Rahaman nominated for Golden Globe Awards

MUMBAI: A. R. Rahaman – the musical genious from India – has been nominated in the Best Original Score for Motion Picture category for the 2011 Golden Globe Awards. The nomination of Rahaman is for his work in Danny Boyle”s 127 hours.
The composer himself reacted to the nomination by saying “This is a blessing beyond words.”
The Chennai based composer is a double Oscar winner. The two Oscars had been awarded to him in 2009 for the music in Slumdog Millionaire. Slumdog Millionaire too had been Danny Boyle”s film. AR Rahaman had also won a Golden Globe in the same year for the same film.
The Golden Globe Awards is being hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the 68th time in January 2011.
Today, the Golden Globes recognize achievements in 25 categories; 14 in motion pictures and 11 in television.
Danny Boyle”s 127 Hours is nominated in two other categories – Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) and Best Screenplay (Motion Picture).
Rahman gets Golden Globe nomination for 127 Hours
A R Rahman, by far the most noted name in the Indian film music industry, has made the country proud once again, this time by winning a Golden Globe nomination for Danny Boyle’s new film 127 Hours, in the Best Original Score category.
However, what’s interesting to note is the fact that Rahman had earlier won a Golden Globe award as well as two Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire which was again a Danny Boyle film.
Contending with Rahman in the same category are heavyweights such as Alexandre Desplat for The King’s Speech, Danny Elfman for Alice in Wonderland, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for The Social Network and Hans Zimmer for Inception.
We hope the ‘Mozart of Madras’ brings home the coveted statue yet again!
James Cameron’s Avatar to re-release in a Special Edition on August 27
James Cameron’s blockbuster film Avatar is all set to re-release in a new version called Avatar: Special Edition across theatres worldwide (including India). Avatar: Special Edition will be released on August 27, in a limited engagement and exclusively in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D.
This version of Cameron’s history-making and groundbreaking epic will include more than eight minutes of new footage. Since – and largely as a result of — Avatar’s release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D will now have that opportunity.
Commented James Cameron, “Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora, and wished they could have stayed there longer. So we’re making that possible. Avatar: Special Edition will be exclusively in 3D, and will have eight minutes of never before seen footage, including new creatures and action scenes. Whether you already love the movie, or you’ve never seen it, with this Special Edition, you’ll be seeing it like never before.”
Commented Fox Filmed Entertainment Chairmen and CEO’s, Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman: “Avatar: Special Edition is especially gratifying, because not only has Avatar become one of the most beloved films in history, but after its initial theatrical release, we have been inundated with requests to re-release the film in theatres in 3D. The Oscar and Golden Globe winning epic is the highest grossing film of all time, raking in over $2.7 billion in worldwide box office. It is also the top-selling Blu-ray disc of all time.
With the film now coming out in a special edition, it’s quite certain that fans will be more than eager to once again take a trip to Pandora.

It was scheduled just after the winners of the Golden Globe Awards 2010 were announced. It was actually scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 but then it was moved to Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010. SAG Awards Producer Kathy Connell announced this. He also said that it was due to the scheduling conflict. Jeff Margolis Productions in association with Screen Actors Guild Awards, LLC produced the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The executive producer and director of this award function was Jeff Margolis.

Jennifer Kate Hudson (born September 12, 1981) is an American recording artist, actress and model. Sci-fi flick ‘Avatar’ rules 67th Golden Globe Awards
Golden Globe Awards latest updates :- The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles where ‘Avatar’ got the best movie title with James Cameron as Best Director.
Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock win the best actor and actress awards respectively. ‘The Hangover’ won the title of best musical and hilarious flick. The award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical/ Comedy has been won by the veteran Meryl Streep, while Robert Jones took the same in male category.
Christopher Waltz and Mo’Nique took best supporting actors’ awards to home. ‘The White Ribbon’ won the best foreign movie award.
