RAWALPINDI: Vice Admiral Shahin Sultanov, Commander Azerbaijan Naval Forces (NF) called on General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters Chaklala on Monday.

According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, they exchanged views on regional security, bilateral defense cooperation and other matter of professional interest.

Admiral Sultanov also offered condolences over the loss of precious lives, expressed solidarity and pledged support from the public and Government of Azerbaijan to the flood victims.

While conveying good wishes for the people and Government of Azerbaijan, General Tariq Majid thanked the Vice Admiral for assistance worth $2 million, and goods worth $0.69 million for flood relief activities. SAMAA

RAWALPINDI: H.E. Mrs. Ulrika Sundberg, Ambassador of Sweden called on General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee at Joint Staff Headquarters, Chaklala.

According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, the dignitary remained with the CJCSC for some time and discussed regional security developments, defense cooperation aspects and other matters of mutual interest between the two countries.

General Tariq Majid thanked the government and people of Sweden for cumulative assistance of USD 23 million through donor agencies for flood relief and appreciated the Ambassador’s role in bolstering bilateral cooperation between the two countries in diverse fields. SAMAA

RAWALPINDI: President National Defence University (NDU), Lieutenant General Muhammad Yousaf made a farewell call on General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters, on the day of his retirement.

According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, General Yousaf stayed with CJCSC for some time and discussed matters of professional interest.

General Tariq Majid appreciated the efforts put in by General Yousaf as President National Defence University for bringing appreciable improvements in the coveted institution, especially the mammoth work undertaken to successfully transform its status from a college to university, and stated that he would be remembered and respected for his valuable contributions. RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Joint Services Chiefs Committee (CJCSC), General Tariq Majeed, has categorically said that he is not interested in an extension of his service period.

A handout issued by Joint Staff Headquarters has categorically stated that General Tariq Majid is neither interested, nor an aspirant for his extension in tenure as CJCSC.

Terming the impression created by the article ‘Many aspire for the slot of CJCSC’ as misleading and an unfair attempt to spoil the image, General Tariq is reported to have said, “I have no desire for an extension and would very much like to retire on due date”.

While conveying disappointment on the incorrect speculative reporting, the personal staff of CJCSC also informed that General Tariq has asked for dispensing with farewell ceremonies and traditional dine outs by the service headquarters and

N-League says ‘not taken into confidence on COAS tenure’

ISLAMABAD: Ahsan Iqbal, Central Information Secretary of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Saturday said the government did not take his party into confidence over the extension of Army Chief”s service tenure.

Addressing a press conference, here Ahsan Iqbal said that the party’s stand on the issue will be presented upon return of PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif to the country.

On the issue of fake degrees, the PML-N leader said that his party is ready to sacrifice Punjab Government.

On a question regarding making secure the heads of four state institutions, he described Prime Minister’s argument as illogical, saying it will give birth to a new crisis.

“Two and a half year’s time has passed but the government has so far failed to resolve even the most fundamental issues,” he maintained.

He demanded of the government to uncover by passing an accountability bill the corrupt mafia that it (government) has been patronizing.

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan”s Ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani, who is currently visiting Pakistan, called on General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) here at Joint Staff Headquarters on Monday.
