PM Gilani directs Ministry of Law to implement SC’s verdict on NRO

Lahore, Pakistan News :- Prime Minister (PM) Yousaf Raza Gilani said that he has directed the Ministry of Law to implement the verdict of Supreme Court in true spirit, PM was talking to media in Lahore where he also said that system is safe and President is exempted from NRO. According to Cabinet division, since PM took office, 66% of his orders have not been implemented yet.
According to document submitted by the Cabinet division to the Parliament, the PM office has issued 555 orders and only 194 were implemented and the remaining 361 orders are still pending.

Lahore, Pakistan :- Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday said that nuclear assets would not be compromised.
Giving details of his meetings with Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan under the Obama administration Richard Holbrooke in the National Assembly, the PM said that he told Holbrooke, “Drone attacks are harmful for us. We are trying to purse America on drone attack issue. It is possible that our stance on drone attack is more rigid than the opposition. We don’t want that Pakistan should rely on aid.”
The Prime Minister said the government has asked America to release Dr. Affia Siddique as soon as possible. He said that Pakistan wants relations with other countries on the basis of equality.

Lahore, Pakistan News :- Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, as a humanitarian gesture, has decided to unilaterally release 100 Indian fishermen who have been in Pakistani custody.
The Prime Minister has instructed the Interior Ministry to make necessary arrangements for their repatriation to India on December 24.To resolve the issue of prisoners and fishermen in each other’s custody, Pakistan has also proposed to India the revival of the Judicial Committee on Prisoners between the two countries.

PM Gilani reshuffles cabinet, changes portfolios of 3 ministers
Lahore, Pakistan News :- Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday has reshuffled the cabinet while changing the portfolios of three ministers and six secretaries.
Mir Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani has been appointed Minister for Sports and Makhdoom Shahabuddin has been appointed Minister for Health while Pir Aftab Shah Jilani has been appointed Minister of Inter-Provincial Coordination.
PM Gilani has appointed Tariq Iqbal Puri as Secretary Labor, Javed Akhtar as Secretary Minorities, Inamullah Khan Toori appointed as Secretary Federal Tax Ombudsman, Mohammad Saleem as Secretary Investment, Ghazanfar Hussain as Secretary Local Government and Aziz Ahmed as Executive Director NAVTEC while Athar Tahir has been appointed as Secretary Social Welfare.

Lahore, Pakistan News :- Pakistan forces under pressure due to tension on Eastern border: PM Gilani.
US National Security Advisor James L. Jones has assured Pakistan’s high-level political and military leadership of his sincere intention to pursue a long term strategic partnership based on mutual interests and mutual respect while Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan was fully committed to take its ongoing operations of clearing its territory from the terrorists and extremists to its logical conclusions, its forces were over-stretched because of continuous tension on the Eastern border.
General (R) James L. Jones, US National Security Advisor of President Obama met with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, President Asif Ali Zardari and Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani in Islamabad today. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and US Ambassador to Pakistan Ms. Anne W. Patterson were also present during the meeting.
The Prime Minister stated it was imperative that the US should be sensitive about Pakistan’s core interests i.e. Kashmir, water issue, Indian military capability and the requirements of balance of power in South Asia.
The US, hence has to use its influence with India for resumption of composite dialogue and lessening of tension with Pakistan to enable Pakistan to concentrate its attention and energies in the fight against militancy and terrorism, the PM added.
General (R) James L. Jones said the US considered Pakistan as its most strategic ally and wanted to proceed on a new way forward through consultations and coordination on every important bilateral issue particularly the ones related to the counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency, he added. He agreed with the Prime Minister that the new US policy on Afghanistan should be formulated by taking into account the vital interests of Pakistan.
James L. Jones also called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Presidency on Friday. Matters relating to Pakistan’s struggle against militancy, rehabilitation of IDPs and early reimbursement of the arrears in coalition support fund (CSF) were discussed during the meeting.
