India Vs Australia, 5th ODI today at Hyderabad

babde858e051 India Vs Australia, 5th ODI today at HyderabadIt has been an extremely tight contest between India and Australia so far with both sides winning two games each. That now reduces the 7-ODI Series as a fresh best of three matches starting with today’s day night match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The two teams have come down from Chandigarh in the North to Hyderabad in the South and then travel to the North East to Guwahati for the sixth ODI. They finish the series in the West in India’s Cricket Capital – Mumbai.

For the fifth ODI, India will be boosted with the return of Gautam Gambhir. The left hander will mostly take the place of Virat Kohli. India is unlikely to make any other changes apart from that. So far this new stadium in Hyderabad hasn’t been auspicious to India as they lost the two ODIs played here against South Africa and against Australia. However in both the ODIs, Yuvraj Singh has smashed centuries and is on the verge of a hat-trick at this venue.

Australia are likely to play Clint McKay in the vacant place left by Moises Henriqes’ injury. Another vacant slot created by Peter Siddle injury is likely to be taken by Ben Hilfenhaus. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has a South African kind of pitch with good pace and bounce. It doesn’t mean that the batsmen will find it difficult to play their shots though as seen in the Champions League T20. It could be a high scoring contest coming up in a couple of hours time.

d92817fe99di Taylor century puts pressure on BangladeshWicket Keeper batsman Brendan Taylor scored his maiden ODI hundred to put Zimbabwe as the favourites to win the fifth and final match at Chittagong.

Zimbabwe put into bat first were yet again in a hopeless situation at 113 for 7 but the Tigers had failed to take the one wicket that mattered which was of one down batsman Taylor. The right hander single handedly took Zimbabwe to a respectable 221 for 9 in the allotted 50 overs. Taylor remained unbeaten on 118 from 125 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes. Elton Chigumubra was the next highest scorer with 38.

Abdur Razzak, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah picked up three wickets each. Bangladesh have already sealed the series in their favour at 3-1.

India hold onto same squad; Gambhir declared fit

7ec76677bcdi India hold onto same squad; Gambhir declared fitSouthpaw Gautam Gambhir has been declared fit to play in the fifth ODI at Hyderabad tomorrow. Gambhir had missed the fourth ODI at Mohali due to a neck strain caused by a Ricky Ponting pull shot. The left hander has got into fine form in this series scoring two fifties and only missing out with a small score in the third ODI.

Making way for Gautam Gambhi has got to be Delhi teammate Virat Kohli. It will be a big boost for India as Gautam Gambhir has shown his consistency in the last two years or so in all formats of the game. Virat Kohli on the other hand deserves to be dropped after his failure in the last game plus also the way holed out in the deep after getting to a good start in the first ODI.
