KABUL: Al-Qaeda has announced the death of a top aide to Osama bin Laden, Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, a US monitoring group said Tuesday, in what would be a major blow to the global terror network.
Yazid, an Egyptian national also known as Sheikh Said, was a founder member of Al-Qaeda and a former treasurer to bin Laden who became the network”s Afghanistan chief three years ago.
In Washington, a US official said there was “strong reason” to believe that Yazid — widely regarded as Al-Qaeda”s number three — was dead and that he was killed recently in Pakistan”s tribal areas.
“In terms of counterterrorism, this would be a big victory,” the official said.
“Al-Masri was the group”s chief operating officer, with a hand in everything from finances to operational planning,” the official said, using another name for Yazid.
“He was also the organisation”s prime conduit to bin Laden and Zawahiri,” he said referring to Al-Qaeda number two and fellow Egyptian Ayman al-Zawahiri. “He was key to Al-Qaeda”s command and control.”
The Al-Qaeda message carried by the SITE group, which monitors Islamist websites, did not give any details about the circumstances of the death of Yazid other than to speak of his “martyrdom”.
But it said the message from Al-Qaeda posted on jihadist forums on May 31 said his wife, three of his daughters, his granddaughter, and other men, women, and children, were killed.
“His death will only be a severe curse by his life upon the infidels. The response is near. That is sufficient,” according to the message translated by SITE.

The first challenge was a really weak walking challenge which was boring as hell that even the funny drag queens could not save.Krista killed it with the mannequin turn to easily win the competition.
As for the photo-shoot challenge ,it was very disturbing and it consisted of models trying to take photos with hair all over her body with the help of photographer Jerry Metellus.Krista White won the challenge and was rewarded with a first class trip to New Zealand that she decided to share with Angelea. In the bottom two we had Anslee Payne-Franklin and Alexandra Underwood with Anslee Payne-Franklin getting the boot. Nicknamed the English Rose for her classic beauty and decorous maturity, Kate Winslet is one of the finest actresses of her time, but most guys would stray away from recognizing her as a celebrity babe because she may not exactly fit the characteristic Hollywood mold of most female stars. A quick note to those you don’t find Kate to be attractive: People magazine chose her as one of their “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” in 1996 and she’s never looked better since. In fact, Kate is perfectly happy with her naturally good looks and doesn’t seem to care too much about the plastic surgery and diet crazes that have swept the acting industry over the past decade. Most importantly, Kate has the amazing career record to prove that she is also incredibly talented in front of the camera. Born in England in 1975,
Kate Winslet was born into a family of acting, the granddaughter of theater owners and the daughter of two actors, the young actress’ family members were also known for their appearances on the stage as well. Making her official debut at the age of eleven, Kate starred alongside the Honey Monster in a television commercial for Sugar Puffs cereal. After attending acting lessons and graduating from a performing arts school, Kate finally took to the stage in a number of productions before making her rounds on the television sitcom circuit.
