dhoom shot.
With her new policy of no kissing and no exposure, Katrina begged off the role.
Says a very reliable source, “Katrina very clearly told her dear friend Aditya Chopra that she would not be comfortable doing some of the scenes. Aditya told her she was crazy to turn down the chance of playing the Dhoom girl, and that too opposite Aamir Khan, but Katrina is very clear about what she wants to and doesn’t want to do on screen. And nothing could make her change her mind. She suggested that they look for someone else.”
The hunt for Aamir’s Dhoom girl even went international with hot global faces being considered. Incidentally, a couple of A-list actresses got their publicity machinery to plant stories of being chosen for Dhoom 3.
Says a source, “But the first choice, namely Katrina kept coming back to haunt the banner’s casting aspirations. They needed a girl who not only looked hot but also could look extremely homely and wholesome. A combination of Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman, that was the brief.”
Two factors made Katrina change her mind. The first was Aamir Khan. Having bagged a role with Shah Rukh Khan in Yash Chopra’s next, she was keen to be paired with Aamir. And so, we believe, was Aamir.
Finally, there was a long and intense meeting between Katrina and Aditya Chopra just before she left for the shooting of Ek Tha Tiger in Dublin that clinched the matter. Both Katrina and Adi were in high spirits after the success of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.
Says a source, “Someone said Katrina was Yash Raj’s lucky mascot. To this she quipped, ‘I really don’t like being called a lucky mascot. It makes me sound like a ghodi at the derby.’ Everyone including Katrina was in the mood to see her say yes to Dhoom 3.”
Apparently, in the meeting Aditya convinced Katrina as to why doing Dhoom 3 at this stage of her career would take her to another level. They spoke about the packaging and the projection. And they also spoke about the scenes that bothered Katrina.
Apparently, the kissing and bikini scenes have been taken care of. Says a source, “The scenes that scared Katrina have not been done away with entirely. But Adi and Katrina met on a middle path. The scenes have been now modified to the advantage of both the parties.”
With Dhoom 3, Katrina Kaif becomes the only heroine in the history of Indian cinema to do 4 back-to-back films with the Yash Raj banner.
Katrina remained unavailable for comment. Apparently, she is using the off-shooting hours in Dublin to get fighting-fit for Dhoom 3. Martial arts and samurai sword-fighting are part of the training for the part.
Go ahead Katrina. Dhoom machale.
Usha Uthup records song for Don 2
One of the most versatile singers Usha Uthup has been quite choosy when it comes to singing for films. Recently, Usha Uthup sang the popular track
‘Darling’ from 7 Khoon Maaf and now she will be heard next in Farhan Akhtar’s SRK starrer Don 2.
Farhan tweeted, “Recorded a song with Usha Uthup for Don 2. What a voice and what amazing energy and attitude… a rockstar in a kanjivaram saree!”
Music of Don 2 has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and is definitely among the most anticipated soundtracks of the year.
RDB all set to work on few more exciting projects
Internationally acclaimed music artists RDB might just add another feather to their cap. On the one hand, they are currently basking in the glory of ‘Shera Di Kaum Punjabi’ from Speedy Singhs, and on the other, they are all set to take on a few more exciting projects soon.
If grapevine is to be believed then Aftab Shivdasani is very fond of the brothers and is keen on working with them again. The actor had a great experience while working with RDB during Aloo Chaat which he produced and acted in. Currently, Aftab is busy with the sequel to 1920 with Vikram Bhatt. If speculations are to be believed, Aftab had conveyed his keenness to have the band on board to his director. A source close to the actor reveals, “Aftab and the three brothers (members of RDB) had a whale of a time during Aloo Chaat. They got along like a house on fire and their music impressed the actor immensely.” When contacted RDB for the same, they expressed their views stating, “Aftab is like a buddy, would love to work with him again.”
Besides their film assignments, RDB is also busy with their album Worldwide which is out early next year.
Delhi Belly re-edited and re-dubbed for TV
One of this year’s most successful films Delhi Belly is all set to debut on television. But before the world TV premiere, the film is being re-edited and re-dubbed.
Delhi Belly is a comedy with an adult theme, crass dialogues and explicit scenes. The satellite rights of the movie have been bought by Sahara. The television censor committee had suggested the makers to delete some of the intimate scenes, dialogues and wild gestures. Deleting the scenes and dialogues would spoil the continuity and create a jerk in the story leaving the audience confused; the makers then decided to re-edit and re-dub the film.
There were rumors that producer Boney Kapoor who bought the satellite rights of the film for Sahara, asked Aamir Khan to re-shoot for the satellite version of the film for which the film is being re-shot at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studio for satellite view. But director Abhinay Deo denied it saying, “We have not re-shot any scene, we have only re-edited and re-dubbed the movie for family viewing. I have seen to it that there is no effect on the continuity of the film due to the editing so that the viewers don’t feel disconnected and confused.”
Speaking about the explicit dialogues being re-dubbed, Abhinay said, “The film was not about bad language so that won’t affect the new version. We have changed the dialogues but the essence and premise of the film is still the same. The film will be different but it will still be funny and the audience will enjoy it”
